Great Eyepiece. Only minor issue is the short eye relief.

This eyepiece is amazing. The field of view isn't as wide as some of my other eyepieces, but what it lacks in wide field it more than makes up for in clarity. There is nothing but flat images from edge to edge. Stars are pinpoint crisp and planets are colorful. It weighs more than my two other 25mm plossl eyepieces. You pay more for this, but you'll have a lifetime of use from it. It's a buy once and never replace piece. You truly cannot go wrong purchasing this eyepiece.

Love this eyepiece! What's not to like? It's a Tele Vue!! I also have a Tele Vue 32mm Plössl, a Tele Vue 24mm Panoptic, the 18.2mm, 13mm, 7mm Delite eyepieces, a Tele Vue 10mm Radian, 2"/1.25" 2x Powermate, and a Tele Vue Everbrite 1.25 Dielectric diagonal. All of the Tele Vue items I have ordered are top quality and I have not regretted any of these purchases. The saying, "buy once, cry once", really does apply to the Tele Vue eyepieces. Yes, Tele Vue eyepieces are expensive but you really do get what you pay for and they are definitely worth every penny!!

The first object I look at was M-45, it was in the Field of view. I had a wide field 40mm Telvue and it did not show all 7 stars which I compared. The other benefit is a great finder for your scope. I use this as my finder with a red dot finder.

Hello carbon based life forms. i noticed when looking at the 40mm eyepiece that it had 12 reviews? But when i looked at the reviews NONE were for the 40mm. so i decided to rectify this situation. the 40mm Tele Vue eyepiece is a 5 star eyepiece. this is my second one. first on a 9.25 Schmidt. f10 and now on my 5 inch Maksutov. f15. I find any target within the capability of my scope almost instantly with this eyepiece. i rarely use the go to system on my scopes. doing this for 60 years you know where anything worth looking at without it. the 40mm makes it very easy.

What can you say? Tele Vue quality on this Plossl provides great wider-angle views of planets/stars. This is my go-to eyepiece for starting out the evening. You can't go wrong with Tele Vue.

2nd EP for my Astro-Tech AT60ED. I'm a newbie to all this stuff, but this 11mm EP is great! Excellent views!

Not as good of eye relief as the old celestron silver plossl’s but still an excellant image!

I've just gotten back into astronomy after a decade or so of inactivity. This lense works great on both my 10" dobsonian and my 6" SCT. The broader field of view allows full view of Deep Space sightings. I took it and my SCT to the totality region of the solar eclipse. It made viewing great for myself and all the others who rarely if ever looked through a scope. The biggest delight was seeing a vivid set of solar flares raw for the first with my naked eyes. It was awesome. So glad I added this high quality eyepiece.

Nice resolution and good contrast. The short eye relief makes it a bit less comfortable for some uses, but for planets that is not a concern. I have a Celestron CPC 11", and it works well with this f10 instrument.

I use the 55mm Plossl on my 9.25" SCT telescope to get wider field views. I find that the eyepiece produces good contrast and sharp images.

I use the 32mm with my Celestron C8-A SCT, and with my Omni 127 SCT. Great views of the Moon, Saturn, star clusters ... No complaints whatsoever.

I bought this as an "upgrade" to my 25mm GSO Plossl and can tell no difference between the two. I did a side by side comparison on a variety of subjects from bright Jupiter to dim clusters. I could see no difference in: center sharpness, edge sharpness, contrast, flare, ghosting, or ability to resolve threshold objects. The 25mm is supposed to be one of Televue's better Plossls, and it certainly is a good eyepiece, but [to me] no better performance than a Meade/Orion/GSO standard Plossl which can be purchased for around $30. Fit and finish of the Televue is slightly better, but again not worth the extra price. I am using a 72mm ED doublet with dielectric diagonal and an 8 inch reflector--maybe if I were using a $4000. APO I would see a difference (?), but not with my modest equipment. Adorama is GREAT, [...] best price--I will buy from them again, but I think the whole Televue thing is over rated and a lot of hype and I am never going to fall for it again (I'm sure this won't offend anyone :) I give this eyepiece 4 stars because it is of course very decent in its own right, but I am disappointed with the edge performance (not sharp to the edge as claimed). The only upside is now I appreciate my GSO plossls even more than I did before. Hope this helps.

It easily fits into an Orion Combined Camera Adapter(Eyepiece projection tube) after removing the rubber eye guard. But it can also be used for taking astrophotos with the Celestron Universal Digital Camera adapter as well. It gives great shots of the entire moon, giving me 40X with my telescope. I have an Orion Skyview Pro 120 with a focal length of 1000mm. But for high power shots I use the 4mm Televue Radian. It gives me 250X.

Because precision and clarity are paramount when exploring the cosmos, the Tele Vue Plossl 8mm Eyepiece emerges as an essential tool for amateur astronomers and seasoned stargazers alike. Crafted to meet the rigorous specifications of renowned designer Al Nagler, this high-quality eyepiece boasts a compact 8mm focal length, delivering the highest magnification within its series for detailed close-up views and expansive deep-sky exploration.
The eyepiece's generous 50-degree apparent field of view is achieved through the use of advanced, diffraction-limiting high-index glass lenses, arranged meticulously in a 4-element/2-group configuration. This design ensures a sharp, on-axis light transmission, effectively eliminating astigmatism and edge-aberrations that can detract from your viewing experience.
Optimized for peak performance, the Tele Vue Plossl 8mm Eyepiece features fully multi-coated optics, enhancing light transmission for brighter, clearer images. The blackened lens edges and anti-reflection threads work in concert to boost contrast, allowing celestial objects to stand out starkly against the night sky.
Durability and versatility are also key attributes of this eyepiece. It is parfocal with all Tele Vue Group 'B' eyepieces, which means that when switching between eyepieces within this group, refocusing is not necessary. This seamless transition saves valuable observation time and minimizes potential vibrations that could disrupt your celestial viewing.
The eyepiece is equipped with a standard 1.25" barrel, ensuring compatibility with the most common telescope focusers and accessories. Additionally, the fold-down rubber eyecup provides comfort for extended stargazing sessions and aids in blocking extraneous light, further enhancing the user's experience.
Reliable and built to last, the Tele Vue Plossl 8mm Eyepiece is a testament to Tele Vue's commitment to producing versatile, high-contrast optical accessories that bring the wonders of the universe within reach. Whether you're gazing at the craters of the moon or delving into the depths of the Milky Way, this eyepiece is an affordable, yet indispensable addition to any astronomer's toolkit.
