When I first got the monitor 4 years ago, it was pretty good. Great colors & viewing angles, with 144Hz and FreeSync Premium support. It was great for both work and gaming so I definitely couldn't complain at the time. However, the production of these monitors seemed to be plagued with QC issues and manufacturing defects. Almost a year later, DisplayPort connectivity negotiation started getting extremely spotty on wake/sleep and the screen started coming unglued from the body of the display on the bottom, leading to part of the screen flattening out and pushing out over the lip of the bezel. The good news was I was able to send the monitor in and they fixed the bezel issue and seemed to at least *reduce* the DisplayPort problems I was having. While annoying, it wasn't anywhere as frequent as before and could normally be mitigated with a quick port swap back and forth on the GPU and at least my screen wasn't at risk of coming completely unglued and falling off. Not that someone should have to worry about that in the first place when paying roughly $1K for a monitor back in 2020. The bad news is, 3.5 years later I am now experiencing the same horizontal lines issue everyone else is having. It is more pronounced on the left side of the monitor but is starting to get worse after just a day. The fact that this issue seems so widespread seems to indicate either a design flaw or bad parts were used in their manufacture. For the price paid for this monitor it should not be dying after 3-4 years! That is just unacceptable. If this is the level of quality one can expect from LG I'd steer clear.

Grey screen of Death. I purchased the monitor new in 2019 because it had been rated one of the top monitors during that period and it died in 2021. I checked and found out it had a very short warranty for life of the product, perhaps the shortest LG has every put on a monitor. I was doing my taxes and saw the grey lines starting at the top. I quickly printed the taxes and the monitor went to grey vertical lines across the screen within 30 minutes. I don't recommend LG monitors because of this experience and I am the computer nerd in the family. The monitor is sitting in storage because I had imagined repairing it one day. However it now seems it would be putting good money after a bad experience and it appears to be a design flaw that is causing the issue, ie. pushing the ribbon cable beyond its capacity to withstand the heat produced and the bend at the bottom of the screen. Perhaps prolonged high current. I don't want to waste more money on it. However I hate to see it go to the landfill.

Very bad quality control. Monitor first broke down last year with horizontal lines and buzzing sound. LG told me to sent it to get serviced only to get a 1076,88? invoice. Thankfully LG said they can pay everything, except the transport, wich was 140?. Year from that and the monitor has the same lines and buzzing sound again. I have paid almost 1400? and this thing just keeps breaking and now LG customer support here in Finland told me that they are not going to fix it or compensate anything.

I'm honestly heartbroken. I bought this monitor when it came out, in 2017. It was a special order that I had to import from the US, since it wasn't for sale in Canada. Not even 80 days later, the monitor was shattered while in transport in its original box, because of bad packaging design, that placed a stress-point right on the middle of the screen. I hauled the screen in to the LG Canada Headquarters, and showed them the issue with the box design, and they were kind enough to replace the screen for me. Now, though, several years later, this second monitor has also died, this time from the same horizontal scan-line and buzzing issue others have reported. And of course, the service centers that LG directed me to say it cannot be repaired, since the parts are no longer available. So, as another user here put it, I now have a $1600 Paperweight. Yes, really, that's how much it cost me after the importing and whatnot. I do not have the money to buy a new monitor, I do not have the money to replace this one, and now I'm out of a computer entirely because of LG's bad thermal management design. I don't know what to do, and I'm heartbroken.

I need to share others opinion. My monitor had to replace twice the display as first time Dead Pixels apeared, later just black lines on the screen. But all was managed within Warranty. Literally just 1-2 month after Warranty ending, anomalies and not understandable things happend. Now grey lines... But I also had flickering issues too but luckily that disapeared - time being. I have expected a little bit longer lifecycle. What about economy dear LG ? Such a displays for 3-4 year...

The monitor was honestly amazing for the first 3 years, I bought it from Overclockers UK in June 2020, but it has now succumbed to the same fate as the rest of the reviews... scanlines and flickering... Oh and the warranty is only 3 years, so yay, it's a £800 paperweight now.

Monitor failed with horizontal lines. This seems to be a well known issue with these monitors failing outside of the warranty period and LG does not help unless you pay for repairs. I will not be buying or recommending any LG products going forward.

I'm in the same situation as several other reviewers: gray lines suddenly appeared, indicating that ribbon cable has melted/burned and it is only a matter of time before it worsens and the monitor becomes completely unusable. This is the second LG product that has failed after a couple years. It seems that their designs are not built to last.

Bought this monitor September 2020, used as my main monitor on my PC. Just 30 minutes ago (Aug 2023) it decided to overheat and a couple of sparks later, the monitor was giving me scanlines like the other negative reviews are showing. Thank god I was around when this happened, else my apartment building would have caught on fire. I see there are thorough inspections and reviews done by professional tinkerers who were able to tell that the issue with these monitors is that the ribbon cable connecting the panel to the board melts because of internal heat, and the ribbon cable is not a replaceable part as it is directly wired to both parts. I am highly dissatisfied with LG's quality control.

When I got the monitor it was beautiful. The colors were vivid and had everything I wanting in a monitor for gaming and work. It was great for about a little over 2 years. Then the horizontal lines showed up. It would self correct after a few minutes. It did that for about a year. Then one day the horizontal lines got ready bad and it did not self correct. The screen is not usable anymore. It is now just a very expensive paper weight. When you buy something this pricey you expect it to last for a long time. I'm so disappointed with LG. It was my go to company for good products. But after this monitor and a cell phone I had of theirs. I can not trust that I will get a good product that will last.

After two years and some change the monitor just broke. I just got back from a deployment and go to turn my pc on and it's fine. A few hours later go back and the screen just flickers on and off.

Like others have mentioned this model is poorly designed (I hope, because the alternative is planned obsolescence) and there's an extremely high chance of a flex cable melting, causing at first faint horizontal grey lines, and then buzzing with major visual artifacts. Don't leave this monitor unattended. Major fire hazard.

I was adjusting the monitor tilt extremely gently last week as I have done frequently and the monitor was completely fine with no issues. I then went to go answer the door and when I returned the monitor had a huge grey bar down the middle ! I am now just outside of warranty (very convenient timing for LG to make their products last) and so I am better off buying a new monitor than fixing it and need to do this asap as I need it for work. Very disappointing, life's not good when you buy from LG

Absolutely unacceptable that a high end monitor with such a high price tag could start failing after just 3 years of moderate use. I bought this monitor in 2020 and as of January 2023 my monitor has started to show horizontal lines across the entire screen. After doing some searching online and having read the reviews here it appears to be a common panel issue with their monitor. I reached out to LG about the issue despite being outside the warranty and they expected me to pay hundereds of ££, almost half of what I originally paid for the monitor for it to get sent off to be looked at. Obviously there was no way I was going to do that as there's no grauntee it won't happen again and if I'm going to spend silly amounts of money on a repair I might aswell go and buy a new one! My advice to anyone considering buying this monitor is to not bother, you'll just be wasting your money.

when the monitor worked it was a great product. then, just outside the 2 year warranty (which is less than the standard offered by alternative suppliers) the monitor died with the classic scan-line, horizontal line issue. no picture is displayed. and LG no longer offer any repair service themselves outside of warranty. so you've effectively bought an expensive paperweight. this is a well known issue with this monitor now! but wasnt when I bought it.

Monitor has been great up until this defect became visible, apparently after X amount of use, the monitor develops these black horizontal lines. Ultimately, it becomes more and more visible.

Great monitor BUT the issue with horizontal lines is just unacceptable. The price point was way too high to tolerate such a technical failure just after 2000 hours and 3 yrs of moderate usage. I am disgusted with LG and definitely not buying their monitor until I get some feedback they had put some effort to eliminate such issues in the future...

I have enjoyed this product for 4 years, but today, it just died with the horizontal line issue and the display on the screen squished up to the to 1/8" of the screen. I would have expected more than 4 years from a monitor at this price point.

Unfortunately mine broke. Twice. Once a week after the warranty expired - still got it repaired under warranty but had to do without one for 6 weeks or so. A year later, constant horizontal flickering lines. This is just unacceptable, so sick of tech that's not built to last.

This monitor catches fire / fails regularly and this user is the only one who has been offered a free repair outside of warranty. Mine works, but for how long?

Fantastic monitor when it was working. Great size, color, and features. I also really appreciated its design restraint in a time of "Gamer Monitors". About a few weeks outside of its year warranty, faint horizontal lines appeared. The lines eventually got worse until the screen is entirely black and unusable. Its now a completely unusable paperweight. TL:DR Please do not disregard the other reviews. This monitor has serious quality issues and should be avoided at all cost. Mine died after 13 months of ownership.

All features are easy to use and the packaging was great. I've been using this monitor over a year and have had no defects. HDR and Freesync works well with my 5700xt. IPS colors look great, but my only gripe was the blacklight bleed seen on both sides along the bottom. After the first weekend this was no longer noticeable except in very dark scenes. Purchased another LG monitor for my wife based on my experience with this one.

Like everyone else mine is dead with the horizontal line problem. It starts with a bunch of little grey lines running across your screen and ends with a completely dead screen. Mine lasted right around 3 years, which is a joke considering I have side monitors right next to it that are 10 years old and cost me a fraction of the price. Do a quick google search for "LG 34GK950F-B horizontal lines" and see how many results you get. Stay Away.

Not happy with the product quality for the same reason as the majority of the users (horizontal scanlines/lines across the screen). Bought this monitor bit more than 2 years ago and had it repaired twice (once after around 3 months and another time after bit more than one year) already. That I have the same issue a third time now is a clear evidence that it is a product issue as such; repairs do not solve the issue. I wonder if there is anything which can be done do get it repaired, replaced or compensated. This simply shows the bad quality control of LG - should have never been sold with that issue. I suggest to refrain from buying this monitor and I personally will avoid any LG Monitors (or other brands using LG panels) in the future.

I have owned this monitor for just over two years. I was pleased with this monitor until it recently developed horizontal lines. I initially thought this to be a cable or driver issue, but after changing out cables & reinstalling drivers, I learned from internet research that this is a common issue with this monitor. This defect is disappointing, to say the least, given the price paid for this monitor at the time of purchase.

I bought my Monitor on Feb 22nd 2020 new from Microcenter. Overall it?s been pretty good, though I have had some issues with HDR and FreeSync. But recently I started gettimg the light gray scan lines like others have noted. For a monitor this expensive to die RIGHT after the warranty period is incredibly frustrating. I always thought LG was the ?best? but I can?t say I?ll buy another LG display after this one.

The monitor was great and did everything it advertised well (except the HDR). I wish it had more of a bezel (an odd thing to say nowadays), because I think the monitor would still be working today if it had one. The only reason the monitor no longer works is really my fault, my cat decided to bite the edge of the screen and the screen had various issues afterwards. Everything was great until that happened so well done LG.

I bought this monitor and then sent it for repairs after a year. Refurbished unit came back and after 4 months I had horizontal lines on my unit again.

Worked OK for a while, never great HDR, but it was tolerable. Lots of glare due to matte finish. Ultimately it started to develop black "scanlines" and now it's completely glitching out and dying after three years. Do not recommend LG ultrawide.

Freesync works perfectly with my RTX 2080ti
By GabeR
This was an upgrade from a 32in 1440p 32GK650F-B which also worked perfectly with nvidia cards. But the color to me is far more intense on this new screen. HDR is what it is, currently fairly useless in games IMHO. But he response time and input lag seem extremely low. 3440x1440 @ 144hz is awesome. I just wished there was a 38" version that does 3820x1600 @ 144hz.

I am upgrading from an LG 34UC97 60hz,IPS panel. I have used the new LG 34GK950F-B for about 100 hours so far and have the following pro’s and cons: PRO’s -The 400 nit brightness panel might not be of much use for HDR but my god the brightness vs my old 34” IPS panel is stunning. -I was prepared to be underwhelmed with the NANO IPS panel as I already had a very good IPS panel. My god was I wrong, the colors are incredible. Not quite as good as my OLED or QLED tv’s but stellar vs a TN, VA or s...
