Fantastic
I've used the older Quadra A-head system for a few years and debated about upgrading. I upgraded for Elinchrom's hi-sync system. The unit is a bit smaller, lighter and a better user interface now. This thing really rocks, I love it. For me it's a great light because I use this instead of speed lights the majority of the time. Plus, you're now in the Elinchrom system so you can use the fantastic modifiers they make and you have a reliable radio control.
Dead battery b
The used department is great, but I'm returning this due to a dead battery.
This set includes the new Transmitter Plus which offers simplicity, durability and reliability with the range now extended up to 200 m (656'). Choose the Quadra Action head set when flash duration is crucial and you want to freeze your subject's motion within the limits of the camera flash sync (X-sync) speed. The new ProTec Location bag safely carries the ELB 400 and accessories and it can be can customized and reconfigured to fit the equipment.
The ELB 400 is the most complete and portable flash system. Specifically designed for photographers who like to travel light but packing enough power to overpower the sun. The best flash duration is at full power where you need it when you are out on a sunny location.

Pro Head
The Pro flash head offers a slower flash duration compared to the Action head but it is faster compared to the HS head. At full power on an ELB 400, the Pro head offers at t0.5 a flash duration of 1/1200th second. For Still-Life and portraits or where the subject is not moving, this is a fast enough flash duration for sharp images. But if the subject is moving then this flash duration will not be fast enough to stop the motion of the subject at normal flash sync shutter speeds, i.e. at 1/250th second or below.
Large sensors, with mechanical parts for the shutter and the mirror, as well as the camera firmware and the chosen shutter speed will affect the results. Mirrorless cameras can handle Hi-Sync very well. If you don't shoot action and only want to buy one flash head that can work with Hi-Sync to some degree and also create nice sharp portraits, then the Pro head is a good option.
