Great compact lens

There was quite a fanfare when Nikon released this lens and rightly so; it's a beauty! The web-page is still up for your reference. 
I have always preferred to shoot with primes when possible and this lens is right for so many occasions, but why did Nikon stop here? The lens is fast, sharp, light and, despite the all-plastic construction, feels sturdy and robust, and includes a lens hood, so why have we half-frame (DX) shooters not been graced with, for example, 35mm and 60mm f/1.7 DX companions for this fine fellow? A good range of DX primes would please so many of us who cannot or do not want to carry around 20 or 30 pounds of glass in a huge ruck-sack but value the superior results of shooting prime. Young shooters and old shooters alike would also appreciate the very much more affordable nature of DX lenses.
