Photo Rotate Feature Id A Joke

Camera not bad. The AUTO ROTATE feature is the worst and a complete joke. Difficult for Canon employees to understand, so I'll try and explain: One can just physically rotate the camera. Software FORCES camera view to rotate to get majority of items in photo. Pretty arrogant to assume picture taker WANTS to rotate photo. Use your phone.

AMAZING!

I have owned this camera for almost a year, and it has done an amazing job! It works very well, and I have been able to capture moments in time! I also Discovered that if you put the camera into the "Miniature" effect, and then take a video, it creates a time-lapse! This is a really great camera, and I love it so much!

Compact camera takes great pictures

Very happy with this point and shoot camera. We couldn?t get it on Amazon and only one was available in Target, and I needed two, for two of my campers. It?s kind of small, so a little nervous about how it will hold up for my very active boys, but will see what happens. Pictures look really nice and my boys are very happy. Also my son loves red, so this is great. Only thing is that I paid for two day shipping and it took a week to arrive. I realize that it said two day shipping after the order was filled, but I didn?t think it would take that long to fill.

Sometimes It Fails When You Need It...

Ok cam for work but fails when needed.... some pic(s come out blurry but you can't see a clear picture of the photo taken on the display as it is too small. The photo just looks like a normal photo until you get it blown-up on a computer.

Palisade Mtn.

Finally able to go into the foot hills and take some photos. I was quite impressed with the simplicity of this camera. And the quality of this compares with my Canon Rebel T7 . The size makes it quite useful as a grab and shoot camera instead of breaking out the larger camera.

Terrible!

Takes dark pictures in conditions less than full sun regardless of what you do to correct them. Also very difficult to set flash to "ON" and will default back to automatic after a few minutes. You can easily change the settings when not intended since the controls are in a place where you would naturally hold the camera. I depend on this camera for business and it really is a disappointment.

A great everyday camera that takes great pictures.

For everyday general point-n-shoot quality photos, this Canon ELPH 180 is a great choice. It is built well, and has more than enough controls to produce quality pictures, or you can just set to Auto, and Canon has it all covered for you in every shot. I highly recommend this camera, unless you want to spend a lot more for a more professional camera, though most pictures will still look similar enough to save the money and buy this one. It is small and compact and easy to take with you everyday and use. It has a date/time code if you want on each picture which a smartphone picture can’t do. That in itself is worth having.

Very Good Deal

The quality is good, it takes good pictures and videos, and the bundle I got was amazing. But buyer beware! It does not come with a micro USB cable. You'll have to purchase that separately.

Super Compact Digital Camera

It is a terrific compact camera. I have used it on a beach vacation and as I am an insurance adjuster I use it as a backup camera. It takes great photos I am impressed with its size, ease of use and quality of the photographs. I would recommend this camera to anyone and I would buy it again it need be.

Unhappy

First was how plastic it felt compared to my old Cannon (which I loved! Have had camera for awhile now. Doesn't get used much, but when I need it, I NEED IT. Make sure battery charged and works at home, get to what I want/need picture of and can't get the camera to turn on (or sometimes off). So frustrating. Pictures good when camera works.

When Register Product

Tried to register: PowerShot ELPH 180 (as printed on Canon Label - RIGHT End of box/product container) - during registration - form asked for Serial Nu which I entered OFF the label: 1093C001 - then hit SUBMIT - came back in RED NOTE - The serial number you have entered is invalid for one or more of the following reasons: 1) The serial number does not match the product you have selected (FCC ID which starts with "AZD" is often mistaken for serial number.) 2) The serial number entered indicates this product was not intended for sale in the United States and is ineligible for registration and support in the U.S. I assure you: that is the number on the label on the RIGHT END of the product box!!!

Great point and shoot camera. Easy to use.

Haven't used it much yet, certainly will when spring arrives. Great little camera for clear shots, wish the color were more accurate in outdoor pics of flowers, etc. Not sure how I can improve it myself.

This really a good camera for me.

I am very happy with this camera. I use to use a Canon EOS 6, but I had to stop due to my health at age 78. I gave ALL of my Canon EOS camera equipment to my granddaughter and she is loving it. By the way, she is only 24, and hopes to take some awarding photos with her Canon EOS. God sure works in wonderful ways, right?

Great value

The reviews surprised me, features people were looking for ARE on the camera, the well written manual explains this. The camera takes nice picture indoors without a flash and nice pictures with the flash on. It's quick to focus, handles outdoor contrast very nicely and the color is very natural. I think this is a great little camera.

FEATURED REVIEWS

My "Professional" camera.

By CAT m.

I'm a traveling catastrophe insurance adjuster and I go through a couple of cameras a year. Climbing onto roofs, into wet basements, and through dusty attics takes a toll on any camera. So, I don't buy an expensive one; I normally get "last year's latest-and-greatest" point-and-shoot Nikon. But, while working a wind storm in the west Detroit suburbs, I slipped and fell from one roof onto another--about 3 feet--and broke the screen on my Nikon Sure Shot. I finished the inspection with my cell ...

Great photos and great value

By Andy99

I don't understand all the negative reviews. For the price this is the best point & shoot camera I have owned. I also don't understand all the reviews complaining about the quality of the photos. I also own a (much more expensive) Canon Rebel T3i DSLR and, when I take photos of the same subject with both cameras and zoom in, I can't see any difference, except slight differences in the colors and brightness. My last ELPH lasted 10 years before the zoom mechanism failed, so it didn't owe me any...

Slim. Stylish. Simple
For those wanting a simple way to capture moments with family, friends and more, the slim, stylish PowerShot ELPH 180 camera has easy-to-use features to help create photos that are as stunning as you want. The 8x Optical Zoom lets you get close to the action, while the 20.0 Megapixel CCD sensor with DIGIC 4+ Image Processor help produce vibrant, clear images to share or print. Take more than just still images, with the ability to record movies at 720p HD. For added convenience, Smart AUTO figures out suitable settings for what you're photographing so you don't have to worry about finding a picture mode yourself. To help reduce the effects of camera shake, Digital IS helps keep blur to a minimum. On top of that, the Auto Zoom feature can automatically close in on your subject and keep it in focus for easy shooting.

8x Optical Zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer helps you capture images with flexibility and ease
The PowerShot ELPH 180 camera features an 8x Optical Zoom so more shots are within your reach. You'll love the flexibility that the wide 28-224mm (35mm equivalent) shooting range offers. Plus, the wide-angle lens captures an expansive image in each shot, adding depth, perspective and grandeur. Landscapes, city scenes, family shots and more benefit from the extra width. Whether you're shooting wide group shots or zooming to the telephoto end, your images will be bright and clear.

20.0 Megapixel Sensor
With the PowerShot ELPH 180 camera's 20.0 Megapixels of resolution, your images are rich and clear, with textures and tiny details faithfully reproduced even at the long end of the 8x Optical Zoom. This high level of resolution can be ideal for creating large prints and allows you the flexibility to blow up and crop any section of an image to express your creativity.

DIGIC 4+ Image Processor
The PowerShot ELPH 180 camera's DIGIC 4+ Image Processor features accelerated processing speed to create fast, responsive performance, giving you a shooting experience that's easy and natural. The DIGIC 4+ Image Processor also enhances image quality in several ways. Processing of high ISO shots has been shortened by up to 60% compared to the DIGIC 4 Image Processor. This helps significantly reduce noise for brilliant color, smooth gradations and beautiful detail even in low light. The processor's highly efficient design also extends battery life.

Capture 720p HD video
Using the slim PowerShot ELPH 180 camera, you can shoot high-definition video when you want, where you want. With a simple push of the dedicated movie button, you'll be able to quickly record moments in motion. 720p HD video is smooth, vivid and beautifully lifelike, making it an ideal way to capture special memories.

Smart AUTO intelligently selects the proper settings based on predefined shooting situations
Getting that great shot can be as simple as pressing the shutter button on the PowerShot ELPH 180 camera. Smart AUTO automatically detects scenes by assessing various factors in both the background and the subject and analyzes them using 32 predefined shooting situations. The camera then makes optimal settings to help facilitate incredible image capture, whether you're shooting stills or video. With Smart AUTO, all you have to do is frame your shot and capture away.

Digital IS helps reduce the effect of camera shake and subject movement
Sometimes even the steadiest of hands can move a little and during night photos or when zoomed in close, even a small shudder can blur a photo. Digital IS on the PowerShot ELPH 180 camera analyzes the image in order to electronically remove blur and fuzzy edges, helping to ensure you get a clear picture.
