The Sima monopod's short length and light weight works well for travel; my first Sima monopod got used a lot with a heavier 35mm SLR with separate flash unit, which over a couple of years wore out the top locking cam lever and spring-loaded shoe release in the tilt head. Better use would be with one of the many digital point-n-shoot cameras out now, although in current use, I've had pretty good luck with two Sima monopods bolted together as a bipod (removing the tilt heads altogether)that have virtually eliminated camera shake on quick set-ups for either lightweight or medium-weight cameras when the use of a regular tripod was too much bulk or time to bother with. 'Shooting stick' bipods do the same work, but nothing as short as this unit that still provide camera support at a near-standing position.
