I really wanted to love these because of the Sony reputation for sound quality, but they just fall out of my ears. I even bought and tried different earbud tips. Very disappointed because I chose these for my 15 year anniversary gift at my company.

Great sound. However, purchased in 2022, lasted less than 1 year before I needed to replace them under warranty due to battery issues. Horrendous warranty experience over months. Eventually got a new replacement pair. This lasted about 1 year before it took developed battery issues. Does not hold charge in left earbud. For such an expensive product very very disappointing it only lasts 1 year. Awful experience with Sony customer service. Would not recommend Sony products, look elsewhere.

I received these as a gift a couple of years ago and they were great. Now I can't go more than a minute and the left ear bud says the battery is drained...which it's not...and it disconnects. Super disappointing as I know these aren't cheap (well cost wise anyway). I wouldn't recommend. I can't use them anymore. This isn't just my problem..I see many people have this issue. Sony should replace them.

The earbuds claim to be fully charged but now only last 15-20 minutes. Bluetooth connectivity is average and does tend to disconnect often. The app is horrible to use. However, the audio quality is good.

These worked well but did not have the promised best sound. After not using them for some time for fear they would be lost as they never fit properly, even with the earpads provided, I decided to give them another try. After fully charging them with the provided cords the, the left ear dropped the charge within minutes (100% to 0% in under 5minutes). Went online and read that it might be a firmware issue. Tried updating to the latest but was unable to do it in one try because of the draining battery. When I was able to finish the update, the battery went from 60% left and 75% right to 0% both. Even after resetting the battery now drains not in 5 minutes but on the left, almost immediately, on the right I may get 10 minutes out of it. Very saddened by this as they are expensive and seem to work poorly, much more so than the cheaper Monsters I wound up buying to replace these.

After 18 months the battery fails and the earbuds will not charge. You may as well purchase a far cheaper option.

I originally purchased these earbuds January of 2023. They were excellent and lasted very long even with prolonged use. But that changes when a firmware update rolled out and caused damage to the battery life of the earbuds. Now when fully charged they barely last an hour and the drain is unequal for each earbud. Since this happened after my warranty period there's nothing I can do. It's a shame because they were a quality pair of earbuds.

I'm not going to rehash everything that has been written online about these earbuds. Suffice to say, a firmware update by Sony has all but rendered these earbuds useless. Battery in the case and right earbud deplete fully in about 2 1/2 hours. Battery level in the left earbud still has plenty of power. Sony may have got their wish to ensure users buy a replacement. I will - but they will definitely NOT be made by Sony.

I purchased these earbuds about a year ago. They sound great and fit nicely in my ear. The look of them is classy. There is an app you download to pair the earbuds to your phone. The downside is that if you are unable to access that app via internet or wifi you may not be able to connect them to a new device. They dont have a pairing button on the case so the app is a must. I took a flight and was unable to connect them to another device because they were not previously paired, rendering them useless. Im also already having major issues with them holding a charge, one earbud draining as much as 80% within 30 minutes. Im performing another software update which will take about 30 minutes to complete so we will see if that fixes the problem!

This product cost 180£ and in less than 2 yrs the batteries are kaput . Sony should have at least offered a trade in against new ones as they knew there was an issue with these expensive headphones

Had to send both pairs I bought back in October of 2024 cause of a charging issue. BOTH my husbands and my case and headphones were getting hot during charging. They gave us both a new pair, after 4 months the left earbud started making a wind noise when it was on noise canceling or ambient sound. Didn't make it when those were turned off. I take great care of them, they have not been dropped or beat up in anyway. Honestly makes the earbuds worthless since I can only wear one now. The whooshing noise in the left ear bud is enough to drive you crazy. These earbuds have been way more trouble than they were worth. It sucks that they only have a one year warranty because my husbands, mine and others I know that have this model, they started having issues shortly after the year. It's almost like they degrade in quality after some updates, so that you have to buy new ones.

After reading many reviews I went ahead and bought these headphones in November 2021. The sound quality and noise cancellation is excellent. I have really only used them while travelling which is not too often. When I got them the fully charged batteries indicating 100% would last up to 6 hours before needing a recharge or top up from the charging case, ideal for most travel destinations within Europe. I used them on a flight to London last September and noticed a big deterioration in the battery life. Thinking I did not charge them properly I fully charged them for a recent 4 hour flight and got approx 2 hours usage before they needed a recharge. I have to say I am very disappointed with the life span and reliability of these headphones considering they were bought from a very reputable retailer and were not cheap. I acknowledge that they are outside the warranty period but considering the little use they have had I would expect a far greater life from them. I have been in touch with Sony customer service and unfortunately because the warranty period is up I would need to pay for a chargeable repair. I will conclude by saying don't leave them in a drawer waiting on the next flight make sure you use them a lot during the warranty period in case any problems develop that way at least you will be covered. Very disappointed.

These were great for about a year. Now the right ear bud has next to no battery life. Won't charge passed 80% and will go from 80% to 10% in 15 minutes. The last 10% will only last about 2 minutes before it "dies."

The battery will drain really quickly on the earbuds. Even if you start with fully charged earbuds, using them for 5 minutes will drain it down to zero and turn it off. This is very frustrating!

Although all the reviews online say "Buy these if you can't afford the XM5 model", don't buy them. One little firmware update and they're useless. The Left Ear battery life drops to about 15-20 minutes. This is by far and away the worst purchase of Sony equipment I have ever made in my life.

However, even if you walk a little fast, they fall out of your ears. Reaching customer service is difficult, and for this price, I expect them to last longer or have additional service centers for repairs. However, I'm not sure about the cost yet.

Great sound and features. Comfortable fit. Totally let down by batteries. They now only last about 20 minutes. Read that it could possibly be software so have updated but still have a terribly frustrating product. I have now gone back to using wired headphones.

These headphones sound absolutely great but just be prepared to buy another set within a year and a half or so after the warranty expires the battery drain is significant and they are almost useless. Probably get 20 minutes out of a full charge if that and I have another pair of Sony earbuds. That does the same thing. Please do not buy these products

Bought these earbuds nearly three years ago and the right earbud drains slot quicker than the left. I absolutely loved these earbuds when I bought them. They replaced the Sony WF-XB700 only purely because they weren't compatible with the Sony connect app. I still have my XB700 and they still to this day hold their charge I think they're nearly 5 years old at this point. Also I was disappointed with the volume level out the 1000XM4 so had to use a third party app to boost the volume. It's such a shame for expensive earbuds to not last even 4 years is disappointing. I'm afraid if I upgrade to the WF-1000XM5 will I be here in another three years with the same issue? It only happened after the last update the buds got. Everything was ok up to that point. I don't know if an update can fix them however if it does fix them I'll update my review. Just very unhappy now.

Then I contacted with technical support and they agreed to replace it in Sep 2022. Now, the same issue happens again. The left earbud only lasts less than 20 minutes and when it's charging, it gets really hot with red flashing on the case. I can feel that when I put in my ear and I doubt if it's safe to use it.

I just registered these after 3 years. I have used them for a while now. The earphones when working correctly are amazing. However poor hardware, construction or the various (and most likely latest) firmware updates (currently v2.1.0) have rendered my earphones almost unusable. The battery drains from both buds inside 45 minutes. Sony have said I'll have to pay to get them fixed at an unknown cost. You can also not downgrade the firmware, therefore stopping you from fixing them yourself. Shocking really, near enough £200 for under 3 years use.

Bought 1 for myself and another for my wife. Both started developing battery problems within a year, and 1 became unusable at around the 2 year mark, outside of warranty. Since this happened to both pairs, i doubt the quality of the batteries used
