I have always been a Sony fan. I currently run a set of newly rebuilt Sony SSU7221's and they are great but I wanted to lighten my bass and enhance my midrange sound and still use my 721's. I placed the SSCS3's on next to the vintage ones, all four at the front t of the room and these SSCS3's are amazing. Alone they sound fantastic! I have never been disappointed in a Sony product

I bought a pair of these speakers and they are performing to my expectations, for the price point they are a good buy.

Bought this a couple weeks ago to replace the huge ones we had. Worried about the sound with the speakers being much smaller but nothing to worry about the sound is great.

Wonderful speakers that lack only a deep throbbing bass. Everything else is perfect. Good build quality, nice looking with well rounded highs and mid range. For $350 for the pair it was a bargain. I also bought a new Yamaha receiver/amp that puts out 150W/Channel. The speakers handle that wattage with little effort.

I haven?t had a stereo for over 20 years. I wanted to build a 7.1 av system for less than $1000 which would also get me a stereo receiver. I bought the seven Sony av speaker system and a nice Yamaha receiver. I loved it so much that I bought two more of the floor standing speakers (SSCS3s) for my basement (my zone2)?so I have four of these tower floor speakers. I am extremely happy with the sound on Blueray DVD movies, AM/FM radio, Apple Music & internet radio (JPOP from Japan!), and USB music. The sound from all 9 of my Sony speakers is crisp and perfect. I am extremely happy! Recently I saw a YouTube video review which was less than kind regarding the tower speakers but endorsed getting the Sony bookshelf speaker instead. That?s wrong! It is true that the bookshelf speakers push the sound out the back and seem to give a wider sweet zone for sound, but to suggest getting bookshelves instead of the towers is ridiculous. Also, it seems that a number of people setting up a cheap av system with the Sony seven speaker set often fail to read the manual and understand how to configure the Sony subwoofer! Seriously, the SACS9 subwoofer is excellent as well. (Yep, you?re not gonna get sound from your subwoofer if the little speaker lights on the av receiver display aren?t lit up! You might need to hit the appropriate Yamaha Scene or ?straight? button, for example, and then Voila?CinemaDSP 7.1 sound?yep, with all the subwoofer you need! The Sony center speaker is perfect as well. (Atmos are fine but I did not put them in the appropriate location?I just flipped them on top of the towers so I don?t kill the ambiance of my large kitchen & dinette & family room.) I?ve got neighbors that spent thousands on av & they regularly have an av specialist visiting them. Meanwhile, I?m enjoying my Sony?s nearly everyday with zero problems and money in the bank (instead of ?invested? in an av system beyond the ear of 99% of the population). I know there are plenty of people drowning in money and NEED a high end system, but normal people will be very pleased with their inexpensive Sonys! If you are setting up your first av system, be patient, study the lcd panel on your system and slowly learn all the features. It won?t take you long to get it right but you just need to read, and slowly learn the basics. Sony has never let me down. Big fan!

I haven?t had a stereo in decades then decided to setup a basic Yamaha av system with the vanilla 7 speaker basic Sony setup. I was very surprised at the excellent sound anchored by two SSCS3 towers and a SACS9 subwoofer. I intended to buy two more of the Sony bookshelf speakers for my zone two, but I was so happy with the SSCS3s that I just bought one more for zone two?I?ll eventually pick up another one for zone 2. (I also like the idea of having instant replacements should I ever have a problem with the SSCS3s in zone 1). Per my av advisor I setup these towers initially configured as 6 ohm ?small?, and was supposed to switch them to large later?but the sound is so excellent I?m not changing the config. The range and sound is so perfect for all my needs, Apple Music on airplay, Blueray DVD movies, net music & radio & usb, and tv. Very happy.

After extensive research across numerous brands, this Sony SS-CS3 (3-way) possessed all the features I was looking for in a high quality floor-standing speaker in this price range. Even paired up with a Sony amplifier and receiver now 50 years old the sound quality is outstanding. I would highly recommend this product to others.

I bought these after much reviews/research. Best homework I've done. The mid and highs are right there! They do lack bass, nothing that a good subwoofer can't fix. The design/size is very good and light weight. Makes the speakers almost invisible.

So, let's see: after what seems like too long a time seemingly ignoring the music-first audio market, Sony came back swinging for the fences a few years back, first at the nosebleed high end of the market (remember those $44k "reference" loudspeakers?) among other cool-and-crazy hi-end gear, largely to prove that they still know how to do it. Then, they followed up with audio components at the very opposite end of the market, including a certain bottom-of-the-line receiver (STR-DH190) that took nearly everyone by surprise, including me: I went out and bought one, a bit skeptical that something that inexpensive could be at all special; trust me, It Is. Which brings me to the SS-CS3 floor-standing loudspeaker. I recommended these speakers to a friend who was looking to upgrade from an ancient "home-theatre-in-a-box" system (also from Sony), after raving to him about how good the STR-DH190 was: he ended up buying the receiver, speakers *and* Sony's PS-LX310BT turntable, and when I heard the whole setup for the first time, I was so amazed I wanted a pair; my wife, who was also listening at the time, surprisingly agreed(!), and greenlighted their purchase. Suffice it to say, just like the STR-DH10 receiver, this speaker punches way above its weight, with a good balance of clarity (midrange/vocals in particular) and low-end weight in a relatively compact package. Highly recommended.

I bought these speakers along with a new Sony center channel for my home theater. When combined with my subwoofer, the sound is incredible. It has completely changed our movie watching experience at home.

These speakers are a great value, they sound very good but not great but for the price paid very good speakers. Of coarse at 73 my hearing isn't what it used to be.

Bought 2, of course. They are playing well with the Yamaha receiver I purchased. No, they aren’t as fantastic as the top of the line speakers, but they are a good speaker set. The sound is definitely better than a lot of the comparably priced speakers. Seem to have great lows, a little bit fuzzy on the highs, sometimes. May just be me, though.

Very pleased with the "4" SS-CS3 Floor Standing speakers from Sony. Use 2 as my L & R, and the other 2 as my surround speakers. They look good, sound great and at a reasonable price point. Don't hesitate to buy this speaker.

Ok this is from my 89 year old mothers review, I put her Johnny Reid on - Fire it Up. After 1.5 minutes I asked her what she thought - she tells me the hair on her arms were standing straight up - this big smile on my face - that is all I needed to know.

I've had mine a lil over a year now, as left and right front channels in a 5.2 surround setup. I'm still amazed at the amount of bass from the 2 5 inch drivers. The bass is tight and detailed, while the highs accurate and not fatiguing.

AMAZING LIFE LIKE SOUND!
By simplyteeb024
Love how there are things I never heard before coming from these new Sony Speakers. I have a 5.1 system, and I'm hearing realistic sounds that sometimes I mistake for REAL sounds....birds, doorbells, dogs barking, car horns..... LOVE the realistic sound and the WIDE range these speakers have.
High Quality at Low Price

All I can say is that these speakers blow away most speakers at 4 x the price point. Well designed and meticulously built. A must buy for anyone seriously into hi res.
Experience authentic, full-frequency audio with this versatile three-way coaxial, four-driver speaker system. Wide dispersion super tweeters provide high-quality audio across a wider soundstage, while mica-reinforced woofer cones deliver a deeper low end. Optimized crossover components help ensure minimal signal loss.
· Floor-standing speaker package
· Wide Dispersion Super tweeters for lifelike high-end
· Wooden construction with Bass Reflex enclosure
· 3-way, 4-driver speaker system
· 45 Hz to 50 kHz frequency response
High-Resolution Audio for uncompromising sound
Take your digital music collection to another level with High-Resolution Audio. By capturing music at a higher rate than CD, increasing both audio samples per second and the bitrate accuracy of each sample, High-Resolution Audio offers a near-perfect capture of an artist's music. Savor every breath and subtle movement for a truly emotional experience.
Super tweeters expand your soundstage
Feel your favorite music unfold throughout the room with precision and balance. These speakers include new super tweeters with wide directionality. High-frequency notes are reproduced precisely across an expansive soundstage-you can even sense the positioning of instruments-for an experience that's close to being there.
Enhanced sound pressure with reduced weight
Low sound pressure is a common weakness of small-sized tweeters and can result in unbalanced sound. These speakers include tweeters with high sound pressure, achieved through a variety of weight reduction techniques, including the integration of a more powerful magnetic circuit and a lighter CCAW (copper-clad aluminum wire) in the voice coil.
Mica Reinforced Cellular cone for undistorted audio
The perfect partner for today's bass-driven music. Many speakers use paper cones that flex and deteriorate over time, leading to a more distorted sound. Mica Reinforced Cellular (MRC) fiber woofers are rigid, holding their shape even when moving at high pressure and speed, so you can drive the bass harder without compromising audio quality.
5.12 in Woofer boosts low end frequencies
This speaker system incorporates a newly developed 5.12 in woofer for deep, stable bass. Utilizing a foamed mica-cellular diaphragm, it produces both powerful bass and the finer detail required for clear vocals and dialog in the mid-range.
High precision tweeter for faithful sound
Hear vocals that perfectly reproduce the energy and passion of the singer. The 0.98 in soft dome main tweeter features polyester fiber for a more faithful, authentic sound. Precise acoustic tuning, using advanced sound-absorbing felt, eliminates rear sound pressure from the tweeters to ensure natural-sounding vocals.
Premium components, premium sound
Poor connections can have a significant impact on overall sound quality. That's why these speakers use only premium components: air-core inductors in the tweeters, a silicon steel plate in the woofer, the thickest possible winding materials and high quality film condensers. Hear and enjoy every nuance of High-Resolution Audio in the detail it deserves.
Tapered faceplate edges keep sound clear
Eliminating unnecessary noise from the baffle board and cabinet is essential for a high quality performance. With slightly tapered faceplate edges, edge diffraction is suppressed for a clear and natural soundstage.
Rich acoustics with strong cabinet design
The ported, all-wood enclosures are built for resonant acoustics. Unwanted vibrations are dampened and absorbed, thanks to a rigid construction which includes interior joints strengthened with a solid wooden structure. Their designers also optimized the type and layout of interior sound absorbing material to control and precisely tune, cabinet resonant vibration.
High quality structure for clear music playback
These speakers are built on sound foundations. A strong, ported enclosure allows for rich, resonant acoustics. The bass reflex duct, positioned at the rear of the speaker, suppresses unwanted noise and improves low-frequency sound reproduction.
Wooden finish for style and substance
This speaker has a smart black finish that blends with most contemporary interiors. The wood veneer also retains its shape well, ensuring that the sound won't be influenced by changes in temperature and humidity.
