The BX-5 santiam are incredible they are crystal clear at all times in the early morning midday and late evening and I?m able to spot game from really far away

These BX-5 Santiam 10x50 binoculars are amazing, they capture so much light! I bought the Leupold Pro Harness and they are a tight fit in that harness, I had to take the lens flip caps off in order to be able to close the flap, was a little let down on that, but that is a different review. The binoculars themselves are really incredible, I have compared these to Swaros 10x50 and are almost indistinguishable especially for the price difference you cannot go wrong. I can see detail in deer at dawn and dusk that I cannot even spot the deer themselves with my naked eye. These are well worth the purchase! Customer Service Review that needs to be read! I sent my BX-2 Acadia in for a minor warranty claim, the sheathing/rubber surround was coming unglued on the left tube. No major issue, but I called Leupold and they said they were happy to fix it and to send it in. If my Acadia's could not be fixed I asked if I could use them towards buying up to the next level of binoculars, which the technicians said there were some options and that they would make sure I was happy with what was being returned. Fast forward and UPS lost the package between Portland and Beverton, OR. After back and forth with UPS and UPS not willing to pay to cover the binoculars I called Leupold to just see by chance if they had shown up. Everyone I spoke with at Leupold had previously been super helpful, nothing different this time, they asked for the tracking number and saw that it had been a more than a few weeks since I shipped them. Leupold had ZERO responsibility in these getting lost, but offered to help me get another pair of Leupold binoculars at a discount because this happened (yes, I did show proof that it was shipped with UPS, proof of a claim, proof from UPS that the package was lost). Because of this I was able to buy the BX-5 Santiam, THIS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS UNMATCHED! I have multiple Leupold products, and without a doubt if I wasn't already am a CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. Again, they had zero responsibility in the package getting lost or UPS not honoring their insurance, but they took the steps to make the situation right!

Really wanted to love these. Optically overall just as clear as or better than my dad's older Swaros and Zeiss binos. Feels ruggedly made. Well balanced. Just could not get a decent field of view with my eyeglasses on. I initially though there was some manufacturing issue and I received a pair with an eye relief much less than the 16.6 mm spec relief. Ultimately I realized my issue is with the Eye cups. These are listed as having just over 16 mm of Eye relief. They do. If I completely remove the eye cups and place the ocular lens up to my eyeglasses I get a full field of view. With the eye cups in place they are practically useless with eyeglasses on, loosing 50+ % of the field of view. The eye cups like the rest of the construction are rugged, fairly stiff rubber that will protect the lenses, but in doing this the lip of the eye cup is a significant distance from the surface of the ocular lens. I measured the depth at 6-7 mm. This makes the effective eye relief closer to 10 or less mm for those using eye glasses. When using without glasses the only time I get a full field of view is with the Eye cups completely in and the flange of the eye cups touching my orbit. Extending the eyecups at all compromises the FOB. The eye cups are a bit larger than those in the other binos I compared them to trying to figure out what was going on(an older swaro Habicht SL, Bushnell Legend M series 10x42, upland optics perception HD 10x42) All of these have a slightly smaller eye cup with a rounded edge that being smaller fit a little deeper in my orbit and I find full FOV with the eyecups 50% extended. I was between buying these vs a ziess/swaro model. These all sat more comfortably because of the the rounded profile vs the Bx-5s stiff/thin protrusion. After looking at the optical data and reviews I choose these as a more affordable alternative to "alpha" quality European glass and wanted to support made in the USA. Its a shame that these are overall great quality glass but are rendered worthless by a little 5 mm design flaw/protrusion of rubber.

I've been using these here in Texas, mostly hunting from a blind looking at lots of land. I like that both eyepieces are adjustable, but I feel like I have not yet become completely adept at getting them adjusted to my eye right away. I bought the adapter to use these on a tripod, but then found that my nikon tripod is a different size...I guess I'll have to get a dedicated tripod for these...These did help me to pass on a buck that I still think about! He should have been a nice 8, but apparently broke off both of his brow tines. I have shot two 7 points in the last couple of seasons with different broken brow tines. I have a 9 and a couple of 10's on the wall, but still no 8...I'm still hunting

I have used this for hunting Elk in the mountains to deer in the prairie. The clarity is second to none. I've always wanted a high quality pair of binos and these definitely do not disappoint

I have had several types of Binoculars from Leupold over the years. I am aging and have noticed the ol' eyes are not what they used to be. My 10x bino's were not picking up horn tips and such with my old eyes. My first trip out with these 12's and I noticed an immediate improvement in picking out little items at a good distance. It's heck getting older!
