Not only does this collapse into a tiny and easily packed bag, fully assembled it is strong enough to hold shape while supported with one hand. Lighter and stiffer than the Lastolite tri-grips and much easier to manipulate with one hand or have mounted on various stands. A trigrip requires much more force to hold in place on a stand, the halo is lighter and easily can be positioned and locked down. Compared to traditional pop out reflectors, this takes time and patience to assemble. But the trade off is that it is an easier reflector to transport to and from the site and it is an easier reflector to position once assembled.

Whew. After many of the pop-out reflectors with zippered covers having their zippers come off, I finally upgraded to this and I'm glad I did. Downsides is that it is NOT quick to set up, but the benefits are that it appears to be nearly indestructible, and it's packed size is far smaller than a pop-out reflector. It's also easier to hold and the mount thread in the handle is incredibly useful - it was always very annoying trying to put a pop-out reflector on a stand, but this one is a breeze.

Lightweight, easy to use and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Salvage a harsh sunlight situation to make a much softer more diffuse light in a matter of minutes.

As with lastolite products. They all seem to be made to last with heavy use.

Excellent reflector. Easy to assemble and occupy very little space on the bag.

When I first put this together I thought there was no way I was keeping it. It’s pretty stiff the first few times you assemble it. I put it together and left it a few days to let everything stretch out, that helped. I’ve been using it a lot lately and I like it. Usually, I work without an assistant so I use a nano stand with a Kupo ball head to maneuver it around. It’s not as fast to open or close as a normal reflector but easier to transport and use when you don’t have an assistant.

"When I’m traveling from shoot to shoot, it's easy to bring this portable reflector with me. It's lightweight, packable, and functional, and gives me creative control over the light on my subject. This reflector has been key to some of my most interesting and dramatic shots."
The HaloCompact is a completely new, patent pending design concept that makes the everyday reflector panel even more portable than ever!
Unlike many traditional reflector panels that incorporate a steel rim pop up design, the 82cm (32") HaloCompact is constructed using Manfrotto By Manfrotto's new innovative RapidExoframe technology. The collapsible lightweight aluminium frame quickly slots together and the reflector fabric cover simply clips onto the frame. The cleverly designed RapidExoframe construction allows the frame to breakdown into small multiple sections and along with the folded fabric packs into a carry case.
The ultra-compact folded dimensions make the HaloCompact the perfect solution for Photographers on the move or with very limited carrying space. It now means a reflector can always be carried in the camera bag rather than having to consider whether to take an extra bag or not. A handy carabinerstyle clip also allows the user to clip the HaloCompact to their belt if out on location with their camera only and no camera bag.
The HaloCompact also features an ergonomically designed handle so it can easily be held and accurately positioned with one hand. The handle also incorporates a very useful 1/4" thread (plus a 1/4" to 1/4" adaptor), enabling it to be easily attached to various different support systems, to offer secure positioning further away from camera position.
The cover is also available separately.
