Questions & Answers

JOHN Z : Has anybody used this converter with a Lumix 12-35 f2.8 Vario lens? If so, how is it? Thank you.RICHARD C : I brought it for use on a Sony VX2000 video camera. It seemed to work OK on my video camera but it didn't give me enough wide angle so I returned it to get a .5x wide angle lens. I haven't had any problems with this one. I can only assume the Raynox lens should work great on a Lumix 12-35 Vario lens. I suggest buy it and try it. I believe adorama will accept returns if it's not satisfactory.STEVEN R : First, this is not a converter, it is a lens that gets added to the existing lens on your camera. You do not replace the existing lens and cannot add another lens to the front of this, as what I normally think of as a converter. I have not used the Raynox HD-7000 with a Lumix lens, but I can tell you my experience with the Raynox and my Canon Vixia HFS200 video camera. Quality of the lens was very good, glass was clear of defects and it felt high quality, not cheap plastic. The Raynox greatly improved the wide-angle ability of my camera, allowing me to shoot indoor video without cutting people out of the video frame. I was worried that the autofocus system may not work with the Raynox attached, but I have had no problems with my Canon. I have not run into any vignetting problem (where the lens edges interferes with light entering the camera). The lens does make the camera slightly front heavy, and adds about an inch to the overall length of the camera. The Canons built-in lens was not wide angle, and with the Lumix lens you ask about, you may possibly have vignetting issues. I'm sorry I could not answer your exact question, yet I hope this helps.

Not for still photos

Don't be tempted to use this lens for shooting still photos. I'm sure it's fine for video but there is just enough distortion that it shows up clearly in still photos. I needed to correct for curvature using lens correcting software, then cropping back the image. Final result was always still a little fuzzy and not much wider than the lens that I was attaching it to. For video (it's intended use), it'll be just fine.

Good wide angle for the price

well built lens and considering the price a good option over the OEM lens - this is NO OEM lens so expect a slight loss in optical performance but I stress SLIGHT because for most applications you won't notice any difference - it's well built and heavy, plus slightly larger than the OEM's so it can block a video light that sets low on the camera. Get a GOOD Quality protective filter and take time to mount because you can cross thread easily - I use this lens on the Canon HFS-100 and HFG-10 with no issues.

Transforms my Canon G9!!

Didn't want to travel with an SLR, so I purchased this lens with an adaptor for my Canon G9. I'm very happy with the image quality especially when used in conjunction with various filters. Vignetting is an issue at times. However, I do a lot of post production in Photoshop so I don't really mind. Great lens!

Very good product

The idea was to sell my HV20 NTSC and buy a new video DSLR. But the change is very very expensive. So I wait and go on with this Raynox 7000pro. The product for the price is excellent.I leave it always on the camera. For the very close shoot it improve the DOF :) . And sometimes, because the raynox is larger then the position of the autofocus sensor you can have a very nice focusing effect. The lost of quality of the image mounting the Raynox is very very little. Very satisfied. You have to buy a "shelter" for the sun (sorry for my english). raynox cause flickering. Hi

Raynox HD-7000 Pro 0.7x High Definition

this lens isn't a direct replacement for the OEM but at 1/2 the cost it can't be beat for performance and design - a quality built lens - nearly no distortions worth mentioning, LD Glass for great clarity and bright colors, no internal reflections - only con is it's slightly larger than the OEM and blocks most camera mounted video lights as does the OEM.

About Raynox HD-7000

The model HD-7000PRO high definition Wideangle conversion lens is made of the high index optical glass elements with new concept of lens designing using three-group/three-element lens formula.

This new concept in designing the lens made it possible to achieve an amazing high definition wideangle lens of 540 lines/mm resolution power at center (MTF 30%).

It's compatible with whole zoom area and stays in focus. There will be no reduction of light value when this conversion lens is attached on the camera's lens. Adapter rings for other filter sizes for use with HD-7000PRO are available as well.

Remote control function and internal video light/Flash may not work properly with conversion lens attached.

All of Raynox conversion lenses are proudly made in Japan. At Raynox's wholly owned manufacturing subsidiary, every stage of production is rigorously checked and tested so that the lens elements compensate effectively for astigmatism, distortion and spherical aberration.... for an excellent image quality.
