Variable scopes may well be popular and sell well but I am a fan of fixed power for specialized purposes. Too bad you cut back on fixed power production so I am forced to crank in a setting and keep it there. Anyhow, you continue to make fine products and I like my Leupold scope.

The red dot at the three highest setting is when it's possible to see even in a dark room at night, the hold overs are very hard to see also even when looking at the target, i own three other luepolds and they are all of high quality don't know where the quality went on this one if they won't let me return it I will put it on my grandson's Daisy Red Ryder very disappointed to say the least

My Mark 3HD 4-12x40 Firedot TMR ticked all my boxes for a shorter barrel . 308 bolt gun. MPVO. Very usefully illuminated. Very light weight. Mil-Dot second focal plain. MRAD turrets. Elevation good to 600m, with stop. Good glass. Good warranty and real support. Lacking a fifth star because they included the wrong size Allen for the elevation turret. Should be 1/16", not 0. 05". Also there is play in the windage before first click. And I could only get it at MSRP, which was expensive after adding their nice caps and good rings.

This scope is mounted on an older refurbished Anschutz . 22 LR. The gun is utilized as a plinker/trainer at 25 and 50 yards. For me, the power range and reticle are perfect for the guns intended use. The features and quality of the scope for the price are outstanding. I am very happy with my purchase.

Very happy with my new MK 3HD. it seems like the perfect fit for my AR that is normally shot under 200 yds. The FireDot is a very nice feature in low light.

This lightweight little scope is fantastic for the price. Optical clarity is good. Has the tried-and-true Mil-Dot reticle. The reticle is in the second focal plane. So simply leave your scope on 9 power magnification, and your mils are correct. This is not a scope for extreme long range. With this scope you get 5.6 Mils of elevation adjustment. That gets my rifle out to 700 yards. 5.6 mils is in slightly less than one revolution of the elevation dial. The elevation dial also has a zero stop. Those two features mean it is impossible to become lost in what revolution you are on. Windage dial is just for zeroing the scope. You will have to use the reticle to correct for wind with this scope.

Solid for what it is. Lightweight, clear glass. Easy hits with a 50 meter zero, 2.7ish mil hold at 500 yards (I know, the distance measurements are mismatched) with 5.56 55 grain from a 16" barrel. Firedot is daylight bright. The windage knob is where they saved money and weight. It is awfully mushy. It is a guessing game when trying to make small zero adjustments to the windage. After zeroing it? hopefully you don't swap optics often otherwise zeroing is going to get old. This optic should be almost permanent on your firearm. If so, after zeroing, you don't ever touch the windage knob anyway. Within any purposes I might have for this, it is a five star optic, given they had to cut something, they did it where it makes sense. I pair this with an aero precision ultralight mount and an offset holosun comp red dot to do 1x better for me than a tube could (making 1.5x perfect), and it is super fun to work with. Magnification isn't just about distance- it can be very useful for precision at closer targets too. Good to go for a variety of purposes. Offset red dot lets you hose close transition targets a little faster.

I like the scope but wish it was offered in MOA as well as Mill adjustments.

It's a Leupold optic. There's not much more to say. Glass is super clear, edge to edge. The TMR reticle is easy to utilize, and once you know your round's trajectory, it's pretty much point and press the trigger. The dot intensity is easily fine-tuned for different lighting conditions, but also simple enough to find the happy medium brightness setting. The 1.5 magnification does not hinder the ability to use this scope for a reflex sight at all.

I'm very happy with the scope. I purchased the rings and mounts for a Mauser action at the same time. Ideally I might have been advised that the scope is too short to be mounted directly to the receiver, and requires a rail system. Lack of research on my part, but potentially a way to improve the scope selection process.

Great target scope. My eyes prefer leupold glass for sure. I would say this scope feels and shoots better than my Vortex non-razor scopes. Of course, it's American made. Will continue to buy vortex scopes.

I've had scopes that cost more but they weren't any better. Most of my rifles carry a Leupold scope because I haven't found other scopes as good for the price.

Clear glass, rugged design, and a good choice for my 308 AR rifle.
Great short/mid range scope
By Jeffrey D.
Scope has good lense clarity and light transmission. Hash marks are right on. Overall size is great for braced pistols. Regarding Really?! review. It should read ?really dumb***?; 1 star on a premium made & backed scope, because you can?t read the specs before purchasing. People like you screw up overall ratings for others that are shopping based on 4 or 5 stars only products. For up close & fast, a good 1.5 is still fine for both eyes open.
An embodiment of precision and versatility, the Mark 3HD 3-9x40 Riflescope is a testament to Leupold's commitment to quality optics. Engineered for the discerning shooter, this riflescope boasts a popular magnification range, allowing for swift target acquisition whether engaging in close-quarters or long-range shooting. The matte black finish not only adds a sleek, professional look but also enhances durability.
The robust 30mm maintube provides a substantial range of windage and elevation adjustments, ensuring pinpoint accuracy even at extended distances. The illuminated Second Focal Plane FireDot TMR Reticle, with its Tactical Milling Reticle design, is optimized for both rapid target engagement and precise shot placement. The P5 dial facilitates MIL-based adjustments, making it a breeze for shooters to compensate for bullet drop and wind drift.
At the heart of this optic is Leupold's Elite Optical System, which guarantees exceptional light transmission, reduced glare, and sharp resolution across all lighting conditions. Shooters can count on the HD performance to deliver crisp, clear images, ensuring that no detail goes unnoticed.
The illuminated reticle, featuring seven brightness settings, is paired with an intuitive illumination dial, allowing for quick adjustments to match ambient lighting conditions. This feature is particularly beneficial in scenarios where lighting can change rapidly, providing a clear aiming point at all times.
Leupold's innovative ZeroStop system is a standout feature, offering a reliable return to zero after dialing temporary elevation corrections. This prevents overshooting the zero mark and maintains your settings for consistent performance.
Customization is at the forefront with the Custom Dial System (CDS), which allows shooters to tailor the turret to specific ballistic profiles. Once set up, this system simplifies the process of making accurate shots at varying distances - just range, dial, and shoot with confidence.
Incorporating Motion Sensor Technology (MST), the Mark 3HD conserves battery life by deactivating the illuminated reticle after a period of inactivity. The reticle reactivates instantly upon detecting motion, ensuring that it's ready whenever you are.
The FireDot TMR reticle is designed to provide accurate subtensions at the highest magnification setting, maintaining the correct size and scale in the field of view across different models of this riflescope.
Proudly designed, machined, and assembled in Leupold's Oregon factory, the Mark 3HD 3-9x40 Riflescope is rigorously tested to ensure it stands up to the toughest conditions. It's built to be completely waterproof and fogproof, offering reliable performance in any environment. Leupold's commitment to excellence is further underscored by their lifetime guarantee, ensuring that this riflescope will be a trusted companion for years to come.
