Shipped fast, works great beyond the occasional Mak-Cass air currents if the temperature vhanges too abruptly. See attached pics that I got with this Skymax 127 on a CG4 manual eq mount, and captured with ZWO ASI120MC-S.

For a smaller aperture than I'm used to using, this little scope packs a punch at 6". The optics are superb, colors pure, field perfectly flat. I also own a TPO 10" Truss RC, but it's big and bulky and susceptible to breezes for short exposure astrophotography. I bought this little Sky-Watcher beauty because even in breezy conditions, its profile and weight keep it from being moved around much. At this price, and with optics of this quality (for which Sky-Watcher is well known in all their scopes), it's impossible to go wrong, especially for portable setups.

Haven't had a chance to try it out yet but it's absolutely an amazing scope right out of the box. I am very anxious to aim it to the sky and observe the wonders with my lil man.

First, the telescope looked just like the picture. It is a fantastic instrument. Its combination refractor and reflector makes this around 1 foot length scope actually over 4 feet long (1300mm) in focal length. This increases contrast and improves the viewing image. It is excellent for astrophotography. The red dot works perfectly as a substitute for a finder scope when aligned carefully. Having the eyepiece at the end eliminates the problem of setting up an equatorial mount and trying to see the Southern skies. The lenses and diagonal that comes with it are very good quality. Any kind of mount (including a camera tripod) would work well with this instrument because of its light weight. Oh, finally, can you imagine what an equivalent 100mm primary lens refractor would cost when comparing this unit....about 3 times the cost ($1000).

Bring the cosmos closer with the Sky-Watcher Skymax 150 Maksutov-Cassegrain 150mm Telescope, a compact powerhouse designed for both amateur and professional astronomers. Despite its compact size, this telescope delivers high-resolution, diffraction-limited optical systems that are multi-coated to enhance contrast and image sharpness, making it an ideal choice for those seeking to explore the universe from their backyard.
The Skymax 150 Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope, part of Sky-Watcher's premier line, offers a perfect balance of aperture size and lightweight portability. It's designed to provide unparalleled planetary detail, serving as an excellent alternative to Schmidt Cassegrains and Newtonians. With a focal length that's 5-7 times longer than other models, it increases overall magnification, allowing you to see celestial bodies in greater detail.
This telescope features a meniscus-shaped corrector plate that eliminates any spherical aberration caused by the primary mirror, ensuring clear and crisp views of the night sky. The Skymax Maksutov series telescopes deliver refractor-like views and superior contrast, thanks to Sky-Watcher's commitment to quality optics.
The Skymax 150 boasts a borosilicate primary and secondary mirror with a quartz overcoat, producing 94% reflectivity. The corrector plate utilizes Sky-Watcher's signature Metallic High-Transmission Coatings (MHTC), giving visual astronomers professional-grade optics for a unique viewing experience.
In addition to its visual benefits, the Sky-Watcher Skymax 150 Maksutov-Cassegrain 150mm Telescope is an excellent tool for beginning astrophotographers. It delivers exceptionally long focal lengths, necessary for capturing detailed images of planetary bodies, the moon, or the sun (with the use of a solar filter). This increased image scale eliminates the need for a Barlow lens or other accessories that might increase exposure times, making it a user-friendly choice for those venturing into astrophotography.
Experience the universe like never before with the Sky-Watcher Skymax 150 Maksutov-Cassegrain 150mm Telescope, a compact yet powerful tool for all your stargazing and astrophotography needs.
