A really solid lens. Wide open at T2 in a zoom you will notice the focus move on you a bit but almost unnoticeable when shooting at T3.2+. A really pretty lens and very versatile. The weight is solid and doesn't feel off balance when mounted. The lens has a very long pull with both zoom and focus. If your pulling manually you better have big hands, it will be much easier with a focus knob or follow Focus in my opinion. The #'s are illuminated and was surprisingly handy shooting in a dark theater one day. Overall a really solid lens I was happy to purchase.

These won't replace our nicer lenses but as an upgrade to the Canon L-series glass, these meet the mark.

These are a nice upgrade over the standard Canon L series glass. They meet my expectations for a lens at this price range. They have also been a popular rental item at f11rentals.com

Awesome lens!!!
While designed to meet the exacting demands of filmmakers, the High-Speed Zoom Line lenses for Sony E-mount cameras, including the 18-35mm and 50-100mm T2.0, are engineered to deliver consistent T2 brightness across the entire zoom range. These lenses are not only compact but also boast the highest image quality in their category, making them an exceptional choice for professional cinematography.
Key Features:
- Constant T2 aperture throughout the zoom range for superior light transmission and depth of field control.
- Exceptional optical performance, ready for high-resolution filming in 6K-8K, ensuring sharp, detailed footage.
- Compact and lightweight design, providing a balance between size and high-quality performance.
- A generous 180-degree focus rotation angle for precise and smooth focusing.
- Standardized gear positions, color correction, filter size, and front diameter for compatibility with a wide range of accessories.
- Super 35mm format compatibility, delivering cinematic image quality.
Sigma's meticulous lens craftsmanship includes a rigorous inspection process, utilizing their proprietary A1 Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) measuring system with 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors. This ensures that even the most subtle high-frequency details are captured, guaranteeing lens performance that meets the highest standards.
The design of these lenses incorporates advanced computer-based ray tracing to minimize flare and ghosting, enhancing contrast even in challenging backlit conditions. Each prototype stage undergoes thorough ghosting analysis to eliminate any potential issues, ensuring clear and crisp images.
Sigma's commitment to image quality extends to a harmonious sharpness and bokeh effect, as well as standardized color balance across the lineup, simplifying color correction in post-production. The optical system used in these lenses is derived from Sigma's experience in crafting lenses capable of 50-megapixel resolution in still photography, making them equally adept for high-resolution video work.
Durability and Build Quality:
- The lenses feature a robust, dust-proof, and splash-proof construction, akin to the Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM / Sports lens, allowing for reliable performance in adverse conditions.
- A 100% metal body ensures longevity and resilience for rigorous professional use.
- Luminous paint markings enhance visibility in low-light conditions, aiding in lens changes and operation.
- Laser engraving on the lens rings and components ensures that markings remain legible over time, even with heavy use.
Practical Design Elements:
- A standardized 82mm front filter size across the lineup for convenience when using ND filters (compatibility may vary by lens model).
- A 95mm front diameter, consistent with other cine lenses, allows for the use of standard matte boxes.
- The gear positions on each ring are standardized, facilitating seamless transitions when changing lenses without the need to readjust follow focus or other accessories.
- Silent ring stoppers with a special resin damper enable quiet operation, essential for sound-sensitive environments.
Manual Control and Precision:
- An extensive 180-degree focus rotational angle and an optimized cam design for cine lenses enable precise focus adjustments, especially for long-distance shots.
- A 160-degree zoom rotational angle allows for exact zoom control.
- The iris ring features full manual control without clicks and a standard T-stop display for accurate exposure settings.
- A linear iris ring provides consistent rotational angles per T-stop for intuitive exposure adjustments.
Compatibility and Accessories:
- The Sony E-mount is compatible with the Sony FS series and other E-mount cameras, allowing for exceptional DSLR movie shooting.
- Electronic contacts on the mount facilitate communication of vital lens information to the camera body.
- A dedicated lens support foot comes standard, providing additional support and enhancing mount stability without adding undue stress on the camera body.
- Each lens includes a cine-style front lens cap for protection when not in use.
These High-Speed Cine Lenses from Sigma are a testament to the fusion of advanced technology and user-centric design, offering filmmakers a reliable, high-performance tool for capturing their vision with clarity and precision.
