My Steiner DRS1X Red Dot with C2 Reticle

I finally broke down and purchased the Steiner DRS1X with C2 reticle about a week ago and I absolutely love it. The whole fit and finish of the sight is superb and the glass is super clear. I really like the three different reticles, 2 moa dot, then a dot with stadia lines on either side of the dot calibrated to 25 and 50 meters and a third option is dot with stadia lines on either side and below with a 13.64 moa dot for 7 to 5 meters. This arrangement is brilliant and fast. I have not taken the sight out to the range yet just because I?m conserving ammo right now so I can?t say how well it will perform on a rifle at the range. But when I do I?m sure this baby will definitely turn some heads. The only other thing to comment on is how simple it is to use, there are 3 buttons located on top, 2 for setting brightness and dimmer settings and the 3rd for power and cycling through the different reticles, that?s it. I have had a long history with Steiner binoculars and have been amazed at how tough they truly are, I?m hoping this sight from Steiner is just as tough and reliable. However since I haven?t actually tested it yet on the range I can?t make a recommendation for anyone to buy them until I can test mine.

Perfect for Backpacking

I had been looking for a compact, lightweight set of binoculars for backpacking and these fit my requirements perfectly. They come in a great little case that is easy to access and fold up small enough to pack into tiny creases of the pack. The small size does not skimp on quality or durability. I beat up my stuff and these have handled dunking in streams, drops and being sat on more than once, and came out with no blemishes. The optics quality is great and I like that they are 26mm objectives, rather than the more common 25, it makes a difference. I was able to follow wildlife for a long time without eye fatigue. The light gathering ability is amazing, no edge distortion, smooth turning of the knobs and reasonable price for the quality make these the best compact binoculars on the market in my opinion. Sure spending 3 times more may get one better glass, but who wants to take $600 binoculars camping where they can be beat up and wrecked.

T536 w/7.62 reticle

Clear glass, ok reticle, and accurate at first. Optic survived 300 rounds of 77 grain 556 mm through mid-length gassed, rifle buffered AR15, but what did not survive was the mounting base when tightened to Factory recommended torque specs using a torque screwdriver. Thankfully it was during a competition train up when accuracy issues started and upon inspection I discovered fractures had developed the length of the mounting base. Warranty taking care of the repair currently, but I expected an optic/mount combo advertised as a battlesight to be able to hold up during a non-impact range session and be more durable.

Excellent Quality - don?t scrimp

We are currently in Africa on a multiple three week safari and we cannot believe the quality and depth of perception that these binoculars give. Even our guide has been blown away by the small, light weight size of these glasses compared to their quality. If you are going on a trip that requires distant viewing, due yourself a favor and buy these binoculars. You will not be disappointed!

Close But Could Be Better

Typical Steiner quality! Super clear glass, some of the best in the industry. Huge field of view. But... The 2 MOA 50 meter dot is too small for rapid acquisition, especially in bright conditions. I would suggest 3 or 4 MOA would be better. I don't get the optional addition of a 3 dot stadia for 10, 7 and 5 meters. The dots are so close they are hard to distiguish and come off as more of a line than 3 dots. I would prefer 2 dots, one for 15 meters and another for 100 meters.

Never Be Left Guessing

I engage in wildlife photography and rely on binoculars to seek out creatures to capture digitally, and to study their behavior in their natural habitat. The first thing I noticed while breaking the seal and opening the box to my new Steiner BluHorizon 10x26 Binoculars is that they have a really nice weight to them?the weight of quality I will come to realize, and just right for their compact size. Although the supplied neoprene pouch has a belt loop, while in the field these field glasses will reside in my photo-vest upper chest pocket when not being viewed through. Then as I slipped them out of the pouch and held them I was quite impressed by how good they feel in my hands, and by how easy it is to get a steady grip on them due to their textured rubberized, rainproof armor. The teardrop-shaped rubber eyecups comfortably encircle the eyes and assist in quick eye positioning, and also aid in blocking peripheral light, wind and dust particles from distracting the eyes and disrupting viewing. Additionally, the eyecups can fold down and out of the way if viewing with eyeglasses. Their double-hinge design constructed on a durable metal bridge allows for compact storage, and offers enough friction to stay in place once properly adjusted for viewing through. The diamond-textured rubberized focus mechanism facilitates quick focus with or without gloves?and from about 10? to infinity these field glasses focus fast! They do not come with front or rear lens caps, but I wouldn?t use them?or I?d quickly lose them. I like that the neck strap can be attached and detached rapidly by simple pinch-clips, and I do appreciate the supplied lens cloth and the Steiner Heritage Warranty! My binoculars arrived the day after a heavy snowstorm, and the temperature was gradually rising above freezing?it was overcast and foggy...I stepped outside to give my new field glasses a try and was quite pleased with the viewing brightness and definition they provided upon scanning a wall of distant trees in the mist, beyond snow-blanketed wetlands, about 500 to 700 yards to the east, for any creatures that might be present; no critters were about, but I was glad to see the wide field-of-view these binoculars provide! The next day I arose just after sunrise and scanned the same wall of trees to the east but first without binoculars, and forced to squinting?I could hardly see anything in the distance due to the extreme glare while facing the morning blazing sun. Then I lifted my new binoculars to my eyes and scanned the same trees again and was amazed at how these optics cut through the blinding glare enough for me to detect individual tree trunks and branches in the hazy distance?sans eye strain or squinting?and if fox-sized or hawk-sized creatures, or larger, were out there I would have spotted them! And I would have been able to observe their behavior without causing undue stress to my eyes. Then slowly shifting viewing direction, I followed a frozen channel running northward, just a few hundred feet before me, hosting numerous blazing pools of thawed snow, and again I was pleased at how these binoculars handled the nuisance glare?toning down irritating reflections and enabling a nearly unfettered view of the frozen waterway. I then inspected treetops north of me and was quite impressed by the clarity and color performance these binoculars provided under bright blue skies. In ending, I love how these compact field glasses feel and operate, and how the optics adapt to provide above-average vision in harsh lighting conditions and great vision in all other lighting conditions?so to #neverbeleftguessing what?s out there!
