A small and silent expansion chassis
Softron has a lot of experience working with Sonnet and their xMac mini Servers and xMac Pro Server solutions. These are amazing products that have been put into service by a number of their users who require rack-mountable solutions. The Sonnet Echo Express SEL is the only Thunderbolt 2 device that is suitable for Low-Profile cards, making it the smallest yet most powerful solution to accommodate the Low-Profile Deltacast card that they chose for the M|80. As you can see in the picture above, you will notice that this chassis is very small - just like the new MacPro! AND most importantly, it is QUIET!

What about 2K and 4K?
With the M|80, you are able to record either:

• 8 x HD (or SD)
• 4 x 2K
• 2 x 4K signals

System Requirements
As usual, the system requirements will depend on the format and codec that you will be using and Softron recommend that you run tests to confirm. Note also that you may want to check the Thunderbolt bandwidth limitation, as for example in 1080i59.94, you can not work with 8 channels in 10-bit, you can maximum do 6 channels in 10-bit and 2 channels in 8-bit. In 1080i50 or 720p60 for example, there is no problem, it all depends on the format and sample size you require.

The M|Case - Made for portability
The M|Case is an optional watertight, crushproof and dustproof case made by the famous Pelican case manufacturer. Softron have designed a beautiful custom foam that will allow you to transport up to two of your favoriteM|80, M|62 or M|44 together with a Mac Pro securely. The M|Family of products is an ideal solution for mobile productions. And the M|Case allows you to transport it together with a Mac Pro in a small case. It is based on the 1440 Top Loader Case. With its strong wheels and retractable extension handle, you are ready to roll a complete M|familysystem to where the production happens.

Need to rack mount?
The M|80 comes with the Sonnet Echo Express SEL and hosts a Low-Profile card. With its small factor, this very nice for portability. But for those of you who need to mount the M|80 in a rack, using for example the Sonnet xMac Pro Server, they can provide a standard Full-Height bracket that will fit in a regular PCI slot. Just mention it when you order and they will include it for you.
