I shoot a lot of people pictures and out door scenics. The skin tones are always accurate and crisp. The out door colors are realistic and vibrant. I like the 400 speed for the additional f stop it provides when lighting gets difficult. I use 4 or 5 500 w/s Novotron flash units on most of my portrait work with good color rendition.

I use the film for large (20 x 30) and larger prints. You can res-up the negative after scanning it. It has great exposure latitude.

I have been a professional photographer for over 37 years and have been using Portra 400VC film in my Hasselbald cameras since it first came on the market. It can always be relied upon to give me rich colors and renders well in all lighting conditions, idoors or out, natural or artificial. In fact I like this film so well I refuse to go digital because I know I could not get near as good results.

Vivid colors, fine grain and medium contrast. Excellent for outdoor photography, especially on overcast days.
Introduced in 1998, these four films shared breakthrough Single Channel Printing technology, employing the same dyes and couplers. The result:
•same spectral sensitivity and spectral-dye density across film speeds
•remarkably compatible final prints, no matter what combination of PORTRA Films shot: 120/220 and 35 mm formats, natural color an d vivid color, 160 and 400 speeds
