XLR Adaptor for Alpha cameras with 96kHz / 32bit float
Connect XLR microphones to an Alpha camera and capture high-quality audio within the Sony ecosystem, with 96kHz / 32bit float recording that handles everything from whispers to sudden loud sounds while reducing the need for gain adjustments and maximizing post-production flexibility.
96 kHz sampling for detailed audio
Ambient textures and subtle vocal nuances are captured at up to a 96 kHz sampling rate for detailed recording that maximizes the performance of professional microphones. With a Hi-Res Audio-compatible microphone, frequencies beyond 20 kHz can also be captured, expanding post-production flexibility and adding depth and realism to your work.
32 bit float for flexible post-production
32 bit float recording on compatible cameras provides wide dynamic range and greatly reduced risk of clipping when levels are adjusted during editing. This makes post-production workflows more flexible and reduces the need for precise gain adjustments during recording.
Dual ADCs for wide dynamic range
To maximize the performance of high-quality microphones, dual ADCs combining two analogue-digital converters (ADCs) operating at different gain levels are employed, faithfully reproducing a wide dynamic range from extremely quiet to loud input sounds.
With the dual ADC-equipped XLR Adapter, the captured audio is converted into 32 bit float digital data, preserving the full dynamic range and enabling greater flexibility in post-production without precise gain adjustments during recording.
4-channel audio input
Supports 4-channel audio input, allowing simultaneous multi-microphone recording to independent tracks for flexible editing. Safety channels with different gain settings and flexible input assignment to CH1-CH4 provide greater confidence and creative control.
Convenience of Sony's ecosystem
Simply attach the XLR Adapter to the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe of a compatible camera to enable cable- and battery-free power and audio connections. Support for Hi-Res Audio microphones and 96 kHz/32 bit float recording delivers high-quality, edit-resilient sound with independent 32 bit float WAV recording.
Intuitive operation
A high-visibility layout improves operability, with OL (overload) lamps on each input for instant level monitoring. LOW CUT and ATT (attenuator) switches and manual gain dials are grouped on one side, enabling flexible and intuitive setup for each output channel.
Shoe Audio Extension Cable (supplied)
The supplied Shoe Audio Extension Cable provides flexible mounting options. Even when used with a rig, it enables adaptable installation to achieve an optimal layout for different shooting environments.
High durability for professional use
A low-profile, reinforced design ensures high durability for on-location use, while a low center of gravity reduces stress on the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe. When used with the supplied Shoe Audio Extension Cable Reinforcement Attachment, stable and reliable mounting is maintained even during extended operation.
Support for USB audio output
The built-in USB Type-C port connects directly to a PC for camera-free applications such as studio recording and audio podcasting. The supplied Mini-stand provides stability and flexibility.
Environmentally conscious
Sony's environmental plan "Road to Zero" aims for a zero environmental footprint by 2050. The XLR Adapter uses recycled plastic materials, constituting more than 22% of the main unit's plastic weight, including our durable SORPLAS material. We are also transitioning to non-plastic packaging materials.
