Peak Design Travel Duffel 35L Eclipse Bag

I've used this bag for 6 years for 2-14 night trips. On trips up to about 4 nights I'll put in one large packing cube, one medium, and toilet kit. On longer trips I put in one additional large packing cube. I have enough room left over for ipad and a few books. The light weight is helpful when this is your sole piece of luggage and you want to meet the most restrictive 8kg/17.5lb carry-on limit for some international flights. I removed one handle and reattached the other to the loops on one of the short ends of the duffel so when I put it over my shoulder it stays high and tight to my side, so it looks more streamlined and doesn't bounce against my side, making it easier to walk fast. I've used it for weekend trips, trips to Amans, and bike trips where I removed the packing cubes and put them in the panniers then folded the duffel and put it in the panniers also. I appreciate the lack of hardware/straps on the outside which would not add utility for me and would destroy the clean look. I agree with criticisms the magnets should be a few orders of magnitude stronger (both the magnets that hold the handles together (irrelevant to me since I use only one handle), and the magnets that hold the end flaps of the zipper against the end of the bag, keeping a neat look (I solved that by placing supermagnets inside the bag at the end flaps)).

This is an initial impression, and I absolutely love this bag! I bought it to replace an old, similarly-sized gym bag, and what an upgrade it is! The semi-rigid opening doesn't pop into place (which I thought it might) but does offer easier access with the same effort. The light interior is so helpful, too. However, I landed on this bag because of the strap configurations; they are excellent! As a backpack, it's extremely comfortable on either one or both shoulders, and I appreciate the hand-carry closure is minimalistic instead of bulky or puffy - it doesn't need it. I have yet to see any benefit from having the (pretty weak) magnets on the ends, to keep the folded-over uppers in place. That said, they might do more once it's broken in; time will tell. Not exactly a key feature.

I bought this a few weeks ago and finally took it on a road trip and have nothing but praise for it. The quality is unmatched and I love the design as much as any other PD product. As others have said, the handles could be improved, but then again, this is a large duffel - I'm not carrying it with the handles for long periods of time so not a deal breaker for me. All in all, would 100% recommend this 50L version (especially over the 35L. This fits more but can squish to a similar size).

Best dedicated duffle bag I've ever purchased. Exterior is simple, zippers are absolutely solid, interior is organized and not trying to do too much. Love the removable straps, too many duffles try to be a backpack and duffel at the same time and end up being mediocre at both. Only complaint is I wish the exterior pockets were slightly larger. If you're eyeing this just go ahead and buy it.

The bag is full of thoughtful features. I like how it open up on the main zipper so you can see your entire bag. I am also surprised how much can fit into the 35L bag when paired with PD packing cubes. It is more than enough for a long weekend and could probably get your through an entire week if you organized it right. Everything about the bag feels top quality.

I bought this even though I already have the full range of Peak Design backpacks and backpack/duffle either side of of this 35L one. I was partly motivated by a great money back deal on Amex - you might check for that if you have an Amex. I am happy to report that instead of my fear, of feeling guilty for over purchasing, I am delighted with it. It really does serve a distinct purpose. It is perfect as my gym bag, and I really like the shoulder strap which can be a bit much for a larger bag but I find comfortable for one this size. Also love the way you can move around the straps easily, yet they are securely enough attached they won't fall off by accident. It is another great peak design product.

I bought the 50l duffel in Eclipse to pair with the everyday tote in the same colour. The tote I use every day, while this is just for travel, and it does a superb job. The size is perfect for a large carry-on item on European airlines. Build quality is good, style is great. Best features: Sturdy, stylish, great size. Lots of useful pockets. Thoughtfully and practically designed. I really like how the straps can be easily unclipped and reconfigured depending how you're carrying it. Negatives: Very few. My only real complaint is that the shoulder strap pad is very slippy and regularly slips off my shoulder, it could do with being rubberised or otherwise grippier to prevent this. This is despite the fact that I have broad, level shoulders; someone with narrower or more sloped shoulders than me would likely struggle even more than I did. Also, the fittings on the shoulder strap that came with this bag are not as sturdy as on the everyday tote, even though it initially looked like the exact same strap - on the tote the buckles are metallic, matching colour and thick, but here they're black plastic and weaker looking, which is odd given that this is a larger bag that will need to hold almost triple the weight.

I love Peak. I have many other of their travel items which I LOVE. But the 35L duffel is a struggle. It's a fantastic duffle bag (if you don't use the cross body strap) but it makes terrible "luggage" in the "roll it on your spinner through the airport and through a train station" kind of way. I have the Coyote fabric, which I also have in their wash and tech pouches, and it's amazing. I have seen the 35L in other fabrics, but they have a thick, rubberized panel on both sides vs. the coyote that doesn't. I prefer the coyote for this reason. You might get one that says it has magnetized handles in the hang tag; none of them have these anymore but the tag persists. The handles are now a snap closure. Everyone in the reviews hates the magnets, so, fine. As luggage, it has two major flaws: PD says you can use it over the top of a rolling suitcase handle, but you're literally just draping the carry straps over the handle. There is no dedicated slip-through panel. This results in a fully off-vertical arrangement, and since it's a duffle i.e. it's squat and wide not tall and narrow, its bottom slips off the top of the spinner and the entire thing falls over. And the cross body strap's padded area is sewn on, so in order to move it to be on your shoulder, you have to make one side of the strap longer and one side shorter. But the design of that system leaves excess fabric on one side and takes a long time to get just right. I assume PD folks read these, since they replaced the magnets everyone hated. Add a real way to put this on a spinner, and make the cross body strap cushion moveable. If you just need a great duffel bag and don't plan to use it with the cross body strap or over a spinner handle, this is your golden ticket. The 50L is *huge* and only for a specific type of travel/traveler.

The size (50L, for Gym) was just right for me, and the material was as excellent as I'd expected. I did my research thoroughly on the official website and YouTube before buying, and I'm glad I got exactly what I was looking for. It's very reassuring that PeakDesign offers a lifetime warranty. I don't even know how much I've spent on PeakDesign products over the years, but even items that have broken after years of heavy use are covered by the warranty, so they'll replace them with the latest model right away. That makes me so happy that I end up buying another new product. In the end, PeakDesign makes a profit, lol. Please continue to create many great products while respecting your customers' needs!

I have two travel duffel bags, this is easily my favorite. The design is perfect for shorter trips, whether carry on or tossing it in the tack room of the horse trailer. I love x-pac, and this coyote x-pac looks great and doesn't show trailer and truck bed dust/dirt like a black color bag. With the regular (larger) size wash kit and tech pouch in the same coyote x-pac color it's the perfect kit for shorter duration trips.

I have two big issues with the duffel. One the handles are odd and I don't find them comfortable. The other issue is the conversion of the handle to the backpack strap. The tension to remove the hook from the loop feels the a huge point of failure. This also true moving the strap from traditional to cross body. It's innovations is its flaw.

Pricy, but solid quality like you'd expect from PD. Debates between the 50L and 65L, and opted for the 65L to optionally use it for longer trips as well. Glad I did the 65L. Watch the demos of all the bags. They are spot on and super helpful.

First up - they fixed the handles. They now have snaps and feel very comfortable in the hand. Everything about this bag oozes excellence and quality. I couldn't find any manufacturing flaws at all. Whatever process they use to build these things, they have definitely mastered it. I love everything about this bag and it is a real pleasure to take a trip with this in hand. Also, I can't recommend the packing cubes enough - they really complement the bag and result in a great packing experience. Congratulations to Peak Design for crafting this gem.

I bought this a weak ago and I only did so they promoted magnetic handels, I was very disappointed they didn't have this option in the colour chose. I bought the purple/red looking one but no magnets and no leather feel for the handels

I used this bag for a Central Asia trip of two weeks. Held all my stuff great. I have never really traveled with a duffle before this bag. I thought the bottom grips my hand naturally went to when slinging over one arm was brilliant design. Zippers were great. Storage was great. If there was one thing that I would suggest is stronger magnets on the 35L handles so they stayed together easier. Airplane overhead space was easy. I anticipate this bag to last many years on many trips.

I made my first purchase from peak design back in 2019, that sling bag is still being used to this day and is in perfect condition. I then recently purchased this travel duffel 35L and I have no doubt it will last me for years and years.

This bag (50L Sage Duffel) serves my purposes for travel. However beware that there is internal structure that cannot be removed from the length of the bag and so it will not compress beyond 15in.~ at length. I worry that this hardware may eventually break or wear through the fabric with no easy access to remove it. Overall good materials with room to improve the design in minor ways, a four star product with 3 star storefront info.

If you are on the fence about this please give it a try. Was waiting to finish a trip to Argentina. Was concerned about space and carry on dimensions since was travelling 1 bag carry-on for 20 days and was in a budget airline. Needless to say it performed admirably, so many carry options and fits perfectly on overhead bins. No troubles at all, incredible zippers. Thank you PD!

If you're looking for the perfect weekender bag, look no further. I picked up the 35-litre version in sage, which I must say looks stunning. The design is extremely thoughtful and works seamlessly with the Peak Design packing tools. Overall, it allows you to pack everything you need into a smaller volume than I was used to before, resulting in less bulk and genuinely hassle-free travel-without sacrificing easy and convenient access. The bag feels hard-wearing and is impressively weather-resistant. Last but not least: while this is by no means a cheap investment, it strikes an excellent balance between classy and stealthy. The color of the bag is much shinier than it appears in the photos. Some of the detailing is not as good as before-for example, the lengths of certain components are inconsistent. It arrived already wrinkled before I even used it. There are also bumps around the zipper area, which makes it look cheap and poorly made. Also, why do the recent marketing emails look so cheap? I give it three star because I got it during thanks giving sale, not worth it for the original price.

I'm so sad and disheartened. Bought this and had it delivered Dec 9th and its main purpose is camera bag for my small collection. I put all my stuff in it and was ready to travel with it when all of a sudden I try putting it on my back and next thing I know the entire strap breaks clean off..... 300 DOLLARS with the travel set i bought and I get a flimsy strap? not even able to carry like, 15LBS? I used the peaked camera cube V2 filled fully with my gear, a laptop, a movmax controller, and a little filled smedium packing cube. and not TWO seconds of me going to readjust this bag to get it on my back in a more comfy position... and it snaps. 300 DOLLARS.... devastated especially as someone who loves fashion and film i wanted this because its extremely sleek and clean looking. Enough bad. lets talk good this bag and also camera cube V2 has little notches and hitches on the sides that allow me to buy third party straps to be able to fix my situation, before you ask "why not buy a replacement part?" why would I when their product has already failed me immediately? unless it was a sturdier and better built strap, id be wasting my money and their time even if it was sent for free... regardless this bag has insane quality and FEELS GREAT. looks amazing and all. The Camera Cube V2 is FIRE for this. fits very well in the duffle and holds SO MUCH STUFF. only mini downside is the duffle and accessing the cube while inside it would be a little annoying considering the perfectly fits the duffle and you'd have to catch a lil side hook or whatever its called, to actually pull it out. again LITTLE things. To end off if this bag hadn't broke on me and id had used it when traveling the way I wanted " a duffle on my shoulder or back" this would EASILY be a 5 star camera man purchase but sadly the main DUFFLE strap broke like a plastic wrap...

Disappointed with the colour (XPAC Coyote). I've items in this material from another brand, where I liked the colour so much, I searched the material online and found this brand. However, it is more of a shiney gold/brown. The support is AI and automation based. When I did get a response from a human, they proposed a resolution; however when I followed up with another question, I'm back in the AI support loop! The returns process is not easy or cheap from the UK. High postage back to the US and tariffs, and I have no confidence I will get a refund promised.
