Questions & Answers

BARBARA B : Will these work with a Sony AR72 and Alien Bees?FRANK C : Hello Barbara,, I was a sports photographer for the University of Arizona from 2011 thru 2013. We used dozens of these Pocket Wizards, and that is no exaggeration. They worked flawlessly with Alien Bees, most all Paul Buff lights, Nikon and Canon cameras, and most Nikon and Canon speed lights.. I do not know if they will work with Sony AR72 or not. I love these Wizards. Good Luck FrankLEE M : It should work with any camera that has a hot shoe and/or a flash synch connection. I have used them for years with Nikons and Alien Bees. They are very reliable. Not fancy but get the job done.DOUGLAS D : I am not sure about working with Sony, because I use Nikon equipment, but the Plus X does work with Alien Bees.ROB P : I use mine with Bees and Canon as well as an off brand strobe. If you've got a hot shoe and a jack on the lights - you're in business. Also works with plethora of cheap speedlites.DON P : So long as the the Sony has a hot shoe it should work, and the 'Bee's have a mini jack plug yes it to should work.
Shopper : Will this work on my speedlight 430 EX2 and my canon Mark 3?ALBERT K : It most definitely will! However, you will need two of them. One on top of your camera to transmit, and one connected to your flash, as a receiver, by the appropriate cord. Then you're in business!!! I use them to trigger my studio power packs, and my on -camera flashes when used off camera. Buy them! you''ll love them! Be aware that you may also need a flash meter, but ADORAMA has you covered!!LUIS M : I believe that speedlight does not have a sync port, if that's the case you need to buy a hot shoe adapter to connect the flash to the pocketwizard.ZHIGANG Q : PocketWizard is independent to cameras brands. You need to have at least 2 of these, one slides in your Mark 3's hot shoe, the other(s) connect to your speedlight 430 EX2 via a "Seagull SC-2 Flash Hot Shoe Adapter with PC Sync Socket". Since your Speedlight does not have a connector port to connect the PocketWizard. Your Speedlight has to slide in the adapter then the cable comes with PocketWizard connects the adapter and the PocketWizard. Good luck.James B : Like will it trigger your 430 ex2 off camera? No. You'd need two of these. One on your camera and one hooked to the flash. You need a really small cord too that doesn't come with the trigger.FRANK C : Sorry, I don't know if it will or not.PAMELA M : Yes but u need one for camera and one for flash. Plus need a hot shoe and pigtail for connecting to the flash.
JOSE O : will this work with my nikon SB-700?JAMES L : I see no reason why the Plus X would not work with the SB-700. It works with my SB-28 which is a lot older.FRANK F : Yes it will Joe B.DWIGHT H : What you should do is go to the pocket wizard website. They have a cable finder, so you can search for your make and model of camera or flash. That's how I found the correct cable for my canon.RANDY H : Yes, this will work with almost any flash. It does not support ttl, only manualPHILIP G : This works on all DSLR cameras and most flashes. It does not discriminate between brands therefore allowing cross communication between devises so that you can get back to taking photos! ; )BRYAN H : This Pocket Wizard should work with all flashes. Just plug and play.DAX W : Yes, you will need a hot shoe adapter that adds a pc or 3.5 mm socket to your flash. With this adapter it works great. MIKE T : Yep. Just used two of these to trigger two SB800s.DONALD C : I'm a Canon shooter so would not have any at hand info that would help. Would suggest you check with the Pocket Wizard people. MATT A : TTL mode & manual mode should both be fully functional with the SB 700JONATHAN R : If your SB-700 has a female PC Sync then yes it will work.

Compatible with all my gear. Always works.

Very versatile and has always worked. I have used this to fire speedlites and to trigger Novatron powerpacks. Nothing I have used before has been as simple and as predictable. Accessory cables allow this to work with everything. I even use a PC cable from Wista 4x5 viewcamera to this radio transceiver. This is backward compatible to my older Pocketwizard units I had bought used.

I have used these PocketWizards for many years and have never had a failure. The only exception is my fault, forgetting to install fully charged batteries. Otherwise, they work great.

Wizard Plus

Great and easily usable. The only thing is that it does not come with any sort of reasonable strap to wrap around any part of the light. I had to buy my own velcro because the strap that comes with it is too short?

Two Triggers - One adapter - Less Durable

Package comes with two mini-jack to PC only and one adapter for 1/4", which is useless if you plan to use them on some older model lights you're working with, like I do. NOW...I have to purchase two direct cables, 1/8" to 1/4" for $ so I can use them. (These use to come with the Pocket Wizards) I have owned the Plus II models of pocket wizards for years now and they have never, never let me down. They were built to withstand a lot of bumping around; overall, the Plus II's were a durable little piece of equipment. I purchased this new, PlusX two-pack for a special assignment I have coming up in a month when I'll be rigging extra lights....and I have to say, these two definitely do not have the same durable feel to them as my old ones. These are made of very light weight, thin, cheap plastic. All in all, they feel like they're not going to give me even half the life of my Plus II models. I'm afraid that if I drop one on a hard floor.....that's it! ADDITIONALLY, the booklet that comes with the Plus X two-pack indicates what comes in the box; saying it includes two 1/8" to PC cables, one 1/4" adapter and a mini-to mini cable....which it did not have, which is fine in my case because it wouldn't have helped me with my current connection requirements anyway. Overall, I'm a little disappointed. Funny thing is, I paid a lot more for these than my Plus II models. I could understand the price getting higher if the product was being built better but it's just the opposite. Sign of the times.

Dependable and Efficient

Needed an extra radio for an event. Did not need the provision for grouping lights (ABCD), so this fit the need. The batteries last way longer in the Plus X, than the Plus III's I have when in Receive mode. Good thing.

Good, Butttttt....

The units work great with all types of Flash Units. The only thing about them I dislike is that they use AAA batteries and if left on overnight the batteries are dead the next day. Very surprised they did not build a "sleep mode" into the device.

Needed an extra radio for an event. Did not need the provision for grouping lights (ABCD), so this fit the need. The batteries last way longer in the Plus X, than the Plus III's I have when in Receive mode. Good thing.

It's time to elevate your photography experience with the Plus X Transceiver #801-129, a high-quality, reliable, and user-friendly device designed to make remote shooting a breeze. This compact and durable transceiver is the simplest entry into the renowned PocketWizard Wireless System, offering seamless compatibility with all Standard Channel-capable PocketWizard transmitters and receivers.

The Plus X Transceiver is equipped with 10 Standard Channels, providing you with the flexibility to work in your own exclusive "zone." This feature is particularly beneficial when working at crowded events or when you need different setups or looks. The channels are easily selected with a simple turn of the backlit channel dial, which remains on all the time for your convenience, thanks to its low power consumption.

Designed with an unobtrusive, internal antenna, this transceiver ensures minimal visual obstruction between you and your subject. The internal antenna design also eliminates the risk of kinking or breaking it when on location. Despite its robust functionality, the Plus X Transceiver is incredibly compact, with a total height of less than 4.2 inches and a weight of just 4 ounces, including batteries.

Connecting the Plus X Transceiver to your camera is effortless. It slides into the hot shoe with no cables required. For your remote devices, it features a reliable miniphone (3.5mm or 1/8") sync port. Each Plus X Transceiver comes complete with a miniphone-to-miniphone cable, a miniphone-to-phono (1/4" or 6.3mm) adapter, and a miniphone to locking PC cable, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of modern flashes and remote speedlights.

The Plus X Transceiver is equipped with patented Auto-Sensing Transceiver Technology, enabling it to intelligently switch between transmitter and receiver modes for optimal simplicity. It also features an Auto-Relay Mode, allowing you to trigger a remote camera in sync with remote flashes using only three PocketWizard radios.

A tri-color LED status indicator provides real-time updates on the transceiver's operation and battery life. The Plus X Transceiver also offers a Transmit Only Mode for situations where you only want your radio to transmit, such as when sharing a set of lights with other photographers.

Despite its affordability, the Plus X Transceiver delivers the range and reliability that PocketWizard radios are known for. Its ultra-fast microprocessors ensure reliable sync speeds of 1/250 for focal plane shutters and 1/500 for leaf shutters.

The Plus X Transceiver is compatible with all PocketWizard transmitters and receivers, including PocketWizard-enabled photo gear from Profoto, Dynalite, Norman, Photogenic, and Sekonic light meters. This compatibility makes it a versatile addition to any photography setup. Like almost all PocketWizard radios, the Plus X Transceiver is proudly made in the USA, ensuring the highest quality.
