Questions & Answers

Shopper : I have canon T3i I does it match with this lens?JOANNE D : That is the camera I have and it works fantastic.ANDREW R : No. Canon FD is the old manual focus mount and is not compatible with any EOS system film or digital camera.
Luis G : Hi! I have a Lens Turbo 2 for my NEX-6 and was thinking on this lens. I have the SEL16F28 with the Ultra Wide Adapter so the focal range will be similar...will be improving my IQ with this lens you think?Bill G : In my opinion, this lens is is a nice lens for video, but a bit soft for serious stills. When used on my canon 60d with an adapter, it has a hot spot in the center, when shooting outside in bright sunshine. It is hard to say for sure, but my gut feeling is there would not be much of an improvement. As you probably know, the FD adapters have a lens in them. You might think of purchasing the M42 version of this lens and then using an M42 adapter, which does not have extra glas and might cure the hot spot issue. Iahave retired this lens and am now using canon glass.LEA F : I doubt the lens turbo would work well with the Phoenix; the Phoenix doesn't work well with the Phoenix. Yes, its cheap, but I would save a couple hundred bucks and go with a Sigma or Tamron at the very cheapest. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Brian D : So, I'm buying a 60D and want to buy this lens for it... so if I buy an FD mount adapter for it, will it still work for the 60D?Bill G : It will. I use the adapter from Fotodiox. Since the lens is the sharpest at F8, I also purchased an adjustable ND filter.Bill G : It will. I use the ones adapter from Fotodiox, which works very well.ANDREW R : Yes, this should mount if you have the proper adapter. Bear in mind that metering will need to be done as "stop-down" and focus will be purely manual. Due to the need for optical correction to allow infinity focussing with an adapter, image quality may be compromised.

Good inexpensive wide angle lens

I bought this lens for landscapes, kid shots and family group photos. Since I was able to buy it for less then $ I was a bit sceptical to say the least. However, I have found that is actually quite a good value. I have used it to take some family photos and to do some landscape photography. I'm sure that the fact that it was priced so inexpensively created a bit of bias against it in my mind, but when I did some side by side comparisons against my Pentax kit zoom and another, older, wide angle zoom I own, I found that the pictures taken by this lens were visibly superior. The pictures had more clarity and better color then the other zooms. As with a lot of wide angle zooms, you will need to be careful about shooting into the sun since this lens does exhibit strong lens flare in those circumstances. On the negative side, the build quality does not inspire great confidence. I've owned it for about 3 months and I've had not problems at all with it, but I've not abused it either. However, given the price, if it holds up well for another couple of years I will definitely feel that I have gotten my money's worth. If you are not interested in breaking the bank, but you would enjoy a good, wide angle zoom with good image quality, then this is definitely the lens for you. If you are a pro, or semi-pro, who uses their lenses hard, then you may want to find something with a little better buid quality.
