Fab camera but read my review re raw imports !!
I already have the a9 mk1 so know how good this camera is, At the moment though - mid Nov 2019 - the camera is not worth using due to Sony / Adobe (not sure which) not sorting out the ability to import raw files from this camera into Lightroom. There is a labourious workaround involving downloading additional software, importing the raw fils as tiffs and then importing those into LR but what a pain it is to do that. Come on Sony /Adobe please get this sorted asap
The Sony A9ii is the correct choice if your photography involves subjects in motion...PERIOD. 20FPS Awesome
I received my A9ii on November 7th from Adorama. For reference, I had an A7r2 and now have an A7r3 in addition to the A9ii. These 2 cameras have very different skills. For detailed pictures of slow or stationary subjects, the high resolution A7r3 (or the newer r4 of course) would be the proper tool. The A9ii specialty is capturing subjects in motion. Designed to improve the speed of news agencies workflow, the Alpha 9 II features a Voice Memo function that allows spoken information to be attached to images which can convey important information when sent to the editor. Voice memos up to 60 seconds in length can be recorded and attached as a WAVE file with the same name as the image file which can be transferred via FTP along with the corresponding image data without the need for additional equipment or software.
Transfer & Tagging add-on App
Voice memos can be read into the Transfer & Tagging add-on application and automatically converted to text captions in regions where Google services are available. The Transfer & Tagging add-on application can then automatically add the converted text to JPEG images in the form of IPTC metadata, or the text can be manually copied and pasted as required. When using the Transfer & Tagging add-on application to transfer images with attached voice memos from a smartphone to an FTP server, it is possible to select JPEG only or JPEG+WAVE for transfer.
By combining the automatic voice to text conversion and text embedding functionality with the application’s ability to auto transfer images with attached voice memos via FTP, it is possible to automatically embed text information in images with attached voice memos that have been transferred from the camera to the smartphone and upload the results to an FTP server without having to operate the smartphone.
