Peak Design 25L Outdoor Backpack Black

I've tested a lot of different carrying solutions, but this one meets my needs best. I have 2xLumix S5II and four lenses + accessories. Still some room for water bottle, extra clothes etc. Carrying is easy for a day haik with the straps provided (I'm 190 cm). My only remark is the hip belt which could be better designed (snaplock instead of the "toy lock", easier way of tightening the belt, a bit wider and stiffer padding).

I got this to consolidate multiple bags of filming gear for two Cannon cameras. I have a medium and small packing cubes inside. I have multiple custom cases in the roll-top as well, and a large and normal size Peak tripod on each side. It has made transporting gear much easier!

I have had this for about 5 weeks now. I love the look of it and storage space. It is a little bit difficult to use all the features but overall it is the most comfortable day to day commuter pack I have ever had.

I have the 25l version and use it primarily for day hikes. There is a lot to like. - It's very comfortable to wear - The side pockets are very deep and work great for 1.5l water bottles - The open/close mechanism of the "flap" is very easy to use (once you figure it out) - The flap is a great place to stow jackets etc. that you need easy access to - The (phone) pocket on the front of the shoulder strap is great - Attachment points for straps The one strange miss is the routing for the water bladder. I have tried several bladders, and all of them are designed to route the hose upwards. The bag is designed to route the hose downwards, which doesn't work with any of the bladders I have. This setup seems really unnecessary complicated, and I end up just not using the hose routing. It still works fine with a bladder, but it's still a strange miss in the design.

The versatility of the 45L is amazing! There are so many ways to utilize the pockets and spaces. I'm still trying different ways to store all my camera gear and accessories, tripod, water bottle, etc. The frame and the way the hip belt fits makes the pack very stable and unlike other packs I've used. The dual sternum straps are a great idea, however I'm still fiddling around to get the hook attached into the correct loop. Hopefully that will get easier with use. A big factor for me was the materials used and the pack being PFAS free!.

I bought Outdoor Backpack 25L a couple of weeks ago for my trip to Newfoundland. I ordered it last minute and wasn't sure it would arrive in time. And it did! Delivery was very fast! Since I planned a lot of hiking with my Nikon Z8 with 200-500 lens attached and the other Nikon Z50 for landscape shots on a clip, my biggest concern was weight and to have least exposure. This backpack resolved it perfectly. I did not buy any cubes because none of them fit my requirements. (It would be good if Peak Design team could design one). I used dividers from my other messenger bag that fit in it (not perfectly but well enough), and I had easy access to my Z8 with 200-500 attached from top at any time. And I still had lots of room for rain gear, water bottle, travel tripod and other accessories. I did not feel much weight on my back which surprised me quite a bit. And after 9 days of hiking I did not have any fatigue in my shoulders or back. It is very slim backpack and with all that load still can go on an airplane as a personal item. I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

I like how this bag distributes weight. The straps are better on this one than on the 45L travel backpack making it more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. It's also surprisingly different than the 25L outdoor backpack - besides being larger, it has more little pockets and places to store things.

The outdoor backpack suited my needs perfectly on my recent camping trip. Its rugged and sleak. I added the hydration pack and it took the bag to the next level when hiking. Love it!

I bought the 45L for EDC. While it is heavier than my case logic backpack, the hip straps feel great and take most of the load, quick access pouch is easy to access, and I put my quick access items in the pouches so I usually open the main compartment once or twice a day.

An excellent bag that feels great through and through. Works great with my camera cube, so it comfortably holds both a Pentax 67, Ricoh XR2s, and other cameras gear. The detachable hip belt is also a great feature for if I ever have to put it through airport security as a checked bag. And, unrelated to the bag, customer support was excellent even before I got the bag when FedEx delivered it to the wrong building.

So far I am pretty happy with this bag. I've taken it on one trip and several hikes. As others have noted, the water bladder compartment lacks a solid way to hold the bladder in place, but I'm finding some work arounds. I find the rest of the compartments to be well designed and versatile. The exterior TPU coating is a little delicate, I already have circle mark on the exterior for putting my watch in there on a brief outing. So the quick wear on that exterior coating and the bladder are the main reason to ding a star. I got it at a decent deal - the peak design "don't tell Dave" sale and my Amex offer - so overall I am pretty happy. For me it will be a travel backpack that I can turn into a hiking pack when I get there. We'll see how it holds up on an upcoming Norway trip.

Just took the Peak Design Outdoor Backpack 45L on my Dolomites hiking trip, and it exceeded every expectation. Everything about the design just makes sense. Every compartment is easy to access without unpacking the entire bag, which made switching between hiking and photography effortless. My camera, tripod, layers, snacks, and other essentials were always exactly where I expected them to be. It's comfortable to carry all day, well-balanced, and thoughtfully designed for people who actually spend time outdoors. Easily one of the best gear purchases I've made. Highly recommended.

I've owned a lot of camera bags over the years, and the Peak Design 45L Travel Backpack is easily one of the best I've used. The build quality is exceptional. Every zip, buckle and handle feels solid, and it's clear this bag has been designed to withstand years of heavy use. Despite its generous capacity, it remains comfortable to carry thanks to the well-padded shoulder straps and excellent weight distribution. As a photographer, the flexibility is what really stands out. The expandable design gives me plenty of room for camera bodies, lenses, accessories and even clothing when I'm travelling. Everything has its place, and the layout makes it quick and easy to access my gear without having to unpack the whole bag. The attention to detail is outstanding. Hidden pockets, weather-resistant materials, multiple access points and thoughtful organisation all make a real difference when you're working on location. It also looks smart enough to take anywhere, whether that's a corporate event, an airport or a wedding. What impresses me most is how versatile it is. It's equally at home as a carry-on travel bag, a camera backpack or an everyday work bag. It has replaced several other bags I used to own. I have been using the Peak Design Outdoor Backpack 25L for a good month now, and it is an absolutely superb bag. However, I want to emphasize that to get the most out of it, it is best used in combination with the Peak Design Camera Cube (Smedium). With that insert, the organization and protection are flawless. I've recently taken this bag on several 20km hikes, and it carried the load exceptionally well. For these trips, I comfortably packed a significant amount of heavy gear: Camera Gear: Canon 5D Mark IV, 24-70mm lens, 70-200mm lens, and a DJI Mini 3 Pro with spare batteries. Hiking Essentials: Plenty of food and water, a spare t-shirt, and a first aid kit. Exterior: Trekking poles attached easily to the outside of the pack. Even fully loaded for a long day on the trails, the backpack remained very comfortable to carry. If you are a photographer looking for a reliable, spacious, and durable daypack for demanding hikes, I highly recommend this setup!

First and foremost, it's a tech bag that has some rugged / outdoorsy exterior features, not an outdoor bag that fits tech (which is what marketing is claiming). It's my go-to pack for going to the park or transporting my tech gear when camping, but the idea that this could withstand rock climbing, backpacking or serious outdoor use doesn't resonate. I'm happy I didn't purchase the 45 liter for an upcoming long distance hut-to-hut hike. Outside material got marked up just in the very first car ride, and I have concerns about the longevity of the drawstring closure / opening system, so I purposely try to avoid opening it unnecessarily to reduce wear. To add insult, I recently bought a small v2 camera cube specifically to fit into PD travel backpacks, as my current v1 doesn't fit. I saw the claims this bag fits PD cubes and was excited to have a piece that worked seamlessly - turns out it fits ONLY a smedium and an extra small, and does NOT fit a small. Marketing cleverly obscured that. Totally against the ethos of what I thought PD was trying to do - I feel deceived by their advertising. Longtime PD buyer with lots of happy products. I'm sure this will do fine for some use cases, but don't buy the marketing that it's a do-everything bag. Price point is not justified.

?I took the 45L Cloud out for my very first hike and just wanted to share how much I liked it. ?The volume was perfect for all my gear, and I was really impressed by how comfortable it felt the whole time-no soreness at all, which I was a bit worried about as a beginner. The Cloud color looks really nice and clean in person, too. Just a really solid, well-made pack that did exactly what I needed it to do. I prefer black for more corporate looking i just hope the cloud holds its color over time.

Great bag for the price. Incredible build quality and super nice materials. Metal frame maintains the bag's shape regardless of contents, but this does add some base weight to your carry. Works well for outdoor activities as well as city use. Relatively annoying access to the laptop slot is my only criticism, but as this is designed for a hydration reservoir first and foremost, I won't knock off any stars.

I was hesitant to buy at first because most peak design bags are rated higher but then I read the reviews and it sounded like some people were confused how to open some of the pockets. I pulled the trigger and got the bag determined I could figure out the perplexing pockets only to find that it was actually quite simple to use. Great bag, great construction, it holds all my gear comfortably including my 600mm lens. The frame and hip belt make carrying a heavy load quite comfortable.

I can't simply describe how practical this backpack is (I got the 25L model). But what I can do, and that's something no reviewer will explain to the extent they should, is how well this backpack balances; fully loaded with heavy stuff and without using the chest strap, the backpack is still keeping the weight close to your thorax and balances it in a way that doesn't kill your shoulders on a 15-20km hike. I've never seen any other backpack that balances this well without a sternum strap, while still being so stylish. Some of the very technical hiking equipment can do that, sure, but not in this stylish and versatile design. Couldn't be more satisfied.

Excellent functionality from the double outside side pockets to the shoulder straps to the extra straps provided for extra stuff I may need to latch on. It's the best outdoor backpack I've used where I was able to carry all my gear in one bag for an overnight camping.

The bag is nicely constructed and has some innovative features that I like. The materials are interesting in a good way. However, the harness system is laughably small even in its largest configuration. I'm not a small dude and am somewhat barrel-chested, but this hit the waistbelt above my navel even with the shoulder straps extended completely and the harness fully adjusted to either extreme. I looked like I was wearing a child's pack. I had to return it.

This is a sturdy backpack that is flexible. Everything feels high quality and it feels like I can take this on hikes or camping without worrying that it will tear. The only thing I will comment on is the water bottle holders feel a little too shallow for big water bottles so that I can easily slip out when bending over.
