Questions & Answers

Shopper : JTL E-360 monolight strobe: Is it Bowens bayonet so I can re-use my softboxes or do I need to purchase special ring for the softboxes? Thanks.JAY B : It is a Bowens bayonet, but I've found that some of my Bowens diffusers won't quite fit. And some do. But it is supposed to be a Bowens mount.
patricio o : can i power it with a battery ? wich one?JAY B : It has to be plugged into AC power.DOUGLAS Q : Mine is AC power only
Shopper : what is the track for on these lights?Jerry P : It maintains a consistent modeling lamp illumination that is linked to the setting on the main flash tube. FYI, I hate the cheap stand and boom arm on this kit! Just the flash alone exceeds the weight bearing rating for the boom arm, before you add the softbox. Within a week I had the boom arm clamp as well as one of the stand extension clamps both break. Buy the flash/softbox stand alone, and buy Avenger stands and boom arms. They are far superior.

best price / performance

I like this strobe. Consistent result, clear white light, fast recycling, bowens bayonet! Not too big and not to heavy, perfect for second light.

A Sturdy Rugged Monolight

After dropping my old Versalight 200 I figured it was time for a new monolight. Nope! all the 200 needed was a new flashtube and modeling light. I bought it used several years ago and it has out-performed several other brands of monolights I have owned. So I got the Versalight E-360 to add to my setup. It's just as rugged as my old Versalight 200 and has a few more features. I especially like the tracking modeling light. I use the JTL lights on location and they get set up and taken down and moved a lot. Never had a problem. The flashtube and modeling light seem to be a more rugged and protected design than other monolights I have owned. The JTL lights are a little heavier than some of the other brands but that weight translates into a solid durable piece of equipment. My next light will be a JTL as well.
