I bought this monitor for one of my side panels to go alongside my 32" center displays. I am happy with the color and clarity. As long as it works for v awhile I will be over-joyed.

CAUTION Inspect your panel for any defects. It is a great monitor with great color contrast, depth of color and is a sharp image. I haven't tested it in terms of refresh rate or using FreeSync FYI.

I had to switch from iMac to a Mac Studio to keep up with the demands of my 3D CAD software upgrades. This display is a more-than-adequate replacement to the iMac. Sure, it's not Retina, but I don't think my eyesight is good enough anyway to really notice much of a difference. Now that I'm using this I almost prefer it over the glossy glass screen of the iMac. The price compared to the Mac displays is definitely a winner.

This is an okay monitor. The panel is good, sharp and clear; the brightness is fine compared to others. However, you will notice that two same model monitors are always physically different (I guess they don't manufacture it well). They usually come with some defectives. I own 2 monitors: one has defective stand; the another has broken USB downstream. At first (1 month after I bought it), I thought two USB-A downstream can't charge anything, but I realized they are broken because I plug in my USB or my mouse receiver and they're not working. BUT THE WORST: Customer service is TERRIBLE! I called in today to ask how to fix it. The customer representative tried to avoid the conversation about the problem, instead she asks random things about other features and said this happen because I didn't use the compatible cable for my USB-A ports. Hello? These are USB-A downstream, not a DP or HDMI inputs. So, she put me on hold to and then sneakily hang up on me. I tried to call back again, and they again hang up my phone. My recommendation is to get a Dell S2722QC instead. I did my research and come up these two monitors. They have the same display panel and that's only thing I choose. Don't make my mistake going for a more expensive one with terrible customer's support.

The display is good, nice matte finish and bright for a consumer level model (400 nits). The matrix of options for color profiles is both confusing and overly complicated, while masquerading as simple for a home user. There are frustrating options like "Black Stabilizer" and "Super Resolution+" which make it sound like something good but actually is just more automated garbage like TruMotion. Also, getting a proper HDR image is extremely hard. There is only one picture mode that actually supports the VesaHDR standard, but when sending it the display a proper Rec 2020 signal, the image is all wrong. There is the "HDR Effect" in the SDR mode, and that looks pretty nice, but obviously NOT HDR. So, I don't even know if this really does HDR at all - more like it just optimizes SDR to look closer to HDR contract level - at 400 nits. So? ¯\_(?)_/¯

Since buying this I have been pulling my hair out to try to get it set up. I have spent numerous hours on the chat line and got no where. After two days I got desperate and rebooted my computer. It went through a whole bunch of stuff for about an hour and a half and finally the monitor came on. I still don't have complete access. I can not turn the screen off at will nor do anything with that joy-stick button. The monitor shuts off periodicly and starts a computer reboot on its own. By the way the model is 27UP80B not 850-W. Would love some compitant help to get it set up properly

The small size of the new MBA was a disappointment on my desk. Adding the LG 27UP850, together with the new Universal control made the new monitor/laptop a perfect match to my 27 inch iMac

We have had two of these monitors for over three months and we have been very satisfied with their performance, however, one of the monitors developed a problem where it would turn off and then back on at random times. We swapped the monitors and the problem followed the monitor. We contacted LG service and, after reviewing the problem, they issued a shipping label and shipping instructions. The monitor was repaired and returned to us just over a week later. We don't like having a problem with a new higher end device but we are very happy with LG and their quick response to resolving the problem.

Just got the UP850 a couple days ago and I am so sorry I did. Hooked up my mac mini HDMI port out into the UP850 HDMI port and no signal. So HDMI to HDMI and nothing. USB-C to USB-C (mac mini to UP850) and works but picture is horrible. Same thing with USB-C out from mac mini to DP port in...works but horrible picture. The idea was to get the best picture possible. No where in the LG literature does it note the resolution changes from outputs which it obviously does. It says "plug and play" and it isn't. So I spend MORE money and get a USB-C to HDMI connector and, wow, great picture BUT NOW the USB ports no longer turns on my LED backlighting (which worked with the USB-C to USB-C connection). Also, the LG Calibration Studio app doesn't work in the HDMI mode and it keeps running and I can't delete or uninstall the app. All this information should be included in the literature for serious buyers (in the owners manual). The manual is set up for true beginners into this stuff but even that is horribly written. I'm not being harsh, simply stating the facts. I would not purchase this again. My old crummy monitor went HDMI to HDMI with no issues. The isea was to get modern and make things simpler not more convoluted. BTW, I have purchased two LG OLED 65" sets and have talked two others into purchasing same. The issue IS NOT THE MONITOR! It is the lack of information that is needed to make an informed decision. Why doesn't the HDMI in work from the mac mini HDMI out? Why does the USB port no longer charge when just the HDMI port is used but charges when the USB-C port is used? Why does the USB-C to USB-C connection have inferior quality while from the USB-C (mac mini) to the UP850 HDMI in look superior?

Bought this monitor to use with a 16? MacBook Pro. The single cable for charging, video, and USB (for a webcam) is great. Picture is sharp, DCI-P3 mode is a fairly close match to the colors of a MacBook. The HDR mode looks pretty bad, and the screen works a lot better with a Mac when it?s off. Could be fine to leave on with a game console or something, but it just makes the colors look weird with a Mac. The antiglare finish looks kind of hazy compared to the glass Mac screen. Would love it if there were a monitor like this available with a glossy screen but unfortunately nobody seems to make one in this price range. I?m not sure what the speakers are for, and I doubt I?ll ever use them.

I am a gamer and as such I have been in search of screens to befit the next generation of gaming. This means that certain qualities and specs are a must have. I play many games ranging from the mundane but brain engaging puzzle games to RPGs and FPSs. I own all consoles in the current line up from the Nintendo switch to the Xbox one along with an amazing RTX 2070 GFX card enabled gaming PC. What I am looking for to maximize and fully take advantage of the new consoles was the ability to be able to play 4K games natively at 60FPS or better. Now there are many monitors out there that give you this, however one of the key distinguishing factors of this monitor is that it comes with HDR10. These days visual graphics have become such a key factor in how well a game does. Because of this more and more game developers pay close attention to the visuals of a game. HDR10 allows that extra level of detail to be witnessed on the screen. When comparing the same game on 2 different screens side by side the evidence was abundantly clear that the LG monitor was what I was missing out on. I thought God of War looked amazing in beautiful 4k but adding HDR to it made the visuals pop out so much more! I played the new Vault of Glass Raid on Destiny 2 and was blown away at how magnificent the entire level looked! It is very responsive as I did not see any kind of input lag on anything that I played whether it be on my Xbox or PlayStation or even my computer. A few key things to note. It is VESA mount capable. It does come with a very sturdy and versatile stand of its own but if you already have a VESA mount setup and want to add this to it then there wont be any issues there. It has a decent speaker system built in to it. They definitely gave it much thought when designing the controls for this as they made the mute function very easily accessible. Just tap left or right to bring up the volume menu and then tap forward (towards yourself) to mute. Other monitors I have had to turn the volume all the way down so this little feature was amazing to have! If you are a gamer and have been wanting to take your gaming experience to the next level, or are someone looking to upgrade your gear especially if you have the next gen consoles to take full advantage of being able to game in full 4K60FPS with HDR10 then look no further than this LG monitor! This review is for the LG 27UP850-W screen. A quick note before I start. I received this monitor at a discounted price but this review reflects my complete unbiased opinion and experiences. The monitor was packaged securely, and the screen was protected well. The monitor included an HDMI, Display Port, and a USB C cable, as well as the power adapter. The monitor was easy to assemble and set up. The included stand is height adjustable, offers a good amount of tilt and can be rotated 90 degrees to display the monitor in portrait. I intended to mount the monitor to a monitor arm instead using 100x100 VESA. You need to remove the four screws that are under the monitor stand slot (where you would normally attach the included monitor stand). The monitor has several ports, 2 HDMI, a Display Port, USB C input, 2 regular USB outputs and a headphone jack. Once it was all assembled and ready to use, the monitor was stunning! The main reason I have this monitor is to review photos. I am a hobbyist photographer and needed a color accurate and bright monitor to be able to review my photos. The LG 27UP850 is an excellent monitor. It produces bright vibrant images. The screen itself is matte (and not glossy), which is my preference since there are no harsh reflections. The monitor uses an IPS panel, with great viewing angles. I used the monitor in portrait mode and the image did not appear washed out. The OSD menu can be accessed by a joystick under the monitor, at the center. The menu layout is simple and easy to use. The monitor also has built-in speakers which have a decent volume. It would not beat a dedicated set of speakers; however, it is sufficient. The USB C port can power a laptop (up to 90w). The USB C port also carries the video signal. So, if you have a USB C PD laptop, you can use that to run the monitor. The USB C port also can be used for data transfer to the regular USB ports allowing the monitor to act as a hub. I have used the monitor to evaluate a couple of photo shoots and watch several 4K videos. The images look crisp and vibrant. There was great depth and detail in the 4k video. Overall, the monitor offers excellent image quality and is packed with excellent features. I would recommend this monitor if you are looking for a 4K monitor with USB C. The USB C cable allows you to have the perfect 1 cable solution for a laptop..

I received my LG monitor about two weeks ago and I immediately set it up. Since then I have used it for work and play. The large screen allows me to effeciently organiza different app screen on the same screen all at the same time which was great. The ability to use usb-c to connect to my laptop and easy and avoids clutter. Playing my Xbox on the monitor was excellent crisp clean 4K HDR gaming with excellent refresh rate and no lag. Once you get a well built unit is a great monitor for the price. I had to return the first unit because something was off with the colors. After two weeks of use i gotta say that the construction and ergonomics (tilt, height) are great. Furthermore the colors are accurate and the brightness is decent. By pixel peeping I can notice a very slight tint shift: green to the left and magenta to the right. But I believe this has to do with the IPS technology because the effect diminishes if you reposition your head.

The clean presence immediately helped create a calming work environment. USB Type - C reduces clutter by using just one connection for charging my 15" Macbook, 4K display, and wired mouse + keyboard. The mouse and keyboard can be plugged into the USB slots on the monitor. Loved this! Just this feature by itself made it worth spending the money on the 27UP850, with improved productivity and function. I really can't stress the ease of setup and connectivity enough. I was ready to work in 5 minutes total with just the power and USB-C cable to connect (provided). But there is much more. Picture quality is excellent with VESA DisplayHDR, and you can get up to 400 nits of brightness. I toned mine down for work, getting crisp, clear text and images. Editing and viewing images in HDR is a pleasure. To really enjoy 4K and HDR at the next level I connected my 4K Amazon Fire Stick into the HDMI slot. Wow, it's a great viewing experience, and using headphones enhances the experience even further. I was using 2 monitors in the past, but the size (27") and quality of this monitor enables me to use just one external monitor with my Macbook. First off, I've never had a 4k monitor before this LG model 27UP850-W. I've been a big fan of LG monitors, having purchased a few before this. The screen size was going to be an upgrade, regardless, but 27" seemed to be a nice sweet spot. I first thing I noticed when I unboxed the monitor was how solid a sturdy the stand was. Many times monitor stands felt cheap and not very solid. Next, the moment I connect this monitor to my PC, I was immediately blown away by the clarity and sharpness of my background. I went out and downloaded a 4k wallpaper to see how much better this was going to look. It did not disappoint. I was pleased with having both HDMI and DisplayPort as an option. It's always nice to have options. Not every video card comes standard with either or. I knew that it had USB-C, but I assumed it would be there for charging (which it does. Little did I realize when I plugged my phone into it, It wanted to display it! Very cool. Something I may try out more. Finally, I loved the white backplate/cables. It goes perfectly with my white PC case. Makes for a very clean look. Overall, excellent monitor! I was able to setup easily and the Box contained all the needed cables. I am very impressed with the hdr once I enabled the setting in my pc display settings. This screen is more bright and colorful than my previous display. I love all the resolution that 4k gives you. The included stand allows lots or different adjustments to get monitor to the correct height. Overall this monitor is a great value and will make editing videos and playing games more enjoyable. The 27 inch size is amazing when I play call of duty! This screen was easy to mount to the included deluxe stand. I can move screen up and down.
