This is going to be fun!

I just received this lens and took a few snaps to see what it was like. It takes a bit to get used to a manual lens, but it's not exactly a hardship. This lens has a good, smooth feel to it and reminds me of my old FD lenses for my Canon AE1. I bought this lens Used from Adorama in E condition. I can't imagine what E+ would be like because there is not a mark on this lens. The few pictures I've taken so far show me a bright sharp image that I have a tendency to stick my fingers into. Gotta learn better habits. This lens is affected a lot by the white balance setting. On AWB it works well. I can't wait to take some night skies!

Loving the non-distorted fisheye look and reach

Have enjoyed using this lens for the past few weeks, both indoors and out. Delivers a sharp photo at any setting. Have always loved shooting with fisheye lenses and with this lens I still get that wide look without the distortion. Using it on my Sony A7RII camera...photographing cars, scenery, inside rooms....it's always on this camera so can grab it quickly while out shooting....

New to fish eye lenses

Still getting used to trying to shoot with a fish eye lens, but so far the images are pretty clean as far as I can tell. Looking forward to getting out and giving it a proper test soon.

fun to use. nice build, sharp in center but soft edge with chromatic aberration

this is a very nice lens. soild build, when shooting with f3.5 and above the central image is sharp. but the edge is very soft and have strong Chromatic aberration. the lens resolutions is fair on A7R AIV. I believe this lens is not designed for mirrorless camera. the length of EF mount is significant longer then DSLR mount. But anyway, this lens is pretty good to create dramatic effect. and you can have a lot of fun by using it.

Great value and sharp

Short learning curve with the manual focus and the EVF. However the glass is very sharp and performs as required for professional use. The price point was excellent and it will serve the purpose well until Sony releases their own version.

Excellent lens for the money!

Hell! This is an excellent lens at *twice* the price! I was missing a decent wide angle lens since I jumped to a full-frame sensor, but I saw this on Adorama and started doing some research. A lot of folks really liked this lens, so I thought I'd give it a shot! And I'm not disappointed! The chip really makes this lens! I can shoot Pro and all I have to do is focus! It's great!

Great for the price

Great for the price. I am not using this everyday so I am happy with quality. A lot cheaper than Nikon.

Great lens for little money.

This Ken's works fabulously on my 6D. Wonderful perspectives. Easy to straighten in post. Did not work so well on the EOS R.

Excellent design but a little soft in sharpness

Low distortion for a fisheye lens, but not as sharp as my medium and long focal length lenses. Attached photo (straight from Nikon D800 camera, not edited) looks ok full frame, but magnify any portion of it and see image is not sharp. Focus confirmation very useful. Design flaw of manufacturing flaw for this one item?

A remarkable bargin

This lens is very compact and fit perfectly on my Nikon. I appreciate the included depth-of-field scale. The construction is very good and matches any third party lens I've used. I like the images that can be converted into ultra wide angle look-a-likes with appropriate software. The barrel distortion is only really obvious at the extreme edges of the frame.

Worked well for some astro photography at the sand dunes.

The Samyang 12mm F2.8 Fisheye Lens for Nikon F Mount with AE Chip is a bright, super wide-angle lens designed especially for full-frame cameras. The Samyang 12mm fisheye is a manual lens, with manual focus. It offers a diagonal angle of view of 180 degrees on a full frame (24 x 36mm format) sensor. In terms of the optics, it is one of the most advanced "fisheye" lenses. With excellent build and optical construction, it features 12 lens elements arranged in 8 groups including three elements made of low dispersion ED glass and two aspherical lens elements ensuring perfect image depth and minimizing chromatic aberration.

It features highly effective NCS nanocrystal anti-reflection coating applied together with standard UMC coatings. It provides great focus, high contrast and natural color reproduction even shooting wide open it is an excellent lens for use in in diverse lighting conditions. Fisheye lenses are popular for special effects use where distortion, exaggerated perspective or extreme depth of field are desired. It is also capable of producing panoramas and 360 virtual tours, including full 360 degree images with use of various third party software, available from other vendors. It features a removable lens hood.
