Questions & Answers

AMY A : Is an adapter needed to use on panasonic m4/3 lenses?EDWARD S : This adapter will only fit the specified Olympus lens.S PAUL D : I do not use Panasonic lenses !!!AMY A : Thank you for your quick responses, you were all very helpful.ZOHAR S : Yes, and I don't know that there is one to my knowledge. I'd say you cannot use this converter on Panasonic lenses!Robert B : Sorry, but it won't work. The converter is sized for the barrel of the Olympus 14-42 lens, which is much smaller in diameter than the barrel on the Panasonic lens. The barrel of the 45-140 panasonic lens is also smaller than the corresponding Oly lens and the mounting bayonets are different, too. There is no way I can see of adapting it. Probably is best to just get a set of good close-up lenses.PETER M : I tried this on my olympus digicam. Seriously I would not consider it or even worry about an adapter. There are better options out there. I exchanged this for a Marumi DHG Achromat Macro Converter. Better picture quality. You can find one that will screw on to your existing lenses.
Shopper : But- can I attach it right to the lens? Do I need an adaptor? The description indicates it needs an adaptor but seems to state its enclosed with the lens when you buy it. Thanks for the help- goochSYBIL S : I had the same problem. It was advertised as if the adaptor was included. After having sent my first one back, they sent me another. Also without an adaptor. I could not find anywhere that had an adaptor. After several go rounds with customer service I finally sent the second one back and cancelled the order. Even Olympus did not have an adaptor!!! Customer service said that the ad on the Adorama website said that it was needed but not included. That's not how I read it. This is the only time I have ever had difficulty with Adorama and I've ordered a lot from them.KIRK B : It attaches directly to the lens of only these specific lenses. You remove the silver protective ring from the end of the lens in question. This will expose the threads to attach this lens adapter to. Don't be shocked at the very light weight of this lens adapter...it does an average job at getting you a good shot. But really it is an inexpensive attempt at this...the versatility of these 3 converters with the 14-42mm part 2 has been nice...I can easily expand my capabilities with these. I am new and this is my hobby.EDWARD S : Hello! I actually had the same question when I got mine. The converter attaches to the front of both kit lenses. The adapter for one of the lenses is attached to the lens. Take it off and the converter fits the other lens. Hope this helps. -EdANDREW R : This unit works with the following lenses (use with the 14-42mm requires the included macro adapter MA-P01 for attaching the MCON-P01): Master Lens M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 (Focal length set to maximum tele position recommended) Focusing Range: 0.42-0.57m; Magnification: 0.47x (Micro Four Thirds) /0.94x (35mm format) Master Lens M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6 (Focal length set to maximum tele position recommended) Focusing range: 0.35-0.57m, Magnification: 0.4x (Micro Four Thirds) / 0.8x (35mm format) Master Lens M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II (Focal length set to maximum tele position recommended) Not compatible with previous versions of this lens Focusing range: 0.24-0.51m, Magnification: 0.28x (Micro Four Thirds) / 0.56x (35mm format)
Shopper : Does this macro adapter fit the olympus epl1 PEN lenses? Do I need to buy another adapter to make it fit? In the description, it looks like this lens needs a MA-P01 to attach but it says its enclosed so does it come with everything I need to attach it to my lens?DAVID R : The Macro Converter is designed for the following Olympus M.Zuiko Digital lenses: 14-42mm II, 14-42mm II R, ED 14-150mm, ED 40-150mm, and ED 40-150mm R. All of the lenses above are compatible with the EPL-1. Note the versions on some of these lenses (II and R). The EPL-1 came standard with the 14-42mm; later pens came with the II and II R lenses. So you would need to purchase one of the lenses above in order to use the macro converter. And if you're thinking of the other converters (wide angle and fish eye), those are only compatible with the 14-42 II and 14-42 II R.KEVIN F : This ships with just the macro converter & you wont need another adapter. Keep in mind this doesnt fit the original 14-42mm lens. I attach it to the 40-150mm ED. It takes nice shots & easy to attach / remove once you get the hang of it.Kenneth M : I sold this camera and the gear several months ago (I upgraded) so I am working off of memory here. I remember when buying the MCON that I had to play with it for a few minutes before figuring out how to attach it. It works but I remember being surprised that it was all plastic housing. But it did come with everything it needed to attach it.REBECCA S : No, you do not need to buy an adapter. It fits right onto the lens. I have an E-PL2, but I imagine it would fit the same. I hope this helps. BTW, I love it ;)DIANA A : No I don't think so, there is 2 versions of the m.zuiko 14-42mm kit lens, this adapter only fits the newer version the 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 II which I don't think has been offered as a kit lens for the epl1 like it has with some of the other pen cameras. As far as I know there is currently no adapter available for this converter to fit on the older kit lens.EILENE B : I had the EP-3 & it fit that. I'm not sure about the EPL-1YANIV A : I believe it will only fit on the 14-42mm II and 40-150mm lenses. It won't fit on all of them.Robert B : If the E-PL1 came with the 14-42mm II series lens, yes. This lens takes a 37mm filter. If it is the older 14-42 that takes a 40.5mm filter, then the answer is NO. The macro lens' native mount is a 58mm bayonet, and it comes with the step-down adapter for the 37mm bayonet on the 14-42 II. Hope this helps.SCOTT I : Fits right on the 14-42mm. Just ordered a 40-150mm and will try it this week. STEVE B : It depends on which lens. There are many lenses that work with the EPL1. The adapter fits the lenses listed in the title and the 45/1.8.

Good invest

I just tried the Olympus mirrorless system and don't wanna pay too much for the expensive micro lens, so I bought it. I use the M.Zuiko 40-150mm 1:4-5.6 lens with it, the result is more than I can expected. The plastic material works well and stay firm enough on the lens. Highly recommend.

Beware

Although the converter said that it fits several lenses, an adaptor is necessary and is unavailable for the 14-55mm lens. I returned it twice until someone realized that the adaptor was not supposed to be in the box. I have been unable to find the adaptor and cancelled the order. Don't know how it works because I was unable to use it.

Great value

This is a neat little extension that clips on to the end of the kit standard and telephoto zoom. As they recommend, it's best used at the bigger end of the zoom, with better results on the telephoto, where it increases close up significantly. See http://www.ephotozine.com/article/olympus-pen-converter-lenses-tested-16886 for pics and review. As it's pretty much like a filter, I'm assuming it could go on other lenses with an adapter, but I haven't been able to test that. It does have a very narrow focal range so you'll find you have to move the camera back and forth a bit from your subject to get it in focus, which isn't usually a problem with macro shots anyway. Obviously no match for an actually macro lens, but given it's cheap as chips and adds on to your existing kit (and there's no Olympus macro yet), it's a good buy.

Cheap Plastic Feel

Like everything else they put out for the Pen series, Cheap plastic feel, and Works ok. Going to end up with a Nikon soon due to the poor build quality of M.Zuiko lens for Micro 4/3. Also Olympus has a terrible warranty for M.Zuiko Lenses for micro 4/3. The Pen Cameras are great , but the lenses made for it by Olympus/Zuiko lack seriously when it comes to build quality.
