It's not a proper 1.33x Stretch as advertised...

First off, I also own the Anamorphot-50, and in Final Cut Pro I stretch it to 135% to get it proper. However, the Anamorphot-40 has to be stretched to 124% to achieve the proper image, and since it doesn't reach the left & right edges at that point, you then have to increase the overall zoom to 135% to match the rest of the proper Anamorphic footage/ratio. Not a huge problem, but definitely isn't as advertised, and you do loose some of the top & bottom image from the secondary 11% zoom/crop increase. As for the flares, I'm very happy with the outcome. The Anamorphot-40 is mounted to my Lumix 20mm Pancake. Very minimal vignetting in the corners, like virtually non-existent, but that gets eliminated from the zoom/crop I mentioned earlier. No vignetting on the Lumix 25mm or the Lumix 30mm Macro, obviously. Bottom line, I don't regret buying it...I love the BLUE flares. My Anamorphot-50 is slightly sharper, however, produces subtle YELLOW-GREEN flares. So it's nice to have options.

The Budget Filmmakers "Anamorphic Adapter" (Compact) 40 1.33x

Good anamorphic adapter, the stretch factor is really 1.22x rather than 1.33x, the oval bokeh is not present with this lense, really great blue lense flares , autofocus works fairly well, would recommend using a good sharp lense with good contrast or a camera with good resolution do overcome the slight softness of this anamorphic adapter, good lense to start off into the world of anamorphics cheers from Sid The Jet from YouTube!

GREAT PRICE RANGE AND ADAPTER FOR THE ANAMORPHIC LOOK!

Great beginner adapter for the anamorphic look. It doesn’t have the oval bokeh but it is still a fun and great adapter to play with once you get the hang of it. I definitely recommend a diopter for close up shots.

Solid choice for intro to Anamorphic

You get what you pay for, just make sure your taking lens fits their specifications, otherwise your picture quality degrades horribly. Focus isn’t quite as close for practical use but those flares make up for it haha

Solid Product

It's a solid build as expected and a fun way to start getting into anamorphic video at a low cost.

It's a solid build as expected and a fun way to start getting into anamorphic video at a low cost.

The SLR MagicAnamorphot-40 1.33x Anamorphic Adapter enables you to capture footage with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio on your camera with a 16:9 sensor. This results in an image that out of the camera will look distorted, as if your subjects were stretched taller and thinner than normal. This is easily correctedin post with virtually any modern NLE, creating an image suitable for viewing onwide-screen. SLR Magic recommends that the Anamorphot-40 1.33x be used with 40mmor longer focal-length lenses that have a front element that is physically no larger than 40mm in diameter.

The Anamorphot-40 features adjustable focus marked normal and near. The near adjustment allows you to focus on subjects 2' away; setting the adapter to normal allows you to focus on subjects from 3' to infinity. The Anamorphot-40 mounts to lenses with a non-rotating front and a 52mm front filter thread. This adapter is compatible with full-frame and APS-C camera sensors, and with both automatic and manual focus lenses.
