Graduated Neutral Density Filters

A graduated neutral density filter is bisected and features clear, unfiltered glass on one side and a neutral density filter on the other. This lets you even out the exposure in a scene. By placing the neutral density portion of the filter over the sky, you can even out the scene for good exposure throughout your shot.

Variable Filters

A variable neutral density filter features a range of intensity. Twist the filter’s front element one way and you have a weaker effect. Twist it the other and the effect is stronger. This is the most versatile type of neutral density filter.
