It works as advertised. It doesn't add any filter, but rather acts as a lens protector. Does not affect video and picture quality.

I purchased this for my Sony FE 85mm F1.8 E-Mount NEX Lens for protection. I can’t see a difference in my images so that’s great. The filter is just protecting not altering my images.

I ordered the product for my newly purchased Sony FE 1.8/50 mm lens. No real tests conducted. Image shot with new filter viewed on my computer at 100%: I can see small well defined dust / filaments on smooth surfaces.

This lens protector does a nice job at protecting the lens. I use it all the time outdoors to protect the lens from the elements. There are no color change nor distortion of the pictures because of the lens protector. I highly recommend using this and protecting your lens from dust and scratches.

This lens protector is not cheap but is beautiful and worth the money. I bought three of them for my NEX7 lenses. They fit beautifully and I feel better now that all three of my lenses are protected especially since I will be going on a couple of trips outside of the USA.

When I opened the package, it appeared at first glance that Zeiss forgot to insert the glass; but it was so thoroughly transparent that I had to touch this filter to prove that the glass was, indeed, there. At that point, I knew it would be a huge benefit, for I had been protecting my lens with a non-Zeiss Skylight filter. After I replaced the old with this new Zeiss VF-49MPAM protector, I took a few pictures with my Sony DSC-RX1. The images were comparable to the same subjects taken through the lens alone. With the protector attached, the color came out an exact match to the live subjects and the images were distortion free. The Carl Zeiss T* prime lens on the RX1 is completely compatible with this Carl Zeiss T*. For any high resolution camera or Carl Zeiss lens, I recommend this accessory.

I recently bought the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 ZA lens for NEX and need a protection filter. I bought a B+W 49mm MRC Nano Clear filter, which is a very nice product, but is too thick to allow the hood to fit the lens... However, the Zeiss-Sony 49mm MC filter is thin enough for that. Perfect!

The CZ filters add protection from scratches but my experience was that they also enhanced the photo's. I tried using another cheaper brand filter which caused vignetting, but it was real obvious after switching to the CZ filter that they do make a big difference in photo quality.
