Perfect picture quality

I've had this projector for about a month now. And I've used it a few times ,just to play around with it, until my dedicated theater room is ready. But I bought an outdoor/indoor 150" screen and I had no problems setting it up outside for an outdoor family movie night. It was awesome. The built in speakers were plenty loud. I only had to turn the volume up to 80. The picture was perfect and that's having used the key stone because my screen wasn't perfectly square with the projector. I've heard that using the keystone looses picture quality, but I didn't see any loss of quality. It was awesome. One of the best purchases I've ever made. (Sorry I didn't take a picture when we watched the movie, I was too excited to think about that at the time.

Best bang for your $$$

The Image is bright and vibrant you'll want to play with the colors until it's to your liking but the plenty image setting similar to more premium models. I mounted my the unit where the former owner of the house had holes in the ceiling which at first was a mistake because the 120" screen was way too small for the image it projected at that distance. Since the walls are flat (not glossy and the room has nearly no ambient light I didn't move the projector closer to fit on the screen. I haven't had time to paint the ceiling and walls yet but that's next then to decide fixed screen or paint. Optimal viewing is 120 in but I've been living with 170 in screen for about 6 months. Not one person has complained more shocked that it looks so good without a screen. Home Theater buffs will nit pic at the lower lumens on LED projectors but who watches a projector with a lot of ambient light? If you do you likely have a light absorbent screen so it doesn't matter. The good: Bright Vibrant image with good detail and clarity even when projected over the recommended image size. Bests nearly anything in that price tier and close to it. Puts a smile on my face every time I watch an epic movie. With a screen the image is still good with some ambient light. The bad: Autofocus doesn't work when the unit is more than 8-9 ft form the wall. The remote sucks and seems to be line of sight dependent not Bluetooth (Optoma app to the rescue). Native apps suck and steam in 1080p, 4K Firestick and Xbox one s to the rescue! I love to watch movies on a big bright screen with my audio loud and clear. I have a 75" Samsung 8000 series UHD TV that was my main movie display until about 6 months ago. I moved into a home with a large dedicate theater room. I toyed with getting a mid level lamp projector between $2500-$4500 but I didn't want to replace the bulbs. I knew I wanted to connect an Xbox One S which meant my teenager would be playing a lot and I was right. I'd be on my second bulb already! So I researched a few LED projectors the first $5k for Sony $2500 for LG beam (My first Choice) then I ran into a review of the Optoma UHL55 it struck a cord because I have a Optoma GT200 in my bedroom for occasional late night binge watching. It's only good in a near pitch dark room but I've had it for 6+ years and it still works great even after traveling a number of times. This is my seriously budget friendly setup. All in: $1600 Optoma UHL55 $1499 Sale $999.99 Samsung HW-MS650 $399 Openbox(sale) $130 Samsung SWA-W700 $499 Sale $299 Samsung SWA-9000 $179 Sale $129 Just purchased a Denon Atmos system and klipsch reference speakers. I now have time to paint the room and decide fixed screen or paint. I know the image is going to look even better and the immersion will be excellent. No regrets purchasing the UHL55.

Great picture, deal breaking issue. PLEASE READ

I'll keep this short and start with the good. It's quiet, the picture is fantastic, and you'll have a hard time finding another project at this price with native 4k resolution. Now for the bad. Wifi does not work out of the box. You will need to connect a cable in order to download the latest firmware updates that address the wifi connectivity issue. This is not a deal breaker as it's easily fixed. DO NOT BUY this projector if it will sit more than 2 meters from the screen. The projector will attempt to autofocus upon startup every time. If the projector sits farther than 2m from the screen, it is beyond the effective range of autofocus and will knock your picture out of focus. You will need to memorize the path on the guides to manually focus the projector on startup every single time. The guide confirms that the effective range of the autofocus "feature" is 2 meters. The firmware should 100% allow you to disable autofocus, unfortunately you cannot. I have confirmed with Optoma technical support that there is no solution at this time. I have been on the phone with them on three separate occasions since purchasing to discuss possible solutions, and my last call ended with them confirming my problem, and it will proceed to Research and Development to hopefully fix. If I get a fix, this is a 5 star projector. Until then, this is a critical oversight.

Optoma UHL55 no 3D with MKV files

Optoma UHL55 no 3D with MKV files. No 3D with MKV files on Xbox One S, PC Windows 10, Xbox One X, Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and Plex Server. This absolutely not acceptable. All my 3D film projects not usable anymore. Fix this.
