Jeff K : base screw thread specifications is it 1/4"? and can it be removed?BRUCE F : Yes it can be removed. To do so, you turn "head" counter clockwise, thereby exposing the reversible screw that is 3/8 and 1/4. You reinstall by reversing the operation.CARL Z : Yes, it was 1/4" x 20. I removed the screw to install a quick release plate.

BOB R : Can anyone recommend a ball head that will complement the Sunpak carbon fiber monopod? Looking for one that's functional but will allow me to retain some of my life savings.TERRY C : I use a Flashpoint F-1 and find it great for smaller lenses but if you use any larger (heavier) lenses it becomes problematic. Based on that experience I would recommend as large a ballhead as the budget will bear for better support of heavy camera/lenses Like around 6+ pounds. Light weight and very compact great for securing to back pack Easy open and close BILL V : I use a Bogen(Manfrotto) 3055 ballhead on my Sunpak and it holds my Nikon film/digital cameras fine. However, my largest lens is my Sigma 600mm (fairly compact) catadioptric lens. I can't speak to how stable anything larger would be on that rig. I do also put my Mamiya C3 on it occasionally and it is steady.

Just right

The Sunpak Pro 724m Carbon Fiber monopod does just exactly what a monopod is supposed to do and does it well. Thanks to the carbon fiber construction it is light weight and easy to carry. It's easy to adjust to your preferred height and stays where it is adjusted. At the sale price I got it for, it was a no brainer decision and I am very happy with it.

Damaged my camera

The monopod is light but there is no rubber or padding where it connects to the camera and damaged the bottom of my nikon d750

sunpak monopod

I would definitely recommend this monopod. I use my camera to film my girls in sports. I now take better pictures because I can just swivel with the action and follow for the full hour or two events.

LIGHT ANF FANTASTIC!

A lightweight, but well made monopod. The price is excellant for carbon fiber, and priced very well compared to aluminum. It has All the features . I'm very happy with this one.

New to me

I've wanted a Monopod. Still learning how to use the unit. Holds my Rebel xti and the standard lens without a problem. Helps me to frame my shots without shaking.

Light, easy to work with, recommended

Much lighter than Bogen aluminum monopod. Works well with Benro B1 ball head and L50 quick release. Quite sturdy. Highly recommended.
