roger w : will the sigma 70-200mm sports lens work with a z6 nikon cameraif I use a FTZ ii mount adapter ?RANDY D : yesRANDY D : Yes! I have the Z6 and the older adapter... works well with the Sigma. The Z6 does not have stellar autofocus, but works well enough for HS softball and baseball.RANDY D : Yes! I have the Z6, the older adapter, and the Sigma works fine. I'm sure you've been alerted to the weight of the lens, and yes, it is heavy. I use this primarily for HS softball and baseball, and use a monopod often.

Seriously one of the best lenses on the marked.DAVID B : Purchased the Nikkor 70-200mm found out it was not built as well and as strong as the Sigma 70-200 Sport series, excellent reviews from 1st hand photographers who use this lens. Awesome lens

Amazing lens, so fast, so crisp and clear. We bought this for work but it makes me very jealous that I don't have one for home use.

Big, Heavy and Superb Image Quality

A+ for image quality. Take note: this is a seriously BIG and HEAVY lens. Optical performance at 70 and 200mm settings and critical f/5.6 aperture is simply stellar on my Nikon D850. Zoom resolution compares favorably to my Sigma ART 135mm, although the prime lens is sharper than 135mm on the zoom. The ART 135mm prime is the sharpest lens I have ever seen or used. Pixel peepers will be very happy with this zoom shot under optimal conditions. I am delighted with the 70-200 zoom performance. Focus is very accurate and fast. The focus range is switch-selectable as either Full range or 3 meter to infinity for faster focusing. The tripod collar and standard Arca-Swiss foot are not removable. However, there is a thumb screw that allows rapid rotation and locking in either portrait or landscape orientation detents, and intermediate positions. I'm ok with the permanent tripod foot, because the camera is attached to the lens.. not the other way around. I carry the heavy lens weight with the tripod foot to avoid any strain on the camera lens mount. I shoot events on a Gitzo Reporter tripod with a RRS PC-Pro pan base on a Sirui K40 ball head and Sirui L10 tilt platform on the pan base. This is fast and very flexible. Once the ball is adjusted for Level orientation, the tilt is kept loose to allow for fast vertical changes without losing level.

Worth the weight

This lens has truly stepped up not only my photography but also my video work as well. The one drawback I have is the weight of the lens. If you shoot handheld just make sure you are ready to tote this around. I truly love this lens!

Fabulous lens and service

By JEAN R.

Wow! This lens combined with the Nikon D850 is awesome Jeff at Adorama was fantastic to work with and made sure it arrived in time for fall foliage photos on my birthday

The ever-evolving 70 200mm is now available in the Sports line The F2.8 zoom lenses are the essential equipment for many professional photographers. 70-200mm F2.8 lenses in particular are expected to perform at their best in various challenging scenes, from news to sports, landscape, and portraits. The SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Sports has high optical quality, a tough design and excellent handling - all of the features required by professional photographers and high-end amateurs. The all-round, ultimate 70-200mm F2.8 is now available.

Combining all of the features required by professional photographers

To make the lens lightweight while maintaining robustness, magnesium is used to ensure high mobility. As a lens from the Sports line, the dust- and splash-proof structure, together with the water- and oil-repellent coating on the front lens, ensures safe use even in the most challenging shooting conditions. The SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Sports also incorporates Intelligent OS1 with an acceleration sensor and the latest algorithm capable of panning in all directions. The high-speed AF, thanks to the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) with an updated algorithm, captures instantaneous photography movement

Incorporating 10 exclusive low-dispersion glass elements

To provide excellent correction of color aberration, nine FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass elements and an SLD (Special Low Dispersio n) glass element, in total ten exclusive low-dispersion glass elements are incorporated. From the center to the corners, extremely high resolution is realized, making the lens capable of meeting the most demanding needs of professional photographers in various s hooting conditions. By optimizing spherical aberration, a smooth and natural bokeh effect is ensured making the lens perfect for po rtrait photography.

Customization is possible to improve versatility
An AF Function button is provided to allocate various functions. By selecting it from the menu on camera bodies, or using the optional SIGMA USB DOCK, functions other than AF Lock can be allocated too.
