It's a Nikon----it fits.
It's a Nikon---- it fits---it holds the EN EL4a in place without compatibility issues. It will probably last longer than I will.

It works like it intended to
This is a must have if you use Nikon MB-D10 grip on D300, D300s, or D700. Along with EN-EL4 or 4a, It will make the camera last a long long time.

Saves space, it works
Now I can use one type battery in both D3 and D300 plus I need only one charger to cover both cameras. Bought used from Adorama. Condition was fairly described and priced well. Delivered in about 3 days at the cheapest shipping rate. No complaints here.

Does the job
A little pricey, but necessary to use the EN-EL4 battery in the MBD-10 grip.
Has some little spring clips to grab the EN-EL4 and hold it in place. O-ring on the closure makes the battery compartment water resistant/proof; that's a good thing.
Not sure why it couldn't be included with the grip, seeing as they supplied a sled to use with the EN-EL3 or 8xAA batteries. :(

perfect fit
This fantastic accessory allows the D700/D300 user to augment their MB-D10 into a machine-gun sounding powerhouse. Coupled with the EN-EL4/a battery, this cover will boost you to another level of speed. The jump from 5fps to 8fps is bigger than you might expect. I put it to the test tonight while shooting handheld macro-ish shots in low light. It's not catalog work so I didn't need a flash and not true macro with gobs of DOF. But it was up close work and the added burst speed allows for more keepers.

Quality, just like the Nikon grip.
Since I have the Nikon MB-D10, I decided to just go with the Nikon cover. Not sure if it matters all that much, but the 3rd party covers seemed to be not too much cheaper, so I figured to just go with the genuine article.
It was made for the MB-D10 ... what else can you say about it?
Perhaps a little pricey for what it is, but so is the grip!

A Must For The D700
A must item to use with the D700. Now I can have one type of battery to use with my D3/D700 (EN/EL4-EN-EL4a). I like the soft carrying case to store the BL-3/EN-EL4a as one unit.The BL-3 is little expensive,but worth every dollar.Highly recommend it.

Absolutely a must have
When I bought my new D700 I thought I might be giving up battery life that I had grown accustomed to with my D2x(s). When I bought my D700 I purchased the MBD-10 battery pack to give me the same feel as my D2x(s). After making that purchase I realized that I could purchase this cover so I could use my (extra's) EN-EL4a batteries that I had saved when I traded in my (2) D2x's on my D700 here at Adorama.
What a great purchase. Now I have the flexibility to use the bigger and longer life batteries as well as take off the battery pack for hiking and use the smaller en-el3.
This cover is made of sturdy plastic which doesn't feel cheap. It holds the battery extremely well and locks easily into place. I have been using it for almost 6 months now and have ZERO problems with it.

If you need it, you need it.
I've got one for each of the EN-EL4 batteries I carry around so that I don't have to waste time detaching a spent battery and attaching fresh one when shooting. And it comes with a spiffy padded carrying case that fits the combined BL-3/EN-EL4 unit to prevent damage when it's bouncing around in a bag.
Pricey for what it is and what it does though.

Over priced, but well built.
The price is the only thing holding back the 5th star. I have no idea of the build quality of an after market cover, but the Nikon BL-3 is sturdy and tolerances are tight. My opinion is inline with other reviewers, I believe Nikon should have supplied the BL-3 with the MB-D10. If you want 8 fps without alkaline batteries, the BL-3 is a must. No regrets here!

Necessary for EN-EL4(a) use
This little item is needed for the MB-D10 if you intend to use the EN-EL4 or EN-EL4a battery. You can use the battery pack without this upgraded battery but you won't get the 8 fps speed. I use this on my D300 for nature photography. The increased speed may sound like an unnecessary increase but it can make the difference between capturing the great image or missing it when there's a lot of action. I wasn't sure the increased speed was really important before I got this setup-- now I can't imagine not having it. It's Great!!

Its a needed accessory for the en-el4a battery for the D300 and D700. Maybe overpriced, or better yet it should come with the battery as a kit. I have 2 and have no complaints.

A Must have piece for D300/D700
I also was stunned that this did not come with the MB-D10. Like all Nikon products this feels well built. Also the price, well it is Nikon. I also love the Neoprene Pouch that it comes in. If you own a D300/D700 and want more life out of your camera, both frames per sec and battery life, you need this piece to finish off the upgrade.

BL-3 Battery cover for the Nikon D300
I didn't notice the tiny button on the top that needed to pushed up when inserting the Battery into the BL-3. Once I got the battery attached, the unit worked perfectly.

Not intuitive
It was unclear that this part was necessary to make the D300 fire at 8 fps. Once I got it I had a moments trouble understanding how to connect the battery. No instructions provided.

Should come with MB-D10
This is not a required item for obtaining 8 frames/sec speed with D300. Due to the fact that not many retailers stock this item for a while, I used 8 AA size rechargeable to obtain 8 frames/sec speed on D300. Although I used mostly-trouble free eneloops, maintaing 8 AA batteries are still pain things to do, especially when you are traveling and staying on motel which offers not many AC outlet. So I purchased BL-3, EN-EL4a and MH-21 charger. EN-EL4a is not only lighter than 8 AA batteries, but also has an incredible stamina - can easily take more than 5000 shutter clicks with one charge. If you are sports/aviation shooter and using D300 I highly recommend this item. Personally think [$] for this piece is way too expensive, and I think Nikon should include this parts in MB-D10 package.
