Wonderful sound. Open, dynamic, with a great sound stage. Works best with a portable or stationary headphone amplifier of good quality. Use a lower-impedance headphone of 300 Ohms or less, preferably less, to run from a phone or tablet. Also, the open-back design makes for outstanding sound, but not private listening.

I recently bought Sennheiser HD650s after having my money tied up on Adorama after a refund. I appreciate that Adorama has live chat customer service and easy returns but at $499 they are about $100 dollars above retailers like Amazon who offer even easier returns, shipping and world class customer service. I would probably buy from Adorama if I was shopping for camera equipment but for basic retail purchases they?re not very enticing.

Headphones were awesome, great sound, amazing lush mid range! Super comfy (for most). I sadly had to return them though as they are not very deep and pushed on my abnormally large ears. Big ears beware!

Nice headphones. Needs a little bit of break in time but sounds better each time I use it. Most of what I listen to is Purist Jazz and Classical Music with a emphasis on Chamber music. Some classic rock as well. Can sound warm on some recordings but this due to the recording itself. It’s amazing how the true recording is when you have an exceptional playback system. You notice more delights on the excellent recordings and more disappointment on the so-so recordings.

It is a great headphone. I have used AKG-240 and Sennheiser HD-280. I greatly prefer HD- 650s. They are comfortable and non-fatiguing. I would highly recommend them.

Went from 598’s to these and am completely satisfied. The sound is amazing and Live music and acoustic playback is crisp and immersive. The only minor setback is that the headband takes a while to break in and the initial listening sessions can become slightly uncomfortable. Apart from that these headphones take high fidelity audio to the next level! Paired with the modest Schiit Magni/Modi DAC and amp stack these headphones come to life!

Great headphones! Not much else to say that hasn't already been said. I also own the HD800 (older version), and they are very different. The 800s are more clinical and precise, great for mixing but not my first choice for listening. The HD650s on the other hand are detailed but warmer and more pleasurable for listening. I will be using them as another reference point for mixing and my main pair for just enjoying music. They have a relatively high impedance so make sure you have a decent headphone amp!

If you could only have one choice in hi-fidelity headphones, you can't go wrong with the HD650s. Especially now that they have dropped in price over the years. The soundstage in these cans is incredible, and the overall sound is warm and lush. These are also very comfortable headphones which you can wear for 8 or more hours plus without any fatigue. These are my go-to cans for any listening needs. They are open back headphones though so don't expect to be taking these anywhere public. All that being said, these are well-renowned headphones and it is a great investment.

Sounds OK when compared to my old Grado SR60 which is about six times cheaper than the HD650. I find the pressure it exerts on my ears and head to be too much, especially when I have not found a way to adjust it. Does not sound any better than the entry line Grado SR60 which is lighter and more comfortable.

After much research finally decided to buy these. Great customer service. Comfortable and great sound. I am discovering new details in my music. My first headphones had a manufacturing flaw on the headband. Adorama replaced with no questions asked. Satisfied with purchase. If in doubt read review this headphone is still sought after and popular among audiophiles.

All things aside, I was able to snag these brand new from adorama at ($) I strangely prefer these compared to several other headphones. Not to mention, they're very comfortable for me. In my case, because my hair is real short, the clamping force doesn't bother me at all. I paired mine with a JDS Labs "The Element" DAC/Amp. I'm planning on upgrading to Schiit hardware soon.

These are the first "audiophile" class headphones that I've purchased. I've own both the Sennheiser HD75s and Sennheiser Game One, and you can definitely hear a difference. I bought the Monoprice Desktop Headphone Amp (USB DAC) to drive these, and have no complaints at all. Keep in mind that you'll want to make sure you have high quality recordings to listen to. With these, you can definitely hear a difference between a lossless FLAC version of a song and an MP3 or streamed version of a song.
