The Sigma 105mm F1.4 Art lens truly lives up to its reputation as the 'Bokeh Master'. The sharpness is impeccable, and it performs exceptionally well in various lighting conditions, making it a superb choice for both professional and enthusiast photographers alike. The quality of bokeh produced by this lens is nothing short of artistic, with smooth transitions that enhance portrait photography beautifully. However, my overall satisfaction with the purchase was marred by the customer service experience at Adorama when I attempted to price match this lens with a lower price I found on Amazon shortly after my purchase. The process was unexpectedly cumbersome, characterized by what felt like intentional delay tactics and a somewhat passive-aggressive attitude that was quite off-putting. This experience left a lot to be desired and raised concerns about making significant purchases from Adorama in the future. While the product itself is fantastic, potential buyers might want to consider their options for where to make such a significant investment, based on customer service responsiveness and support

I've owned this for a number of years now and it's still a beast. This lens has held up over the years and is just as sharp as the day I first placed on my Sony camera.

This lens has produced outstanding photos in some challenging conditions, and feels very well built. Although the lens is heavy, it is easily managed with the attached accessory shoe (tripod / monopod - shoe)

Everyone knows this lens needs to go on a diet, so I won't say anything else about that part. We're using it in large catholic churches, attached to a Canon R7. What this effectively does is give us 170mm of reach BUT with 2 full stops of light MORE than you'd get on the RF 70-200. It is a game changer. I really don't use it that much at a reception, because my RF 28-70 is hard to turn away from, once I have off camera flash, but for what I do use it for, nothing can touch it.

By far the best portrait lense I own. The weight isn't much more than the 24-70 f2.8 art lense so it's not a problem for me.

I have been shooting with sigma glass for some time now and the 105mm f/1.4 is my absolute favorite. I have used this lens for almost everything, such as automotive, nature, wildlife, landscape and portraits, and it?s just amazing across the board. Whether you shoot wide open or stop it down, every shot comes out ridiculously sharp with excellent color rendering. After shooting my first portraits with this lens, it immediately became my favorite portrait lens. I quickly seen why so many deem it the bokeh master.

I'm over-the-moon with this lens! The "bokeh-king" is an appropriate and worthy title of this amazing glass. I'm thrilled to now be an owner of one and you will be, too!

This is my first sigma lens and very happy with it. It is heavy compare to my Nikon 135 f2.0 dc lens which also my favorite portrait lens. I'm a hobbyist but when it comes to equipment I always go to the best as long as I can afford it.

Hi I bought mine last week at your store on the internet it looked like it was a used in good condition but when I came into the store to trade in my 120-300mm F2.8 DG HSM OS lens I heard it is an open box model so it was new not used and got a great price so I am happy with the deal I am now back in South America and fine tuned during my stay in NYC only by the feel and luck I forgot to buy the Sigma USB dock for F mount and sensor swabs to buy but I can do that by the internet soon. so I do recomendate this Bokeh master but it needs fine tuning . More than happy .it is sharp as hell or what ever you want to call it.

Have enjoyed the lens so far! It is a little heavy but able to hold and shoot without it being a problem. Can get a really narrow depth of field which is nice. Focuses quickly. No complaints.

This lens is exactly what all the other reviews say....it’s huge, heavy, slightly unruly on mirrorless cameras.....but man does it deliver!!! This thing is nice and sharp at f1.4, blows away backgrounds better than even our 135 f1.8 Zeiss I feel, but it’s size can make you think twice about using it in the first place. Using eye af with this thing works pretty well too, seems to stick well. It really seems to be high quality in build and glass and will give you high quality results. Just know what you’re buying (or have a good idea of the size and weight) and you will be very happy with this. Gives a rendering and feel unlike a lot of modern lenses, smooth, interesting bokeh, sharp wide open. What’s not to like?! Weaklings be forewarned.....

Words fall short so included five snapshots. Many years ago when I started into photography, I enjoyed the Nikon 105mm manual focus lenses on my Nikon F (non meter prism) body. Today, I rarely use them. They have been replaced by the Sony a7III and this Sigma 105mm lens. if you are considering this lens of course take into account the weight (like a bottle of wine) and size. In my case I was used to heavy lens like 500mm 4.0 and 600mm 4.0 telephotos so that was not a problem. But for a ...

Dream lens. Nightmare on weight over time, but dream come true for images captured. To mitigate the weight I purchased a Small Rig carrying handle to attach to the tripod mount. This makes it easier to carry. Filters can be expensive. Surprisingly good for close up images.
Introducing the "bokeh master" featuring incredible resolution and designed for full-frame sensors, this is the longest focal length of the Art line's F1.4 lenses .
Leading the way in F1.4 brightness
Since introducing its first SIGMA Global Vision F1.4 lens in 2012, the 35mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art, SIGMA has been adding wide-aperture F1.4 options to the lineup. Now, with the introduction of the new 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art, SIGMA offers a total of nine lenses with F1.4 brightness, including six for full-frame cameras and three for APS-C cameras. SIGMA has designed all of these lenses to offer minimal optical aberration and deliver incredible resolution and stunning contrast. Boasting the longest focal length of the F1.4 Art line lenses, the new lens combines outstanding resolution with a beautiful bokeh effect. Designed with great care to ensure that both the in-focus and out-of-focus areas of the photograph are equally satisfying to the eye, this lens is truly a "bokeh master." The SIGMA 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art has earned its place as the flagship of the F1.4 Art line lenses, prioritizing image quality above all to fulfill the promise of the line, delivering truly amazing optical performance.
Optical system delivering unsurpassed F1.4 performance
In order to combine outstanding wide-aperture, mid-telephoto performance with F1.4 brightness at maximum aperture, this lens incorporates 17 optical elements in 12 groups an uncommonly large number of elements for a prime lens. By including three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and one aspherical lens element, the optical system minimizes axial chromatic aberration to deliver extremely high resolution along with ample peripheral light volume. The area in focus is extremely sharp, while the area out of focus features a beautiful bokeh effect with highly natural colors, making this lens a powerful choice for portrait photography. The optical system also minimizes sagittal coma flare, making this lens excellent for capturing starry skies.
Exceptional peripheral brightness
The most effective method of ensuring ample light is to maximize the diameter of the first element of the optical system. With its large filter diameter of 105mm, the SIGMA 105mm F1.4 DG HSM / Art delivers a significantly greater volume of peripheral light than other lenses in its class. Minimizing vignetting while offering a beautiful bokeh effect, this lens is ideal for portrait photography.
Professional specifications
Like SIGMA's Sports line lenses, the 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art features a highly effective dust- and splash-proof structure with special sealing at the mount connection*, manual focus ring, cover connection, and other areas, allowing photographers to work in all types of weather. In addition, the front of the lens is protected by a water- and oil-repellent coating that makes cleaning easy. The high-speed, high-accuracy autofocus helps photographers react in an instant to get those special shots.
Ease-of-use specifications
Instead of conventional ABS plastic, the exclusive lens hood features CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic), a light but strong material used in the interior and exterior fittings of aircraft, among many other applications. The removable Arca-Swiss tripod socket is compatible with Arca-Swiss platforms and clamps, and its exclusive protective cover makes the lens easier to carry and use when shooting hand-held.
