I have a Nikon pistol grip II attached to a Novoflex shoulder pod which served me well with my F3 and F4 I wanted to use it with my D2x so I bought the adaptor. It does what it's intended to do. Well made. Not as large as it looks in the photos so isn't in the way of anything. I used a Velcro cable strap to mount it to the stock which keeps it tucked nicely out of the way. Just make sure you screw the connectors in tightly other wise the camera will focus but not trip the shutter. This may not bee the neatest installation but it works well for me without those cables catching on things.

Works well combined with an ar-10 and a br4 attached to a pb-4 bellows. I connected it to my D300s. I did find that you need to either put an extension to provide more room between the camera body and the bellows or wait and attach this after attaching the camera to the bellows and rotating it back to landscape mode.
