I'm a landscape photographer and have been using various ball heads for years. However, I now use this head almost exclusively instead. In combination with my Leofoto tripod with built-in leveling base it is the perfect head for landscape. There is a nice big bubble level in its center that is very easy to see even with the camera mounted. Once level, I can adjust composition up and down and side to side without having to worry about re-leveling the camera. I was always having to re-level using the camera's internal level after adjusting the composition with a ball head. The head is very sturdy and moves smoothly with a separate tension adjustment so the camera won't flop down when the main tilt knob is loosened. The main knob has a nice rubberized feel. The panorama base works great and is marked with easily-readable degree indicators, as is the tilt. The quick-release also has a rubberized knob and getting the camera mounted is a breeze. Also, the quick-release can be reoriented by 90 degrees with a knob just below, which makes mounting a long lens with a foot more convenient. The only time I use a ball head now is when I need to put the camera very low and at an awkward angle when shooting closeups of flowers for example.

The reason for purchasing this was twofold. The ball head I was using could slip when I used my 55-200 telephoto zoom lens on my X-T20. As I frequently take panoramic photos and this Acratech Panoramic & Tilt head has a 25 lb load capacity, I purchased it. The head is rock solid when using my zoom telephoto and the panoramic feature works well. The head is well machined and precisely made. The knobs are easy to turn and they lock down the tilting head, the arca plate, and the panoramic base well. I use this head with the Acratech leveling base which makes it very easy to level the head without having to adjust the tripod legs. Greg

I purchased this head to create multi-row panos. I have a nodal rail in the quick release and telephoto zoom mounted in the nodal rail. Using the degrees on the base and degrees on the tilt I was able to create a stunning 14 image two row pano with no problems.. I used Photoshop CC 2019 new pano stich. I took my 600mm f4. super telephoto to photograph ducks. I was dismayed when I realized I forget to take my gimbal head. I remember the Acratech video for the large lens head. This is the same head with markings for pano. It did a very good job and allowed me to photograph and save my trip that day. Great build, great pano head, and useable large lens head. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to do panos/multi-row panos.
