I love all of my Leupold products, except this VX-3L 6.5-20x56mm scope. I have it on my Remington sendero SF2 7mm ultra mag. In the beginning I struggled sighting it in. You could group a few shots, then out of nowhere it would sling one 6 or more inches in any direction at 100 yards. With it being such a hot round I paid careful attention to the barrel temperature. I Checked the mounts. I tried about 6 different brands of ammo and let other people shoot it, always ending with the same result. Finally I caved in and took it to a gun shop and told them to figure it out. The shop owner immediately showed me the short comings of this scope. With it in a gun vise and you not touching the gun, he pointed out how the cross hairs would move all over the target when you slowly moved your eye around. Bottom line is, between shots, if you don't put your cheek in exactly the same spot on the comb it was going to shoot somewhere else regardless of the sight picture.

Bought this scope years ago for my model 70 winchester .270. I have taken deer near and far. Longest was from one ridge to another took a moving deer. Will have another so I can mount it on my weatherby.

My Son and I put our Browning X-Bolts (.300 Win. Mag.) with Leupold VX-3L 6.5-20X56 scopes through the wringer for nine days in the backcountry of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Rain, freezing rain, snow sleet, hail, and graupel. Temperatures from 45 F. down to 15 F.. A 60-foot-by-20-inch Lodgepole Pine fell on my Son's rifle. It held zero. Both rifles have been on many Whitetail hunts in PA, good weather and bad. (Mostly bad...) The scopes still function like new. The low-mount feature is excellent! I sight in zeroed at 250 yards and I am three inches high at 100 yards, three inches low at 300 yards. Basically, I just hold right on from muzzle to 300 yards. I also like the fact that the scope adjusts in 0.1 MOA increments. I do not understand why Leupold discontinued this line of scopes. I love mine.

I have a number of the VX-3L range of scopes. These are all very impressive. Everyone who uses the rifles they are mounted to is very happy with them. The light, field of view, and low mounting are surperior to anything of similar or more value. Was very disappointed when this range was remove from the catalogue.

The VX-3L range was great. Enables good light, field of view and mounting. Everyone is envious of these scopes. Unfortunately they are no longer available. In total I have 5 of these scopes on rifles.
