We bought this and 2 of the camera's only lasted a year, the fans are horribly loud and ended up totally quitting after a couple of years, was told the front was supposed to be touch but none of that works on ours ,never has and I didn't realize it was touch when we first got it so I could have complained. This is the 2nd system we've had from lorex and this one is the worst of the 2, just better be ready to replace sooner than later if you go with this one

Always have on/off connection problem from internet via iphone and client desktop ever since bought this cam feb 2015. Work few days/then off other. Wasted tons of time trying to tweak this thing. When work, video quality over internet is good on remote client desktop using mainstream connection. Very poor video quality when viewing with iphone/ipad with no option to select mainstream, but only substream connection on iphone app. Fan on device often making lots of noise and buzzing at less than 1 year old...need a good smack to keep it quiet for a while.. I recently open it up and found fan was the problem...but able to stop the noise with some adjustment of the screws. Internet connectivity has been nonfunctional at least 6 month and appear death no matter how I adjust the setting. Will call tech support 1 more time then get rid of this camera.

Bought this two years ago to replace a cheap camera DVR that failed. This company seemed to be one of the better brands in the security camera field, they also had a 24 camera DVR which we needed. Setup was easy. Pulling up previous recordings can be a pain as the time seems to get messed up every so often. Biggest problem we have had is it seems like the DVR's Ethernet jack has failed, I've got a support ticket in now and we'll see what happens with that. Removing 1 star for the issues retrieving recordings, and one for the Ethernet jack issue.

I previously had a Bosch unit, and it was lacking in a number of ways. I work in IT, and a few colleagues recommend Lorex. I wanted to get a bunch of available channels to allow me to expand. The Lorex unit was also much more compatible with my Macs and my Android phone. Set up was easy. The configuration options were very good. I can access my cameras from anywhere, and it works reliably. I am giving four stars instead of five because I have a couple of tickets open presently with support, and after a couple weeks time, I have yet to hear back anything from support. Although I also had had hardware issues with Bosch, their support was expedient and stellar. Hopefully I will hear back from Lorex support sometime soon. The tickets simply say "Open" when I check on them.

I installed this Lorex system for the night vision and memory capacity. I also don't have a smart phone so I love the fact that it is PC friendly. With the online support I was soon connected and viewing from my laptop, while my wife viewed from her IPhone. Both were very easy to setup, by following the step by step quick guides. DoubleAA

This works well. I like the software features. The only thing is that the fan is not that quiet. It is ok in an office/den but I wouldn't recommend putting this in a bedroom or a living room. If it was quieter I would give it 5 stars.

What a company ! I can't say enough about how excellent their product, prices, service and tech support are ! The hardware and software to include remote viewing is super simple to use. If you are looking for a DVR and/or cameras then there is no other company that even comes close to Lorex ! Thank you Lorex and keep up the great company that you have !!!

I recently purchased a security camera system from Lorex (LH162400). A little after a month or so it makes a lot noise and it's probably came from the fan. I called Lorex as instruct and got replacement which is still running good at this time. Setting it up was easy and struggle a little bit with setup the URL. With calling to tech support I can get some help to bring it up. These guys are all professionals and pros at their business. I would highly recommend Lorex to anyone who wants a great system with the support behind it.

Great quality DVR. Been in use for almost a year without any issues. The user interface is reasonable but FF and REW are SLOW. Overall, great value for the price!

Wow! This is the easiest product to setup I've seen in years. Swapped out the old DVR and configured the new one in under two hours. Spent several hours reviewing the install PDF and prepping in advance and that really paid off. Tested all functions for an additional hour and this item Works Great! Only wish it hosted more than 3 concurrent remote connections! Sessions reset after 10 mins, so far that works for my client with 17 cameras/users. 3TB HD provides 260 hours of live recording in this configuration (10+ Days).

This had great quality recordings, and gives the ability to manage every aspect remotely, such as playback and exporting footage. BUT remote viewing of the cameras can be clunky, and sometimes crashes.. The big downfall for us is you can only have so many people viewing so many cameras at once over the network and it really comes down to "video feeds" being "remotely viewed" if you have 8 cameras to view per user you can have 5 people view them remotely at the same time if you have 24 which we do. you can only have 2 people view them at the same time. the box only allows 48 "video feeds" at any given time.. and we need ALL of our staff to be able to view ALL of our cameras at ALL times. so we have to move back to our bosch DVR that we have as many users as we want,, "we have yet to find the max" remotely viewing our cameras, but it only have 16 channels... the search for a good 24-32 channel dvr continues

We bought this unit to replace an older system that was difficult to view remotely. The new system was easy to set up and the remote view capability is very good. So far we are very happy with the system. My only disappointment is that you can't hear the sound on the remote view.

Got it up and running quickly and was able to view on laptop and iPhone without too much effort. Very cost effective solution (viewing 21 cameras). Only issue so far is having trouble changing the recording to motion-only from continuous. Other than that been very happy.

This is our third DVR from Lorex. Very easy to set up, but a little trying on the Android app. The first one had an issue with locking up, but has worked fine after reformatting the hard drive. Overall very satisfied with the product and the price. We plan on ordering a fourth one in the near future.

A little buggy here and there, coming from a Samsung DVR, there are things I like about the Lorex and there are some things I dislike about the Lorex. The iPhone app is a little buggy too. The only reason I got this was because it is the only decent 24 channel DVR out there and if you write a review, you get a year extended warranty.

We upgraded our current Lorex system to this unit. The cameras and monitor were already in place so it was a snap to switch out the DVR's. May actually use both DVR's and divide the cameras between the two units to maximize the length of time we can record. The reason we gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because we had problems backing up the old DVR. That's why we got the new one, but we have since figured out a work around.

I installed 2 of these DVRs for a customer one as a new install and one as an upgrade. The new installation went very well with easy configuration. The upgrade was surprisingly simple with capability will both new and old cameras, wired and wireless. The android app worked well with the DVRs, though not flawlessly. Setting up the connectivity can be tricky or can go smooth. The app interface actually is more user friendly than the system interface. However the connections are not always consistent, sometimes it works, sometimes not, then you have to reset connections, verify your cell phone connectivity via data or wifi and start again for it to connect. As mentioned above, the user interface on the main system is not as intuitive as the android app. Certain basic functions should be easier to do than they are. Some functions, like changing camera names, are fairly simple. Changing the video output to the external display monitor (used by the cash registers) was an arduous task that required using both the computer interface and the remote control, changing the display functions and finally rebooting to save the settings (a step not covered in the manual). Although it was possible, it should be a simple task done from the main interface. Overall this DVR is an excellent device with great cross compatibility, fairly easy user interface, simple to record, simple to edit and export to a USB stick, and quite powerful for a unit of this cost.

I have used this 24 channel unit to replace an out of date 16 channel unit. I was able to use all of my existing cameras, see improved clarity and better recording and viewing for continuous motion. Installation, configuration, and fine tuning all took less than 4 hours. Very good remote viewing interface, and I was able to provide other users the ability to view the cameras remotely. I would recommended this unit to anyone who is looking for a 24 channel system. I was able to set up a Droid tablet, iPhone, multiple PC's bot MAC and Windows Xp as well as Windows 7 with very little effort. The replaced unit had a lot of issues with the remote viewing interface. Thank you Lorex.

I needed a 16 CH DVR but this 24 CH was on sale so I bought it. I was renovating, so it took me a couple of months to get to the installation. I had many issues with this one. I have had six other systems (Lorex & competitor) at two locations with three still up. This was my most difficult install and oddly enough it went in a location that a very high speed fibre to the home service (30+ up). It took 90 minutes on the phone with support to get it running at all, and then it was still not showing all 14 cameras (a mixture of styles and resolutions). The tech also got it running on my iPad, but was painfully slow. The next day I went across country and wouldn't you know it, I had zero cameras showing. I could connect to the DVR and see all the settings and change them, but nothing worked. I submitted several tickets and it is like the service techs only look at the ticket in front of them and don't look at the entire history of the device. That may not be true, but that it what it seems like. Many days later, I asked (via online ticket) to have my issues escalated to a Manager. Told that is impossible, I have call in for that. I did badger them enough that someone changed the settings and finally I can see my cameras. Not all the time, not all the cameras and only on a home computer (a Mac). And, so far not at all on my iPad Air either on WiFi or cellular. I am going to see how things go over the next few weeks. Hopefully all the settings or bugs will get worked out. So far I am only going to give this a two star rating. That is subject to change

I was using a pc based DVR and was looking for a decent product. After searching several product and pricing, I decided to go with this. It is working great so far. Initially I was having technical difficulty with PTZ set up, then I called lorex tech support and was able to get it resolved. Seems like it will work great. No need to upgrade operating system as with PC based DVR.

This is my first experience with Lorex DVR. I installed this for a customer after some very detailed research. I love that this DVR can handle the 8 cameras that I purchased and leaves plenty of room for expansion. 3tb harddrive will give plenty of recording space. Setup was simple. The manuals get you through the basics. The interface is very basic and pretty easy to walk through. I tried to setup the DDNS, but still am having trouble getting in. I will have to wait until I go back to the customers business to mess with this some more. The interface on the DVR makes you continually enter your username and password which is a pain since you have to do it from the mouse provided. Another complaint I have is the Iphone and Ipad apps are terrible. They took at least an hour to setup. I ended up having to delete the apps from my devices and it finally loged in. (I am positive I had all of the settings correct, it's just very unstable. One you have it setup on your phone it's good. The response time it's great either. My final comment is that the customer service takes FOREVER. I think I was on hold for at least am hour. I also setup the software on a Mac and Windows computer. That software works very well. I have another customer that wants a system setup. I think I'll try this again. If I have the same issues I may have to look for other systems for future customers. Overall I am satisfied with the setup, it's just not as easy as it could be. Hopefully Lorex takes the time to upgrade the Firmware on the DVR and apps for the apple devices.
