Set-up is a PAIN IN THE POSTERIOR! Also, I purchased this printer because it very clearly stated that it takes ink from any manufacturer. Now the printer is trying to strong-arm me into accepting software updates that will make this printer only compatible with HP-branded ink cartridges. BATE and SWITCH!!!

I have been using HP printers for 30+ years both at work and home because of their quality. My new printer was easy to setup and the quality of the output is excellent.

It's a little odd to be tracked so tightly, for the company to know how many pages I've printed and whether or not I've changed cartridges, sending notifications that I have new cartridges I haven't installed yet, for example. The printer quality is OK, but it feels creepy.

If you need a basic all in one with digital (not analog) fax, this unit will do. I don't find the quality control of HP what it used to be years ago. I'll think twice before buying HP again.

This unit would not work on ethernet with a DHCP address assigned based on MAC address. Tried to get tech support but since it was refurbished its serial number was still in the system so you wouldn't honor support, the system said it was expired. I tried for days to get a support person on the phone and closest I could get was a chat and she immediately wanted to sell me an extended service plan on a printer I had for less than 4 days. Your refurb plan sucks. I sent it back and bought something else.

This is a great printer so far. It replaces a still working fine 8610 and is shorter, which is what I was after. It actually prints when I want it to unlike the 8610 that seemed to sleep a lot and not wake when a new print job was sent to it. Setup when smoothly - mostly (see below) and I was up and going in short order. The duplex operation actually works with lighter weight recycled paper with is also great! There are a couple tweaks I would like to see though. 1) During the setup process, there was a preparing message on the printer display after inserting the ink cartridges. It never went away. After power cycling there was a message about a firmware update being applied. I think there is a race condition between taking care of new ink and checking/applying a firmware update when no network is connected yet. 2) The scanner carriage needs lubrication or some different sliding surface. It works fine but grinds or sqeeks a little. I understand the tradeoffs here since I used to design these things but a little PTFE goes a long way. 3) Finally, the touch screen is WAY too sensitive to motion. As you swipe through the menu options and then try to pick one (scan in my case), it is very difficult because the firmware is written in such a way as to think I am swiping instead of just tuching the scan icon. It is also frustrating that a portion of the scan icon is just slightly off the edge of the screen which, apparently, makes it so I cannot select scan untill I swipe left a little. The UI is responsive at least. Note: I am NOT an HP employee anymore but the survey submit button was disable unless I said yes.

I received an 8139e a month ago and one of the cartridges wouldn't lock into place, They sent me another printer after I had tried to see if there was a geometry issue with the cartridges in other slots and the carriage got locked off to the right and wouldn't move back to center and allow me to correct the issue. The replacement printer a 8135e this time and had the same cartridge problem to just a different slot this time. HP sent me a new cartridge on 8/22 and it DID lock into place, but the printer window had the same error display that the cartridge is missing or defective as it was before. That's the current situation.

Difficult to setup. Program window is too small. I called for help because the chat did not help. Very bad service. I am a longtime HP user but the quality is very poor now. Will not purchase HP again.

Setup was NOT for the uninitiated. To make use all capabilities other downloads and installations were needed (e.g. scan from PC). The touch pad is horrendous, does not respond well and requires multiple attempts or total retries (e.g. canceling activity and trying again). A very poor update from previous printer (HP 8620 Inkjet Pro) HP's quality control has gone south in favor of the bean counters and will result in a drastic sales loss, especially after it is compared to other manufactures!

I am truly surpised they're still in busines HP has degraded it products to a rediculous l level of SCAM! 1) You will need permission to return your purchase, which could take weeks! 2) Scam on top of scam.. You can only use HP cartidges for their printers! 3) Absolutely no product support. You can't call them!

The Hp person I talked to said this printer would fit my needs. My initial cartridges ran out in 3 weeks. I had a page wide pro before and it would print on anything and I really liked the ways the trays were set up with the bypass tray for all photo papers and card stock, etc. This printer does not print the reds as well and I find the paper tray to be very awkward as I use a lot of different paper types and if you don't have the right one selected, you get distorted prints. The reds are not the best. I wouldn't buy it again, but since I have it, I'll use it and either learn to like it or buy a different printer.

A new model of one I have used for years in my home office. A few quirks that make copying different, but I am still learning. The most noticinle thing is that the new copier is very very quiet. The old one sounded more like a tractor !

I was expecting a hassle and assumed I'd be calling my HP Smart Friend tech to help. Nope! I literally plugged it in and whalla all prompts from my phone went perfectly fine. However downloading the printer app on my laptop took some doing. Everything seemed fine until the last step installing the Smart Friend App., which I already had but there wasn't a directive. You were forced to install or Go Back. So I went ahead and clicked install. I guess it upgraded my existing app or over-rode whatever. I got it to print is all I cared about.

I bought this model due to its USB connectivity. However, the USB slot was covered. When I removed the covering, I discovered that the USB connectivity has been disabled. I was so disappointed.

One of the worst decisions I've ever made is to purchase this hp printer, I tried returning it and the customer service was undoubtedly terrible on every level that you can imagine. Never again

Cannot control print lightness, darkness or do printhead maintenance of any kind. That feature has been completely removed from all menus and in printer properties! Printing really wets the paper with ink and prints, especially colored prints are over inked. Intant ink calculates a whole page for just an extra line of text. Printer tray is flimsy. You have to open the printer to get the PIN for any kinf of information through HP Smart. the printer egisters a cartige change every time you open it for the PIN. HP Smart is anything but Smart. It's dumb and insulting to someone who wants the option of having even minimal control over print quality and maintenance. Calling it an All in One is a strech. Buyer beware. Website acount, my devices doesnt work properly. Even if I were interested in a better printer, I'm not anymore.

At tax deadline time, my HP all in one 8139E which was only a few months old The document feeder completely stopped working so I couldn't scan anything in to send to my tax guy I contacted HP and after a couple of hours on the phone it was determined that They couldn't fix the problem. They sent me out a refurbished printer that only printed pink. I just didn't have the time to get the replacement and set it up. So I dealt with that until I was pulling my hair out. I decided to just purchase another printer instead of dealing with whatever they would send me next. It's been two months now and Ive got my new printer working finally. I had to set aside the time to return THREE printers up and down stairs. packing them up, taking them to the return centers. For some reason everything had to be input several times over the course of days to get it to hook up properly and work with my devices. I have now bought two HP printers within the course of several months. HP offered me a fractional refund wich I'm still waiting for. Way too much wasted time and frustration. I'm 60 years old. I started with an HP COMPUTER and PRINTER when computers first came out. I have been a loyal customer for 25 years but I'm so disappointed at all the the confusion and frustrated at the final results. I'm left to feel as tho being a loyal customer means nothing at all anymore. What was I thinking??

I had a great HP printer for years. With the windows 11 update HP disabled my driver and forced me to purchase a new printer. The new printer it's the most cumbersome I've experienced. The paper tray doesn't have a way of locking in the size and when it slips when you close the tray it detects a larger size paper. The printer cartridges don't like to stay in place they pop out. Unless you are using the HP smart app on your PC the features the printer is supposed to have are not accessible such as two-sided printing.. I'm very disappointed in the way HP is changing their way of doing business. The quality of this printer is nothing like my old one. There is a notable change in everything they are doing and it's very disheartening. HP used to be the best on the market

Quick and easy
By Bill Y.
The installation was quick and easy and setting up all of our phones was a breeze (easier than all of my other HP printers). The one thing that I don't like too much, is I have to use the app to add and change my scan to email shortcuts. I didn't have to use the app before to make these setting changes.
