Frankly, I bought this ( on sale) for the tripod. It works great for mounting a game or security camera with a bottom 1/4?-20 socket. It is quite stable, with a height range of about 24? to 57?, so it is useful for recording critters at ground level or birds at an elevated feeder. Probably not too weather resistant, so I will keep it covered with a plastic shroud when used outside. The tripod screw does not have a tightening ring. The ball head has a ring, but it is smooth, not knurled. Haven?t used the ring light or phone holder, but each looks well-made and can be used separately. The phone clamp is spring-loaded and holds phones with width of about 2-1/4? to 3?, so the largest phones won?t fit. The specs should include the clamp capacity. To connect the phone holder to a tripod requires a ?sex-change? adapter such as the ?CAMVATE 1/4"-20 Female to 1/4"-20 Female Screw Double Thread Adapter? ($4.98) or ?ProMediaGear CSMPAS 1/4"-20 Male to 1/4"-20 Female Stud Thumb Screw Connector Converter? ($5.95).
