I bought this to connect a microphone to the cold shoe where it wouldn't block the screen on my a6400. It worked great for that, but I've since decided to use an external mic. But I'm absolutely keeping this rig attached anyway. It adds a more positive grip for my big hands and provides a lot of protection to the camera body. I didn't notice this for a week or so - but the design of the bottom section will plug right into my ball head mount without the need for a plate. All the attachment point options for accessories are very nice. My only gripe is that my fingers hit the lens due to the larger grip. But I'm using a fat lens most of the time and it's still a better experience than the tiny camera grip.

Overall a really good foundation for building a rig around your a6400. Plenty of mounting points, great feel in hand, and doesn't add too much weight. I only have a couple gripes. First is that the handle comes a little close to larger lenses, such as my 70-200 Sony G lens. It winds up pinching my fingers a little when I use it with that lens. Second is that they should have made the cage extend out a little further on the left side. Depending on what you attach to the left side, you may run into issues with clearance for stuff like your mic input or HDMI out (even with right angle plugs). These are honestly things SmallRig should go back and fix, considering they're fairly minor tweaks to fix rather annoying issues. 4 stars, since it does work as intended, and the build quality is good, but could use a little revising to make it better for more setups.
