This printer is terrible. Do you know what a printer is supposed to do? Whoever is reading this review, you probably know that it is suppose to print, but clearly whoever made it doesn't know. No amount of trouble shooting can make this printer work. Every online tutorial is completely useless. I've changed computers, cords, documents, document type and literally every variable. The only thing that doesn't work is the useless printer.

Pros: Great machine at a very reasonable price. It laser prints automatic double-sided b&w plus lots of printing options, all in a very small package. I rest my laptop on top of it so the footprint is minimal. It must be reasonably close to the computer since it must be connected to the computer with an Ethernet cable. Cons: My only issue is why it prints on both sides of the paper when there is only one page to print. My Brother MFC knows not to do this. Conclusion: This is probably the best deal out there for a b&w laser printer.

I love this Brother HL-L2300D printer! I had just returned two Epson printers that printed well, but needed parts such as an "ink pad" & an "box box replacement" that seemed extraneous to printing, yet were critical & unavailable due to the model being discontinued three years after I bought them! Never again! I am so happy to have found this Brother printer that is compatible with my iMac and prints beautifully with black ink, which is all I wanted!

Owned HL-L2300D for over 5 years. Processed several (10+) cases of Bright White heavy weight printer paper flawlessly. Only benefit to upgrading would be to choose one of the newer models which offer an adjustable LED screen which can be be viewed from either straight on or even below, as I must place the printer/scanner on a shelf at eye level. Must climb up on wheeled chair to view down on fixed upward facing LED screen. Fine for table top, but not for home users with limited desk space.

I want to stay with this model and from what I understand, this is the newer model of the HL2170W. I've had my 2170W for many years, probably close to 10 years and it has been a wonderful orinter. Its fast and print is sharp. Only now am I replacing the drum on it. Brother has the drum at a reasonable price. I should get it today. If anything goes wrong, I'll still purchase a brother printer ???. It's the best printer I've ever had. It is sooooo much better than these inkjet printers. Bravo Brother. p.s. The product is great; the only thing is the check feeder in the front of the machine. It makes the print out sideways, which makes our payment checks look unprofessional. If I put out check on the paper slot, it looks straight.

It was delivered in great packaging but when turned on the paper light continuously flashed. Unable to diagnose over the phone I had to drive an hour to a brother service center. It was replaced with a refurbished unit and had the same issue. Brother covered only 1 with the warranty and did not want the other unit returned

I use Linux Mint Debian Edition OS as well as Linux Mint Standard OS's. Works every time if you load the Brother Linux drivers off the web site. I try to avoid all others printers. Brothers are priced right and they just work. Have installed 3 for others.

Got this because my other printer died. I just needed something simple, no color and small footprint and needed to work with my Mac. This one covered all the bases. It's compact, easy to set up, uses only one large cartridge, black ink only, it's fast and the print quality is excellent and the price was great. I'm am extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this product.

Perfect for my limited printing needs. My cartridges on my previous black/color printer continued to dry out. I was looking for a simple black print only laser printer. This Brother has fulfilled my needs. Easy to install and has been printing like a champ ever since. I haven't had to replace any cartridges yet so cannot rate how that went.

Easy, Simple setup. No unnecessary software. No overt ploys for your money with subscriptions. no egregious requirements to make an online account just to use your printer. I will only be buying brother printers from now on in all offices that i manage IT.

This I a great little printer. My only wish would be a lightning adapter to connect to my iPhone 8. I was able to find a USB-c adapter to connect to my iMac mini. Many gadgets these days no longer have a regular usb port.

The duplex printing, or any printing is faster than larger commercial-grade printers I use at work. For the FIRST print of the day, I've counted between 5-7 seconds from pressing the print button to the printer spooling up. I'm plugged in directly via USB cable. Rarely does someone actually require color, and the laser ink is far economical than ink jet cartridges. No complicated bells and whistles you'll only use once a year, this is a solid DUPLEX laser printer for the home!

This is a great printer. I tell it to print and my two-sided papers come out fast. It was easy to clean the printer and change the tonor. The only problem is that it makes the lights flicker when it turns on. Is it powering up a capacitor and shifting the phase of my wall current? I don't know, but it makes me a bit nervous.

I was looking for an affordable, simple black and white laser printer because I don't print a lot and sometimes go weeks without printing anything. This model looked like exactly what I need, and it was. I also appreciate the fact that the downloads page for drivers has the basic driver listed along with the full software package rather than making you dig around for it.

On recommendation from Staples, I bought a brother HL-L23700W. It is a worthless printer that consistently gets hung up whenever I individually feed a single sheet and try to switch to regular printing. I constantly have to unplug and reset this "printer" that doesn't print to get it to work. I cannot believe that this different model is any better, but only changed the product number to hide the poor performance. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE PRODUCTS
