This is my second Pentax K200D. My first is still going strong. I'd alwsys wanted a second camera I could setup only for my astrophotography and this was in the right place at the right time.

It replaced a Pentax istDL, so it's a step up of about 3 years in technology for me. I don't mind that it's still 3-4 years old; it has all the stuff I need, and I didn't have to read much to get started with it.

all my old Takumars fit the mount and work fine manually.

The LCD screen on the top of the body is excellent. Didn't think I would use it much when I bought the camera but I find myself using it all the time. Build quality is brilliant and I love the fact it is weatherproofed. It has already proven itself at the top of the Cairngorm ski resort! Pentax has produced a superb camera for the money. I'm so glad I didn't just follow like a sheep to the Canon or Nikon counter because I think the K200d is far better than similar offerings from the big guys.

I love the easy operations and the great pictures it takes. I upgraded from the Pentax K100D just for the higher megapixels. With the RAW button on the front of the camera allows you to shoot in RAW and have a JPEG also. Unlike the K100D, it automatically rotates your vertical pictures.

I bought this camera last spring and I have not regretted it in anyway. The build is superb, it feels great in my hand, unlike similarly priced models from the others. The weather sealing ROCKS, I can hike with it slung over my shoulder and not worry about a drizzle killing my camera. I do lots of long exposure on tripod stuff and my K200D does great with that too. Best of all, any old Pentax K-Mount lens will fit and work just fine. Bottom Line: Great camera, tons of features. (Real ones that real photographers want, not the gimmicky stuff)I LOVE my camera!!!

OK, I don't know squat about cameras but after reading reviews I decided on this as an upgrade for my wife. She was using a Sony point and shoot. She's thrilled to death and that's all that matters. I've taken a few pictures with it and it was easy for me to figure out.

Used on boats so I like the water-resistant construction, also easy to use and a good manual is provided.

I purchased this camera because I was tired of the image quality from my digital point and shoot cameras. I had considered other DSLR makes but when I found out that the lenses from my old Pentax film SLR would work on the new Pentax DSLR.. my choice was made. After handling other DSLR cameras I like the solid feel of the Pentax.. The pictures I have taken with this new camera are far beyond my expectations ... I feel my money was well spent on the camera and the fact that I could utilize my old equipment makes it that much better deal.. I look forward to taking many photos...
