I think this camera has gotten a very unfair rap on with the camera review youtube community. Part of this may be due to Panasonic themselves positioning the camera incorrectly in the market. Part of it also is bias towards the "micro-four thirds is dead" sentiment. But after using the camera for about 9 months, here are my thoughts. Pros - super small and compact, esp for an interchangeable lens camera - really great out of the box images with automatic and scene modes - kit lens is sharp and optically stabilized - lots of fun modes to play around with, like slo mo, focus stacking, etc - focus tracking for video is much better than previous Lumix cameras - still photo focusing is very reliable and fast - in camera charging - built in flash - decent 360 mics - flippy screen, and optical viewfinder - decent handling and usability, remappable buttons and controls, easy to nav menus Cons - micro USB, not strong enough to charge and use at the same time - no weather sealing (but at this price point, forgivable) - if you're pixel peeping, 20 megapixels is prob not going to make you happy - continuous auto focus for video is not as good as Sony or other crop sensor systems - can have extreme crop when shooting 4K video with hybrid stabilization - not a lot of manual control dials/surfaces I think the camera excels as a secondary M43 body for travel if you're already invested in the system. If you're just starting out, I think it's also a great choice as it's very easy to get good results without having to resort to edit RAW files or color grading video. The M43 lens selection is pretty amazing, esp if you hunt for used gear. I would say as a walk and talk vlogging camera, it works best at 1080p, with medium hybrid stabilization enabled. I wouldn't really use this for handheld 4K vlogging unless you were able to get the 9mm Leica lens (which is fantastic).

While the Lumix G100 is marketed as a vlogging camera, I bought it for its versatility. I want to take quality photo's and shoot short videos. I am not a camera expert- just a dude who wants something better than my phone. The pros for me include *Compact size * Easy to use * Versatility Cons: * Battery life is short and I struggle to find a way to use an external power source so that I can keep shooting with out charging the battery * The lens it comes with is weak and slow. Fine for blogging but if I want to use it for something else it such as take on Safari it wouldn't do. My phone camera has better zoom. *I am new to photography, I find I can easily put it on settings that I don't want like it taking 7 pictures when I just want 1. My experience is limited so I do not have much to compare the G100 to but knowing what I know now, I would have bought a step up from this camera maybe the G7. However, the package deal through Adorama I thought was great with the extras
