"Civilian Example" of the military version!!!" Plastic case, no zoom, no actual focus knob. Instead, both eye pieces have a dioplar setting ability. This is, at best, a SET focus "magnifier" masquerading as a true binocular. Don't fall for the outrageous hype. Keep your money in you pocket until a pair of the actual military binocular becomes available.

I really like the 8x25. They are a little smaller than I expected which was great since I bought them for hiking and backpacking. The lenses gather a lot of light. The focus system is superb and clear without adjustment beyond 30 yards for my eyes. Younger people might see clearly a little closer.

I have used Steiner products most of my life staring with a pair of 8x50 military binoculars on the boat and a fee models during my military career. I bought these after finding out that although the price is more manageable, the glass was still made by Schott AG like their other products. I have been incredibly happy using them at sporting events, fitting in my back pocket as well as hunting, fishing, and sailing adventures. If you have ever been on the fence about a pair of Steiner's, this is the pair to go for. Light and a no nonsense lifetime warranty on some of the best glass in the world. What a fantastic product! Another win from Steiner!
