Shopper : What is a spotting scope, and how do you use it?BRIAN M : Here is a good definition I found on wikipedia. "A spotting scope is a small portable telescope with added optics to present an erect image, optimized for the observation of terrestrial objects. They are used for birdwatching and other naturalist activities, for hunting, verifying a marksman's shots, surveillance, and for any other application that requires more magnification than a pair of binoculars, typically on the order of 20× to 60×."
It's like a telescope for objects on the earth rather than in space.
BTW, I bought this bag and really like it. I do not have a spotting scope. I bought it as a cost effective way to accommodate my Canon 70D with an attached Sigma 150-600 lens. I also have space to fit 2-3 other lens depending on size along with a nice pair of binoculars.I use the bad a lot and am very glad I bought it.WILLIAM H : Spotting scopes are basically compact telescopes used in the field. Scopes are used my military snipers however most of us Use them to view wildlife.JOHN C : I only own the bag, the scope and camera,do not come with it.,I assume the scope help you to spot objects of interest and find the distancenter to determine the top of lens needed ton properly capture the image.Rui W : It is like a telescope for bird watching and wild life watching. I use it on a monopod with 3 feet.
Shopper : Does this pack have a waist belt?JIN K : Yes. The waiste belt can also be tucked away and hidden.B. H : It does not have a waist belt. It is small enough that you don't need it. If you are looking for pack with waist belt, look for larger bag.STEVEN O : No, but it does have a chest strap.Robert B : Nothing at waist level. There is a low chest strap that clips in place.WILLIAM H : NoWESLEY H : No, but it does have a chest strap to keep the shoulder straps together and comfortable.BOON G : It does indeed have a waist strap but it's a rather narrow one--only about an inch wide. Don't expect it to bear most of the weight of the bag. Unlike backpacks with padded hip straps, this model's is meant only to stabilize the bag. When each end of the waist strap is rolled up, it can be tucked away and hidden in the pocket on the bottom leading edge of the bag. I use mine with the strap tucked away, since I only carry a compact Vixen spotting scope, a compact binocular, a field guide plus notebook--a pretty light load. For DSLRs with long lenses, I use Lowepro's Flipside 400, with its broad, padded weight-bearing waist strap.
Shopper : What is the warranty on this item?WILLIAM H : This bag is awesome. Great buy too. Fits my sigma 150-500 lens while attached to my Nikon. Room for a small pair of binoculars and a second lens. The tripod/ monopod strap is nice too.CHARLES F : Didn't check but seems well made.THOMAS A : What Does This Limited Consumer Warranty Cover?
