They aren't the Patrrson trays I remember from the 70's and 80's, those were thick, heavy trays. These new trays have the same profile but the plastic is thin and brittle compared to the old Patterson trays. Those old trays could take many years of use and abuse. I don't think these new trays will last nearly as long, though they will probably outlive me. Much like the difference in digital prints and silver prints. Digital prints will last decades if well cared for. Silver prints will last centuries and survive much abuse. All that being said If I hadn't had the old trays as a comparison I would have been impressed with the new trays.

What sets the 16x20" Print Developing Tray Set apart is its meticulous construction from robust polypropylene, ensuring that each tray is not only resistant to the harsh chemicals typically used in photo development but also remarkably durable for sustained use. This makes the tray set an excellent choice for educational settings and professional labs alike, where reliability and longevity are paramount.
Crafted with functionality in mind, the trays feature a distinctive base ribbing that provides essential rigidity, reducing the likelihood of warping under the weight of large prints. This design detail also serves a dual purpose by preventing photographs from adhering to the bottom of the tray, thus facilitating smoother handling and processing of your prints.
The patented design of these trays includes a thoughtful addition-a dedicated space that securely holds your thermometer in place, preventing it from slipping into the developing solution. This attention to detail underscores the trays' functional and stylish design, ensuring a hassle-free development process.
Each tray in this set of three boasts an extra-large pouring lip, a feature that not only contributes to the trays' sleek appearance but also serves a practical function. The generous lip size allows for drip-free emptying, minimizing the risk of chemical spills and splashes that can be both hazardous and messy.
Furthermore, the base design of the trays is optimized for both solution conservation and effortless print retrieval. The contours of the tray are engineered to use the minimum amount of solution necessary for effective development, making it an economical choice for photographers who value both efficiency and quality.
In summary, the 16x20" Print Developing Tray Set from Paterson Photographic, available at Adorama, is a high-quality, reliable, and stylish solution for photographers who require durable and functional equipment for their print development needs.
