Excellent Sturdy & Flexible

The backpacker kit is a really well built, solid reliable piece of kit which enables me to carry my heavy DSLR very comfortably on my camera backpack shoulder strap, safety out of the way but quickly accessible when needed. I also have Spider Holster belt with a storage pouch, between the two I can always carry Camera and lenses comfortably and securely, and change lenses on the go without any risk of accident.

Great with a space for an improvement

I love spidex-backpacker kit, but I use it in a different way than intedender, as a belt holster, since the size fits me better than the huge camera belt holster. For backpack use, I tried few backpacks to install the kit on the straps and inability to tighten the grip on the strap even when rubber inserted leaves space for improvement. BUT! Its stile quite superior to Peakdesign capture which i had for few years. Same with wrist strap. I would definitely buy Spider holster again, this is my 5th piece I ordered - previously used metal version, belt clip, etc. Also big shoutout to support team who helped me to get my order prior my photo gig. Thanks again!

Works Well

I have taken this on several hikes and events. I like that my cameras sit on my hip with no problem. Feels mush better in my opinion then having them hanging from my neck or shoulders.

Amazing Product

After using several different straps over the years I decided to try the spider holster and it is amazing, especially when you're shooting where you need to have both hands free. It's comfortable and I would buy one again in a heartbeat! I mostly shoot band related stuff and nature.

Used on shoulder strap of backpack and on belt, liking results. Most important is build quality I am getting more confident in hanging multi thousand dollar camera and lens as I persue birds and animals. May invest in rain cover for those impromptu showers. Thank you! Happy New Year! Ken

Tether

If you don?t use a tether for added security check that the mounting screw is tight regularly. The mounting screw came loose on my camera and would have fallen, but I had the camera strap installed and balled up in my pocket. That saved me. I don?t like using a tether with the Spider. I figure if I am going to use a tether why bother using the Spider?

perfect. For those saying it?s hard to snap in, they have it in upside-down. Works great.

Great Device!

I used this on my kid carrier while hiking around glacier national park. I loved it. Kept my camera handy and it felt very secure despite using with EOS R with 28-70 f/2.8 (pretty heavy) attached.

Spider X for Fuji X-T30

I have been a long time user of the original spider holster and finally bit the bullet to by the X for mirrorless cameras. The kit is great, the improvements over the original kit is great, my only problem is the mount still blocks the battery window on the Fuji X-T30. It's manageable, and likely more linked to where fuji put the screw port than any design issues with the spider x.

Absolutely the best system for backpacking

Like many here I have been on a very long quest to find the perfect camera carry for backpacking. I have carried DSLRs and mirrorless cameras for hundreds of miles in the backcountry and have tried everything. For many years I just used a "holster" style pouch made by Lowepro or Thinktank. Then I used a Mindshift Ultralight Camera Cover, secured around my waist with a lanyard securing the camera to a D-ring on my shoulder. Finally, I evolved to using the Peak Design Capture 3.0. I didn't really love it, largely because you must have the camera lined up on 3 axis (x, z and y axis, or pitch, roll and yaw to use an aviation term) to drop it smoothly into the slot. In other words, you better have your camera straight as you try to put it into the clip or you will have problems, and same lifting it out. I feel the awkward dynamics of this fact put the camera in danger of being dropped at times. I am often tethered to my large dog, and if he pulled on the leash at the wrong moment my camera would drop to the ground. With my bigger Canon R5 with a 2.8 lens, I would need to grasp it around the lens to lift it out straight, because grabbing the grip would torque it at a strange angle. This meant my camera was in danger of being dropped momentarily. The Spider Holster completely solves this. You don't need to be all that accurate to drop your camera into the holster slot. Sure, you need to put the ball in the slot, but it does not matter what angle your camera is at as long as the ball is more or less facing the holster. It is as no-look as it gets. When you go to lift it out, you can grab the grip securely and just lift- at no point does the camera feel vulnerable due to dropping in/removing from the Spider clip. I also love how the design allows the camera to roll and move a bit. Contrary to many who see that as a bad thing, I believe it allows your backpack strap to stay securely flat against your body while the camera naturally rolls back and forth as you walk. Some would rather the camera were locked in place like the Peak Design, but this only means that the whole weight of the camera will be moving the clip against your chest with each step. I find that less comfortable. Now for the uninitiated, there are couple of tips I can give you. First, you absolutely should use this kit in conjunction with a stand-alone spider clip on your belt. I believe the clip alone is 35 dollars. The reason for this is that whenever you go to take your backpack off, you do not want your camera attached to the shoulder strap. Having a Spider clip on your belt (pants belt, not backpack waist belt) allows you to drop the camera onto your belt clip when you remove your pack. This also gives your shoulder relief. That brings me to my next point, which is the fact that any heavy camera will not be all that comfortable on your front shoulder, period. I usually use this system with a Fujifilm XT-3 and f/2 lenses, which for me is about the limit of comfort. But even then I am switching the camera to the belt clip frequently to give my shoulder a rest. If you are carrying a full frame camera with a big lens for any considerable distance, there are much more comfortable places to put the weight of your camera than your shoulder. The second tip is you will still want a pouch or bag for your camera handy. I still carry a holster style bag slung over my shoulder, which hangs by my left side, This way I can quickly put the camera away and zip it up if needed. Now this system does have a few minor flaws, but I still give it 5 stars because there is simply no other system like this. The first flaw I would say is the clam-style plastic mount that goes on the shoulder strap. It has a very large footprint, which can be uncomfortable for certain people and certain backpacks if the plastic lands right on top of your collar bone. I wish it had a smaller footprint and attached with bolts like the Peak Design system. The second flaw is there is no strap lug on the camera plate (facing where the battery is) This would be super helpful in attaching a safety lanyard. I'm aware they make a wire bail for this purpose, but I bought that product and the screws stripped easily. Overall, I have not found a better system for carrying the camera while backpacking, and I don't expect anybody will top this.

Excellent Experience

For my style of shooting, I prefer not to have a strap connected to my camera. The Spider X Holster is a great solution to keep my cameras on me without feeling tethered. With some practice, camera changes are intuitively quick. My setup is minimal and requires that I hang the Spider X Holsters on a leather belt. Since my kit is light (Fujifilm X system), there was no noticeable pull on my belt or pants during sessions and events. The addition of the mirrorless plates to my cameras adds marginal weight gain, although the pin placement is a noticeable change when handling. Having two bodies on my hips makes it more difficult to squeeze through tight situations; however, removing one camera from a holster while maneuvering helps. This system removes weight from my shoulders and neck, which provides noticeable relief on longer days. If you don't mind feeling wider at the hips, I recommend looking into this system.

X Holster Review

I got the X Holster so I could go hands-free on personal trips. I have the full-size holster system for my profession work where I always carry two cameras. The X Holster worked great over the weekend and I'm thinking about getting another one and trying them out together for my professional jobs.

Holster great. Delivery costs extraordinarily expensive.

Well made and easier to use than my Peak Design alternative. Delivery fee to Australia was more than the original item, making it very expensive, hence the 4 star rating. Clamp very hard to open originally but worked out how to do it easily. Very easy to use.

As advertised and genuinely awesome (so far)

I bought this because I thought all those hipster Etsy leather dual camera holsters look silly and I wanted something much more flexible in terms of usability. This checked all the boxes. I took it on a light 4 mile hike and wondered how much I would have saved if I found this before buying Peak Design camera straps. The ball mount and the backpack strap attachment was able to securely hold my Sony a6300 + 70-300mm telephoto lense so I had full use of both of my arms while scrambling up steep inclines like a monkey. The removable belt harness/mount is also incredibly secure and will serve perfectly as a quick swap system for a second camera body. The only non-issue I have is that the holster is not made of metal which may potentially reduce the life of the hardware. "Non-issue" because I doubt that I'll be able to break it but I guess we'll see when I get a few proper shoots with this setup.

Pretty hard to get on & off.

This is, as all of the Spider gear I've purchased, well made & durable. My only reservation with it is that it fits so tight to itself that I can hardly get it apart. Not to even think of putting it on my pack strap.

Holster works well

The Spider holster works great and my husband is pleased. He prefers the using the holster on his waist, but the shoulder holster works well when he needs it. We also have a Spider Web Tether as extra insurance.

Awesome piece of gear for the outdoor photographer

Excellent build and quality. This kit alone is modular. You can attach it to a backpack strap, loop it around your belt, or for the REAL barebones photographer the clip comes off from the belt loop and clips onto your belt. Ive used it in every way and it holds up well. I used it on a 3 day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks. It was tossed around with my backpack and its still holding up well. Mount baseplate also attaches to tripods. I used it on my Lumix GX8 and my Nikon N80, both worked well.

Perfect addition for holster belt

I recently purchased a mirrorless digital camera but I still have my DSLR. I have the holster and belt for the DSLR and this works great to add my new camera to the holster and belt. Now I can easily move about with both cameras. I love all the Spider accessories. They?re made well and strong enough to take the use from these cameras which are not light. These are great products and you can?t go wrong with any of them.

Tried, Tested, and True!

Extremely happy with this kit. Attached to my backpack with ease. The design is robust, convenient, and inherently helps prevent improper installation. The price is right (though I got killed on the shipping and Canadian import fees!) and the customer service was spot-on. My only complaint was a minor defect of the rubber pads on the base plate. The ends weren't completely flush and prevented me from flipping up my Sony Alpha A5000 screen. Nothing a utility knife couldn't fix, though! Will be keeping Spider in mind for future gear purchases.

Works Well

I have taken this on several hikes and events. I like that my cameras sit on my hip with no problem. Feels mush better in my opinion then having them hanging from my neck or shoulders.

The Spider X Camera Holster Set is a revolutionary, strapless, belt-mounted camera holster system designed specifically for mirrorless and lightweight DSLR cameras. This innovative product offers quick and easy access to your camera, combining robust strength with effortless usability.

Constructed from a highly durable, wear-resistant, lightweight nylon composite, the Spider X Holster base is designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use. It features the all-metal Spider Z Plate, equipped with a stainless steel Anti-Twist Pin, making it an ideal companion for mirrorless cameras.

The Spider Z Plate is designed with an Arca Swiss style profile, enabling swift mounting on any Arca Swiss style tripod heads. Additionally, the plate incorporates an extra, built-in 1/4"-20 tripod mount, making it compatible with other tripod plates. The Spider X Holster is versatile and can be paired with any of our Spider camera plates, including the Spider Z Plate, SpiderPro Plate v2, and SpiderPro Lens Collar Plate v2.

One of the standout features of the Spider X Holster is its self-locking design. The unique geometry of the holster and plate prevents accidental upward movement of the camera out of the holster. Simply rotate upward while removing your camera for a quick release. This intuitive feature offers an extra layer of security for your camera, ensuring it stays safe and secure.

Our patented ball-joint system provides your camera with just enough freedom of movement, so it's not rigidly attached to your body. Your camera moves freely with you, with your lens pointing backward, allowing you to squat quickly without worry. Your flash, if used, hangs parallel to your leg, offering unparalleled comfort no other camera holster can provide.

The Spider X Holster is not just robust and versatile, but also incredibly easy to use. Simply clip it onto any belt, and your mirrorless or lightweight DSLR camera will stay secure at your hip, thanks to the holster's 2 Position Lock. For longer hikes, consider our Spider X Backpacker Kit, which allows you to attach the holster to any backpack or messenger bag strap, and even harness a GoPro simultaneously.

The Spider Z Plate is designed with Arca-Swiss compatible geometry and will attach directly to any Arca-Swiss style tripod head. It also features an extra 1/4"-20 tripod socket for any other plate you may want to attach. The Spider Z Plate's slider moves left to right and is reversible, ensuring your battery door remains unobstructed and easy to open.

In summary, the Spider X Camera Holster Set offers a simple, safe, and secure solution for carrying your camera, providing secure freedom of movement and quick access when you need it most.
